I'm in Cary NC that is

So currently I'm relaxing in Cary NC relaxing about to go out to a Buffett. For those that read my previous Journal I got to the Biltmore eventully and we only went to the house. It is truely amazing. I can't really explain the detail of the wood and how fancy it is inside, and you can't take in door pictures but when I get back I will post the ones of the outside it really was amazing. Then later that night was my cousins weeding and that was pretty nice to. I don't dance so the after part wasn't as fun for me as it was for others but still had a good time. Then the next day there was a nice brunch and I enjoyed that and we got to see ashville it looked like there was a pride Celebration in one of the town squares but that isn't the only thing a rainbow means. Oh I think the most interesting or funny thing was a lady and guy who had cute little dogs at the builtmore and one had pearls and they shared their ice cream with the dogs wish I had a picture of that. Well hope everyone had a great weekend.

Posting when I don't want to be....

So I'm in Ashville NC for a weeding, well if we ever get there. The reason I'm on (e:strip) using the computer in the lobby is because the CAR died. I hate cars sometimes and don't even drive. We are waiting to see if someone from road side service shows up to check it out. Be are supposed to go to the Butimore (how ever you spell it) Estate and it looks pretty cool, but first they have to get here and see if they can get the car to work, maybe soon I hope. I hope it is something simple and can be fixed quickly so we can be on the way. It is odd that last trip we got locked out of the car so it is a little frustrating. But other then that so far NC has been good. Flying isn't to bad just going through security can kinda blow. Oh yeah they lost my bag but it was found and the airline dropped it off at the nice hotel free of charge. It is odd right across from the hotel there is a Church. That is not the odd part, it just sticks out with kinda the suburb feel of things to the left and right of it with lots of room and some crosses. I wish I was more clear kinda sorry. On the flying I just wish you where allowed to use electornic devices during landing and take off cause that is when pictures would be the best. Hopefully when I get back I will post pictures of some of NC. In terms of the built more I think out pictures are fine but not interior well we shall see. Well we shall see.

Dethklok

So again for anyone that reads my blog like the last one I have to say sorry for no photos but maybe some people who took pictures last night will post them on the web a search will bring them up. I called about 4pm and they didn't know if cameras were allowed since it is up to the band. No since I don't live in Downtown Buffalo nor do I have a car if the policy is no Cameras then I would be screwed so I just didn't take it. I have to admit that the lineup before the show was pretty interesting, in a you had to be there kind of way. The concert sold out as I was in line.

I wish I knew enough about music to do a pro write up and say what kind of metal everything was. The first band was Soilentgreen I thought they played pretty heavy and where pretty good, oh yeah and they have some cool looking merch also. The second band was Chimaira who I have heard of any I would guess knew one of there songs and they where really good also. I wish I knew how to describe there sound. There was a lot of head banging and people in the pits and crowd surfing and all that good stuff you get at a metal show. The Headliners where Deathklok. By that time my hearing was a little damaged and understanding vocals was pretty tough. That being said Dethklok was amazing. The players from the show where on stage with the cartoon on a screen in the background you mostly saw the screen but you could tell the players looked nothing like the band, but that was still cool. They did have a story about the band playing the concert and a couple times had Deathklok on stage and then when they left the players left also. The only thing is from where I was standing the screen on stage looked like it had a middle section that was different then the other two sections but it didn't hurt the cartoon that much. I was surprised that I didn't see anyone at the show in costume. There were some other little cool parts that I won't give away. That being said I think that after season two they should tour again. The other thing that I would like to see is one of there concerts on DVD that would be cool maybe even make it into a movie where you see the animated band backstage and stuff. The band was awesome and the show is awesome and I had a great time. Yes there where mostly dudes and most ladies where with dudes but I'm sure there where some who weren't with guys. I would advise any one who can go see Dethklok to do so it is a pretty cool tour.

Hatebreed And More

So last night I got to go see some Heavy Music and I had a good time. Do to the timing of it I didn't get to take my Camera but turns out I could have but didn't know that before hand. I would loved to take pictures of people in the pit during Hatebreed, it looks pretty wild and I did see a few people and this one cute chick take a pretty hard slam of course I don't know how hard to floor really is. So for those of you who read my multiple blogs or look at my pictures sorry I didn't get any it would have been good to have some at least of some of the fine ladies and I don't just mean the thin as a rail ones or the hottie bar tender.

