Halloween Party 2012
Category: holidays
We are having our annual halloween party next friday, Nov 2nd at 24 Linwood. You don't have to dress up, but its probably more fun that way. The party starts around 9Pm and goes till whenever. Feel free to bring friends.

When zooey saw this demon baby the other day she flipped out. I had to hide it in a closet and she wouldn't even go on that side of The house.

Yeah my costume is barely one at all.. In fact if you saw me this way you wouldn't even think of it a costume.... That being said won't get into the devil thing since I don't know how old she is... But it doesn't sound like he went out and tried to scare her... I know now a days things are different and we have not scary monsters for kids... But isn't part of the holiday to be a tiny bit scared or freaked out a bit... Not in a I'm not going in that room kinda way but... As an example when I was a kid I liked Dracula and someone got me this huge thing for a door.. During the day no big deal.. But when try to sleep with the dark and shadows it freaked me out a bit... But that is what one part of the holiday is about... On a side note that thing is pretty freaky looks like something that should have been in Club Diablo .....

Drag/drop upload Firefox
Category: estrip
Fixed the issue with the drag and drop upload on firefox. I didn't realize it was happening or I would have fixed it earlier.

Estrip SSL
Category: ssl
You can now use the SSL version of estrip.org if you are somewhere sketchy or don't want people snooping on your activity. Godaddy had a good deal on SSL certs so I bought 5 years worth for estrip.org for $65. This doesn't mean that I don't want to fulfilll my dream for making a buffalo based free and local SSL provider. But for the prices of $12.99/year I could not beat it. It also helped that vimeo and youtube both now have https services. Previously that was always an issue with SSL and blogging.

Estrip Now Virtual On The New Server
Category: estrip
If you are seeing this entry you are visiting estrip on its new centos 6, kvm based virtual guest on the new server. It probably doesn't mean much to most people but it is an exciting step forward in technology for me. I was up till around 5am getting everything moved. I still have a few finishing touches but most functionality works as expected.

The way virtual technology works I shouldn't have to spend much time moving estrip in the future and migrating it to a new host should be trivial.
heidi - 04/29/12 13:33
Yay!
paul - 04/29/12 13:30
That is close, its having one big computer or set of computers on which many virtual computers can live. So it is all about consolidating and getting to most of resources, while keeping separate stuff very separate.
metalpeter - 04/29/12 13:08
I will admit I have no idea what this means and it I'm sure is beyond what I could get about computers and how the net works but is this close....

Everything is one spot kinda like cloud computing that I don't get entirely either... Where you upload discs or media and then get it all from that source....

In any event congrats!
