diplo
i know, i know it's sad that i get all my new music from grey's anatomy....but it's good nevertheless.
enknot - 04/27/06 17:40
you know imk2, there was a time that I would have bought the album for 80% of the stuff they played on Smallville, and that kinda makes sense, at least within the first few seasons of any show really. Typically, the shows producers have to find good music that isn't so popular that the lables want to charge for the songs being played. The only way to do that is go after underground acts. Happens all the time, at least for the first few seaons. Later when the show can afford a heavy hitter the get to play radiohead and stuff. One episode of smallville later in the shows life there was an episode with all R.E.M. songs on it. Friggin' R.E.M song from 96' and stuff. Was like an R.E.M. catalouge. It was annyoing.

And besides, where else can you find new music when everything else has been played out (cause not only is it on the radio full time it's on all the major shows, and Mtv too). Unless you have some sweet assed hipster friends, or are a hipster your self your stuck with what cha got.

So, ifin' your lookin' for some hip new acts in the same vein of diplo you should check out ratatat, and um....bakini, and lemon jelly. They're all pretty freeakin' sweet.

Yeah.

moving to africa?
i wanted to feel kind of dignified so.....

i applied for a job at the CDC as a Behavioral Scientist in Cote d'Ivoire. it only required a 4 year degree so i figured, what the hell, might as well give it a shot. for christ sake, it pays 65K. little did i know, the damn application on their website, took a whole 2 hours to complete. it was like a job interview, but in writing. sucked ass. but now i can say i applied for a cool job at a cool agency in africa. gave me something to do at work today.

sour puss
what does it mean when you crave vinegary foods? i swear i could drink a bottle of vinegar with my dinner. i ate a whole jar of pickles today, and some pickled mushrooms and it's still not enough. and noooooo.....i'm not prego.

metalpeter - 04/23/06 10:40
I dislike vineger so I couldn't tell you. I don't like pickled things. But Dill Pickles I would love to eat an entire Jar, Yum. If you like and all ready eat things wiht Vinegar it most likely is just a craving and no big deal, but if that isn't something you are into then something wacky is going on with you at some hormonal biological level I'm guessing (not that I'm a doctor or anything)
paul - 04/22/06 22:49
They say people that don't have enough stomach acid crave vinegar. Matt says don't polish people pickle everything?
museumchick - 04/22/06 22:27
Do you like the vinegary-type potato chips?

damn, i'm starving
for all of you sushi deprived elmwood strip residents, worry no more, a new place will soon be open! you just have to manage to live through the summer first.

here's a quick run down of the recent events in my life......

went to toronto last week with (e:ladycroft) had loads of fun as seen in her post.

went to dinner that friday with some friends to hutch's for dinner and drinks, had lots of yummy mojitos!....the season has started.

went out for dyngus day and almost got into a fight with a 300lbs fat biotch who flicked her cigarette at us, but decided i could not risk the humiliation of getting my ass kicked as i've got a reputation to protect.

suffered through work the next day as i recalled the previous evening's numerous drinks and near ass kicking.

applied for a job at roswell for a clinical research associate position.....wish me luck everyone!

went on a diet, as i am starting to resemble 300lbs fat biotch. really

went tanning so i can look skinnier. all girls know that being tan makes you look thinner.

got summoned for jury duty....i doubt they will keep me as i've been the victim of a violent crime and will probably dismiss me, but i would looooove to be on one...a nice juicy love triangle murder, possibly.

spent 50 bucks on a video game, elder scrolls: oblivion, before realizing that my laptop does not have the needed components. DAMN!

am planning on buying a desktop so i can play my new game, hopefully after getting the roswell job.

got 5 letters from the federal govt saying that soon will be time to pay all of my student loans back.....yeah, good luck with that one, georgie, i've got a computer to buy so i can waste my time playing video games, and ignoring your bill collectors....

zobar - 04/19/06 19:05
You didn't hear it from me, because they've been trying to keep it on the DL for reasons that are obvious if you know what to look for ... but the owner of the new sushi shop is someone who is very well regarded in this area.

I've said too much already.

haha, many good points.
-mom's corollary (sp?) to paragraph 9: "besides, tan fat is better than white fat"
-good luck at the job hunt. I wonder if I would see you (or paul) when I go back to roswell.
-I too have always thought it might be fun to be on the jury of a big nasty case. (then again i've always thought it would be fun to be a temp.)
-and i agree. I have much more important things to do than my bogus research project- like watch tv, drink beer/coffee with friends, enjoy the weather, sleep, and eat. Oh yeah, and obsess about the male species.

for matthew

for matthew or anyone else interested in researching local architecture.....

i came across this site. it was put together by my former co-worker, cynthia van ness, who is a very well known architectural authority and preservation activist here in buffalo. she is a librarian and local author.

matthew - 04/10/06 13:05
Thanks a bunch! I'll add the adress to my collection. I haven't used her site before, but Ms. Van Ness's name and work, as a local building historian, is familiar.
mrdt - 04/10/06 01:16
thats interesting, thanks