The opening band was I guess a hardcore band from Cleveland called Scalrea. I liked them but think maybe I've seen them open up before but not sure. they were followed by 3 inches of blood. I only knew one of their songs but they where really good. I guess they way to describe them is the singers sound high pitched like Rob Halford and the guitar is really good, the one guy kinda looks like a young James Hatfield from the early days of Metallica. I don't know how they sound On a CD but live they where amazing. The two Headliners where Type O Negative and Hatebreed. I used to listen to Type O but it has been some time, I don't know how to describe there sound really it is kinda I don't know but it was a good time. I talked to someone before they came on and had a nice time, hey if you are reading this is was a nice time. The reason I say that is there where some people there who looked like I have seen them before but that I don't know aka FF or Famiiaur Faces. Even though I was loosing my hearing at that point Hatebreed was really good. And it was nice to rock out get some exercise and watch people in the pit. Hey don't join gym go find a hard rock show every weekend and go run in circles and crash into other people. I admit it isn't my thing but it is really pretty good for you. All 4 bands where good to listen to and Hatebreed was awesome and I got to see Type O Negative and had a great time. The lizard man was pretty cool between acts also. Then On Sunday I get to do it again and go see DethKlok.

More From the Dinner and marina

The dinner was very nice and it was great that there was a good turnout. Some of the pictures where to dark to fix at all and some come out kinda crazy looking so here are some updated or edited pictures. OH yeah I think someone wanted to know how that beer things works it is pretty cool. It costs a certain amount and then you have different choices of beer and it has a little spout at the bottom it is a really cool idea. I also wanted to add that I did see a couple other cameras I do look forward to seeing other people's pictures posted allso.

Hope everyone likes both sets of pictures. I wish I was better with my camera at low level light stuff. I think one interesting thing is it seemed no mater what I did if the TV was in the background that tv part didn't change at all unless it got super bright so I'm guessing that has something to do with why things came out dark.

Art fest and varrious thoughts

I have not downloaded my pictures yet so no pictures yet, I want to wait till after Monday's dinner and then I'm guessing those pictures would be more important any ways. First of all it was nice to see you (e:tinypliny) (twice) I hope you understood that I meant the Kettle Korn was down near Jim's Steak out and Sweet tooth. After I saw you it dawned On me I could have went with you and then gone to sample since they had 2 for 1 Shaken Daquris well I hope you had a good time. (e:carolinian) I hope you and your family enjoy the festival and that you had a good fathers day and got some art you like, I extend that happy fathers day to everyone. I also think I saw an (e:peep) yesterday but I wasn't sure if it was her or not since it is a peep I only know from postings. I also saw (I blanked on her name) That tall blond girl from the party the other night. I did try some food and did like the mini beef on wecks from sample. I bought art that I liked and also saw lots of people who would look pretty on my futon, HA, but they really would. So in my previous post I mention that there are people who want to save the livery and today they had there signs in front of the hotel lenox, I assume because the people who own that building used to own the Lenox and let it fall apart. I wonder how many of those parking places are legit. For example yesterday they where charging to park in Latinos lot and today in was coned off. The other odd thing is that some people where charing to park in the back lot and it was for a different amount of money. So land owned by the same company has two different prices, something was going on there. There was also people with signs protesting Iraq or maybe just war itself or maybe it is how America wants to be an empire. One of the guys there was also at the Pride Parade. It is a good way to get your message out with a lot of people out and about. To the larson's hope you birthdays are great and that you both get to see and spend some time with (e:ladycroft). I will admit that this cluster fuck of thoughts is kinda out there. I still have to find frames for some of the art work I bought I will do a little on line search and see where to buy them who knows maybe with some luck I get that done on tuesday. Hope everyone had a great time this weekend.

