Ok it probably won't be my last, but my last today, (probably?). Now that I tihnk I may not want to be a pharmacist it is really hard to care about this test today. Like organic chem will never matter in any other world. But what if tomrorow I decide I want to again and then I failed the test, then I am screwed. I have been studying pretty much all my free time tihs week (by studying i mean reading th ehcapters and doing the probelms that I have avoided doing since the last test) so really i am spedning a lot of time but not really getting a lot out of it. There is a very real reality that I may fail this test today and i kinda don't care right now, excpet i havce already put in so muhc time, ugh i wish i didn't find out i couldn't get in to pharmacy shcool until next week so i could care mor eabou this test

Maybe I'll TeachSo now if I decide I don't want to be a pharmacist I am thinking maybe I will be a teacher. I always wanted to do that but then got the idea of other things but really that was my first occupation that I loved. I had so many teachers that influenced me that I always wanted to be like. Maybe I will do that. Either social studies or elementary ed. I am gonna look into it now.

I think you would be a great teacher.

Do it. You always tell me I have so many days off! I think you would be a good teacher. I wonder how much more school you'd have to go through. Hopefully you took some credits at Canisius that might transfer. Anne is looking into getting her teaching degree too, posslbiy from UB. You're probably looking at at least a year and half, with student teaching and education courses (yawn...).

Pharmacy SchoolSo I was told today that I cannot get in for next year. Because some of my prerequisites were 6 years ago instead of the five that they conveniently never told me about or made known of their website in the last year, I now have to wait another year. Not only that but I have to take either one full time or 2 part time semesters of like unneeded 300 and 400 level science courses. I think I am just not going to do it. I am not giving up yet. I am going to talk to another lady. I am gonna pull out all the punches on this one. If not I seriously am just applying somewhere else even if I still have tow ait a year, I just don't want UB to have any of money or gifted future in their hands. We'll see. I am not going down easy!

Mike I did want to ask if the Prereqs from 6 yrs ago were from another degree you had or if they were earned at UB ie you were taking them part time and it took you that long to complete all the necessary classes?

my DARS report shows everything waived except 10 classes and it's been just over 5 yrs since I got my BS (May 03). They told me I had to complete all prereqs in five years but I will definitely ask for further clarification! thanks!

tiburon-make sure you check with someone about this 5 year thing because if you took any prereqs while you were in school that time it won't count.
tinypliny- i may try a persuasive letter. thanks for the suggestion.
james- they also say they don't recommend you taking the classes that are part of pharmacy school. and considering they decide if i get in or not I suppose I shouold not do things they don't recommend ugh, i hate them

To pass the time between the two I would see what courses are required for your pharmacy degree and take what ever grad classes you can to get them out of the way.
Like, if you need to take Chem 788 and Bio 801 take them and those are two less classes you will need to take when in Pharm school.

I just got accepted into UB as a transfer student (got my BS in 03) and plan on starting my PharmD prereqs in the Spring semester, taking one or two at a time while I still work full time because if I complete the prereqs and don't get in, I'm screwed if I've quit my job! If I get in, I'll quit my job of course so hopefully there will be no problems. The advisor they said would be contacting me has yet to do so...

Wish we had someway to edit our comments...
One more piece of information and a million corrections to my last comment.
I believe this is the lady you would write to:
Cindy F. Konovitz
Assistant Dean (Admissions and Student Services)
Also, I think it might be a good idea to have your letter proof-read by no less that five people to catch errors, language and tone faux pas.
Now for the corrections:
persuasive letter*s*
grades not graded
Also,
catch up with the advances...
each of the subject*s*...
I admit I have correction OCD. Sorry about that!

That is just ridiculous! I am sure there are plenty of schools which charge less and are more reasonable!
I dug this up, but perhaps you know about it already: :::link:::
But first, I think you should write directly to the director of grad admissions (pharmacy) and make a persuasive case as to why you are capable of entering pharmacy school and why the "requirements" should be reconsidered for you.
Personal and persuasive letter often make a good impact. Include your syllabus (And compare it with the present) and graded in the letter if they add to your argument. Also add the various efforts you have made in the past few years to make up with the advances in the syllabus, if any, for each of the subject required.

Ya, they are just money hungry. It's not like 300 level chemistry has changed so radically in the last 5 years that you would not be able to understand it anymore.

Party Pics At LastOk, so this is the first time I have had a digital camera at an (e:strip) party. I do not take quite the extensive amount of pictures as others and as you will see I mostly take pictures of a)myself b) people with me c) random pics of the floor (ok i won't post those) I serioulsy have pics of very few people but here's what I got kiddos.
P.S. Does anyone know why I always end up scrapped up , cut up and bruised the day after an (e:strip) party. I think it had something to do with a certain zebra!I hope everyone had fun, enjoy! I was going to do some captions and what not but I am tired so here they are...

I don't remember getting stepped on by sexy lady boot.
That picture of you with the glasses is hysterical. I have never seen you make that face before.
And poor Dave, having wardrobe malfunction and then everyone groping him.

You know, that is O-chem for you, though - you'll think you failed the test when you find you got a 45... and then you'll find out the class average is a 40. Seriously.
Anyway, I hope you did well on the test. And I hope we both figure out (soon!) what we want to be when we grow up. :)
I hope the test goes well, even though it's pretty boring. I'm sorry about the crap UB is giving you- it seems pretty unfair.
Yeah, you have to go full bore until you decide for sure. Don't screw yourself.
haha I had to read that twice before I truly understood what you meant.
have you ever actually failed a test? i mean i think since like sophomore year of high school you have always had tests or papers that you were sure you were going to fail etc but i don't remember you ever actually failing. my point is is that even if you don't care you will probably do fine because you remember everything. will this one test really decide it all?
