ok, so back on jan 22nd we did a habitat for humanity thing here in miami, here's a pic of all of us on a big mound of what probably is by now, the foundation of one of the houses...

oh, :( my watch battery died :( it happened at 2:48 pm. i feel like such a moron, i was messing around before i had to go to class, all the while not realizing that it was getting pretty darn close to class time and i was way across campus... good thing i looked at my phone 10 minutes before class started though, just enough time to jump on the shuttle and get to class. but I'm still sad about my little watch :( i just changed the battery last year in april... i didn't think watch batteries die that fast. maybe it's time to get a new watch ;) this one is a banged up and all... well, we'll see. but here it is, it's a little more dramatic in motion being as the second hand isn't moving, but you can get the idea from the pic... the second hand isn't moving :( none of the hands are :(

Valentines Day...

Yeah, whatever, I never do anything on Valentine's Day. Just a silly day I guess, but here are a few things for the big day:

So I flipped my day calendar and this popped up to remind me of valentines day, just in case I forgot that it was today (actually it has been helpful informing me of such days as groundhog's day, I totally forgot about that one)



Ok, so that was the little cartoon for today, "I need to really get a life when the only valentine I get is from my dog..." well hell, I didn't even get a valentine from my dog. But I did get one from my parents:



So instead of a loving little message, I get a card telling cupid to stay away from me, geez, come on now...

And then to end this little thing, I thought I'd throw in a few pictures of these heart shaped boxes of chocolate I picked up at the store the other day. I thought they were really cute and had to get them, aside from the fact that I have noone to give them to. They are probably gonna go to my roommates. (I had contemplated keeping them for myself, but we all know I don't need em...) oh, so here they are (cute, eh?):

Wow, I haven't heard that song in forever! It was huge back in the summer before my freshman year of college (2001) somehow my summer rowing team adopted that song as our own anthem that year, as our little pump us up song, or something. what a song to use, geez!

But after practically 4 years of not hearing it, listening to it this morning in the car driving home from the marina with Karen, we were still both able to belt out the entire song, crazy eh?

It's amazing how a song about some girl adamant that she "had" to be a whore in order to survive and then some other guy telling her off really made it so far, not to mention, stuck in our heads so well.

OMG!!! so a bunch of girls on my team have been waiting forever for "The Notebook" to come out on DVD, and it finally did this tuesday. well i had never seen it so no big deal, i just wanted to see what all the hype was about...

so I had some free time tonight, so what did i do??? I borrowed one of the 20 copies circulating throughout the team and i sat down and watched it!!!

OMG, i don't cry at movies, usually don't really get very involved, i mean i really love movies, but this one really hit me. I was warned that i would be crying in it, but "no, i don't cry watching movies" boy was i wrong...

It was such a happy/sad movie... i can't even explain it... yes, it is a love story, but sooo much more...

All i can say is go out to blockbuster or whereever/however you get your movie rentals and sit down with a box of tissues and a nice comfy blanket and watch "The Notebook"

oh, and it totally reminded me of my grandma, i miss her :(

ok, bad transition here, but on a totally different note, i watched the OC in the middle of the notebook (that was a weird transition in and of itself...) and sadly, i have missed a bunch of episodes, but what is going on with the cohen's??? seth, come on, get over her, he's just making a fool out of himself... and the father, come on now... did he really have to go back to her? and miss dinner? on valentines day? what an ass... that's all i have to say...

well after all that, I'm going to sleep, have a good night ;)

GO WATCH THE NOTEBOOK!!!

ahhh, it's ash wednesday, the day to start the Lent fast thing (catholicism...) and just like every other year, i couldn't think of what to give up/do for the 40 days. so i asked (e:amanda) stupid me... jk

and after arguing with her for over an hour that i can't give "something" up, i have decided to actually go with what she said i should do... but instead, to even go farther...