Save the livery

So I had a good time at the Allentown Art Fest today. I bought some Buffalo pictures and a couple of Asia. But on my way there I found out that they most likely will be tearing down the livery it is an old building that used to be stables

A few links about the story. I will admit I have no idea how much it would cost to fix this building up. But if people can save the Central Terminal why not this. I'm not an investor so I'm not sure what it could be used for but I'm sure there are plenty of things from a museum or condos it is in a good part of town there is no reason it can't be saved or used for something else. It is a shame it has come to this but maybe someone can find a way to save it and reuse it, it has been used before.

Bleach & Square

So I kinda messed up on some dates so I missed Bleach On Wendsday night. But then I decided that I wanted to see it so I went to the regal last night. I would have liked to gone to TiTs or TaTs but I miss planed. Bleach memory of Nobody was pretty good, if you like the cartoon or manga you would like it. They came up with a new character for the story and it was a pretty cool story. The animation was pretty cool also along with the action. I can't really say to much else with out giving any thing away. On a side note I both love and hate this heat we are having. Yes the heat is nice and everything and it will make the art festival fun and push people to buy drinks. The bad part about the heat is that it makes my physical job tough, it feels so hot in the warehouse and it weighs on you, but it is still better then the cold.

Censoring the next loss of freedom

So today reading the Buffalo News I found and interesting story about the internet. That is the link to the original article. Here is my take on what is happening here. I think internet companies are giving our freedom away and Cuomo is taking our freedom away also. Some might say "But Pete child porn is evil and anyone who would rape a child is sick and should go to jail or be killed or raped why are you defending them". I'm not defending them at all. I think that most people would think that Child Porn is very wrong and that it hurts a lot of people. Not sure how I feel about people who like the pictures but don't hurt anyone and just look at them and I'm sure there is some debate on that. I'm sure people disagree on what the punishment should be for child porn. It is a big problem and real solutions need to be found. One of those solutions isn't making internet providers the cops.

What happens often is that people think that because something is bad or evil that they have a right to do things that are wrong to that person or do things that they normally wouldn't do. For example someone rapes a girl and then they think that, that guy should be raped every day in jail. But see what they don't understand is that rape is wrong so him being raped is just as wrong. So in theory everyone who rapes the rapest is just as bad as him, so then someone should rape them, sorry that is conflictory and makes no sense.

Since Child Porn is wrong people think that it is ok to sensor web sites that help pass it to other people. But what if that site has other stuff other then porn why hurt the entire site. But see what these companies don't get is that once you do it once when asked to you are now an internet cop. Once you do this once you will continue to do this with other things. What if Some powerful senator thinks Marriage is between a man and women and so he gets websites that fight for gay rights or marraige to be taken down. Some would say that would never happen. But see internet companies are now the cops so if they think it is wrong goodbye. Or maybe what about underage drinking. What if they go after sites that tell how to make drinks with out making sure people are 21. Hey underage drinking when you mix driving kills a lot of people I can see how now the internet cops could close down those sites. hey why not take that another step and go after pictures of people drinking on the net who might not be legal age. Why not just go after any site that does that and stop access. Once you let the government tell you what can and can't be on the internet you have let your rights be taken away and then can lead to not being able to keep the government honest. If you think this can't happen go look at China's Internet.

I'm sure I could come up with a bunch of different examples to show what I mean. The thing is that morality is different for different people. I'm sure there are some people who have sex with kids (not teens who fuck around and are underage) and think it is fine. Things that are illegal should be fought by the police and undercover people on line and there should be over sight so that they follow the law. If you break the law to capture someone you are just another criminal your self and are no better then they are. But see that is the job of the law officals not the people who allow you access to the internet.

Other then the fact that we are giving away our rights again to feel safe. There is another issue. If the internet companies are given the keys to the cuffs and made cops then what happens next and how far will they go and how many more rights will the violate. So lets say Time Warner knows making bombs is illegal and the mis one site and someone blows something up and people die. Well now that timewarner is the cops they could be sued, hey they should have pulled down that site. So because of that it could make the internet even more restricted.

Yes internet child porn is bad and should be fought but this is not the way to do it. When ever anyone sees their rights being given up or the possiblity of that happening maybe it should be fought. At the very least you should understand what is going on and think about it. Not sure if there is anyway to fight it as an indivual. I think if the internet companies are supbenied by a judge for a case then yes they should give up the information but none of the witch hunt stuff.

