1st Blog/Hipsters
So I'm new to this whole blogging thing, but since summer is ending and I need a hobby I figured I would give it a try. After working and living in the Elmwood Village for years now I have found that too many conversations revolve around the things and people that we all see everyday, (i.e. the Elmwood crazies we all know and adore), and writing about those could be a years worth of blogging right there. Because of the whole living and working in the neighborhood thing I think I should make sure that noone knows I am writing this, as to not risk loosing friends, job, places I frequent spitting in my wine or food, etc.
So to get to it, I think my first blog will be about hipsters. Now sorry guys, I know and love you, and many of you are my actual friends, but....You are annoying the crap out of me. I liken you to middle school kids who claim they wear black clothing and makeup and listen to screamo because they don't want to be like everybody else; but in reality you are just trying to fit in to another group. We are all in our 20's and 30's now, so I think its about time to stop trying to be a cool kid. And please don't tell me you just happen to like all these hipster things. Sure maybe you love Indie music, so do I, BUT I don't believe that you also love vintage bikes, tons and tattoos, skinny jeans, American Apparel, Ray Bans, playing in a band, hanging on Allen, riding your bike down the middle of Elmwood, hair in your eyes, trendy beers, etc. etc.
I guess I just find you so annoying because I don't understand grown adults trying so hard to be cool kids. It wasn't all it was cut out to be in highschool, and it sure as hell isn't now. Grow up, stop hurting any career choices you may have in the future with all those tattoos, and guys buy some pants that you can ride your super awesome vintage bike in. Chances are I will think you are even cooler after you make these life changes and will be more likely to buy you one of your favorite trendy beers.
Thanks to anyone who actually reads this =)

PS: I must admit that, I was kind of disappointed because the first time I clicked on your blog, I was looking forward to a balanced discussion about underwear styles.
(e:paul): Thanks!
2. I like how you start out about the post that you don't want anyone to spit in your food that is a great point
3. Where we veer is that I'm sorry but there are no Hipsters in Buffalo. You may dress hipster or look hipster but there is no such thing here in Buffalo. See Buffalo is small town you know some one who knows some one so circles intertwine.
Being a Hipster is a movement that only Happens in NYC or maybe some other big city. It is a way of life and a movement and if you aren't from that (what ever part it is) and at those certain clubs (NYC ONLY AGAIN) and listening to that certain type of music then you aren't a hipster. You could be called Indie, or some other type of thing, but that is just me............
I just might seriously consider drinking 5 ml of trendy beer if he asked me.
Now, it just seems to refer to anyone in their 20's. Hipster style is so mainstream now that is it almost meaningless to talk about it as something discreet from youth.
But, welcome to the site :)