I'm not gonna say what it is, but amanda, you will figure it out soon enough.

oh my god, i already miss it, and im only a little over 10 hours into the 40 days... ahhhh

(but i am putting in the clause that under necessary circumstances... i will permit it :- i know, i know, but not for fun... just business)

i have a feeling my cell phone is gonna get a lot of use these next 40 days... call my room phone as much as possible!!!! do you even know that number??? ;)

so I'm on this kick of telling stupid little stories, so here's another ;)

so... last night, i went out to the living room to sit and watch some TV with Imani, one of my roommates. ya know, just wanted a little break from the stupid pointless homeowrk i was doing...

and as i sit down, i start to hear this humming.... so i ask her, "what's that noise?" and at first she says she doesn't hear anything... and i think to myself, 'how can she not here that???' then she said she can kinda hear it and she must have zoned it out, but think's it must be from outside or something... i even asked her to turn the TV off to see if that was making the noise, but nope... still this humming noise.

then i see this look on her face... this little evil look, and i think to myself, 'Oh, my God, what is she doing???'

so i left the room a minute to go get something from my room and to leave her alone a minute... and by the way, I was begining to get really disgusted by what i thought she was doing...

then i came back, really not anxious to sit out there with her, and i still heard it... and by the look on her face i was even more convinced that she was up to something....

so as i was about to give up on sitting there with her, i reached under the coffee table in front of her to grab my sandals to go outside for a few minutes when i saw it....

she had a little foot massager under there... that's what was making all that noise...

I was like, "what the Hell, you knew all along what that noise was!" and yes, she did, but she knew what i was thinking and wanted to see how long i would go believing it....

ahhhh, hasn't my poor sofa gone through enough this semester??? ;)

but i guess the foot massaging didn't do the trick, cuz i just got back from her basketball game, and Duke beat them :(

maybe the other noise would have helped more ;) jk

every semester i hit this wall in which i get these assignments and i have absolutly no idea how to do them... but it's only the 3rd week, the start of the 3rd week... and i already don't know how to do this stuff :( what the hell!!!

i spent so long on my HVAC homework... but i guess since i never understood thermodynamics, it's understandable that i can't do this stuff... ahhh, so frustrating. my professors always just look at me like im a moron when i go to ask em for help on these assignments... but come on now... how am i suppossed to know how to calculate the enthalpy of the moist air at such and such relative humidity at both sea level and at 1525 meters above sea level??? ahhh, i don't even know where to find that.... this sucks...

but now I'm gonna try my masonry assignment, again... but like i said above, I never understood my concrete class so what makes me think I'm gonna have any idea how to do this masonry stuff???

ahhh, soo frustrating... and way too early in the semester to be this confused :(

ah ha!!! i finished the work i needed to finish with time to spare... so I'm gonna use that time to tell of what i learned as i was doing my work all day.

One of my roommates, Alex, get's her hair redone about every 2 weeks... i remember the first time i saw her right before she had it done i said to her, "oh my god, you cut your hair so short!" but no, stupid me... the long hair i always see isn't real... i was soo shocked at this, but whatever... so today and tomorrow she's getting it redone!!!

but before it can get done, she has to cut out the old one which was sewed in, there were literally brown threads that stitched her actual braided hair to this stuff that really reminded me of the "kid sister" doll, you know... the girl form of "my buddy"?





but my job this morning was to cut the threads... so nerve racking, i thought i was gonna cut her hair... and its so short already... i don't wanna cut any more...

well I'll tell ya, that was interesting... i would have never thought you could sew hair onto other hair... i've heard of it, but eeek, never actually saw it up close

and now and all day she has been sitting out on the floor in the living room and a girl from the track team is braiding these, what look to be 3 foot long hairs (after braded) to her head... it's been taking all day and I'm thinking will take long into the night... but still... it amazes me, so much effort...

and i thought brushing my hair and putting it in a pony tail after my shower, with the every few month trim, was enough work...