In any event it is an interesting article. I will end like this. People will not stand up for the rights of people they think are different then them selves but when the powers that be attack what you believe in or you then it will be so different now that it is you. Don't give up your rights to feel safer, all it does any ways is make you less safe. I would love to know how our founding fathers would think about things like this and the Patriot act.

Internet providers to cut off child porn
Three companies settle after probe by Cuomo
By Susan Schulman
Updated: 06/11/08 6:50 AM

Associated Press
Andrew M. Cuomo announces agreement with three service providers.

Under pressure from the state attorney general, Internet providers Verizon, Time Warner Cable and Sprint are taking steps to block computer access to news groups that disseminate child pornography and to knock down Web sites hosting the illegal material.

The moves, long sought by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, are considered a significant effort to deal with the child pornography explosion on the Internet around the world.

"This is a major step forward. We hope this will become a model for the rest of the industry," said Ernie Allen, head of the center based in Alexandria, Va.

State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo announced the settlement Tuesday after an eight-month investigation by his office into the proliferation of online child pornography.

Under the settlement, the three major Internet providers, which did not admit any wrongdoing, not only will take steps to rid their own networks of child pornography but also will contribute $1.12 million to fund additional efforts by the attorney general's office and the national center to remove child pornography from the Internet.

In "The Child Porn Pipeline," a series published last June, The Buffalo News revealed that most of the commercial child pornography disseminated worldwide - one study put the figure at 62 percent - is posted through Internet service providers in the United States.

The series described the national center's efforts to persuade service providers to shut down and block access to child pornography sites.

But many providers resisted, saying that policing the Internet was not their job.

A decade ago, service providers in Great Britain began closing sites and cutting off access to Internet child pornography.

British computer servers and Web sites, which once provided 18 percent of commercial child pornography produced in the world, now account for 1 percent.

While U. S. law enforcement focused much of its attention on arresting the people viewing, and to a lesser extent making and distributing, child pornography, Cuomo's investigation went after the Internet companies whose servers and networks host and disseminate the material.

Allen has supported that approach, saying so many people view child pornography that "unless you turn off the spigot, you are not really going to address the enormity of the problem."

The undercover probe by the attorney general's office found 88 different news groups - online bulletin boards where users can upload and download files - with a total of 11,390 lewd photos of young children, including some being raped.

Posing as subscribers, investigators then complained to the Internet providers about the availability of child pornography.

But the material remained available, and the service providers contended they were not responsible for the material that others share on news groups or post on Web sites, Cuomo said.

But he rejected that argument and threatened to bring charges against the companies, which led to the settlement announced Tuesday.

Two of the three service providers agreed to block access to news groups linked to child pornography, while Time Warner said it will eliminate news groups from its services.

"It's a small percentage of our users," said Alex Dudley, Time Warner spokesman.

"We are not comfortable with them," he continued. "Our best recourse is to take them down. Time Warner is discontinuing news groups."

The three Internet companies also agreed to work with the national center to remove Web sites hosting child pornography.

The center maintains a list of 39,000 Web addresses that contained child pornography, Allen said.

A few of the larger Internet companies use the list to identify and remove child pornography, but thousands of smaller Internet companies do not, the center has said.

Time Warner said that, upon learning that no action had been taken on a child pornography report, the company, under its established policy, immediately submitted the report to the national center.

Once it received confirmation of child pornography, the company took down the news groups, Dudley said.

At Verizon, any child pornography news group reported to the company was taken down promptly, said Eric Rabe, vice president for communications.

Verizon and Time Warner also are working with the national center to take down any confirmed child pornography sites, their spokesmen said.

Sprint spokesman Matthew Sullivan said getting child pornography off the Internet is one of the company's priorities.

"Battling this scourge requires close collaboration of many parties," he said at Tuesday's news conference in Cuomo's New York City office.

Verizon, with 8.2 million subscribers, and Time Warner's Road Runner, with 7.9 million, are two of the five largest Internet service providers in the world, while Sprint is one of the three largest wireless companies in the United States.

While the five largest companies control a major share of the Internet market, thousands of smaller servers are also involved in Internet operations.

Cuomo said his investigation is continuing.
