ladycroft - 01/29/12 05:14
Mmmm, take away the bacon and that looks delish!
mrmike - 01/21/12 21:28
I think the keyboard issues were more operator error, but the 3-d picture did look....well, tasty
mrmike - 01/21/12 21:08
I have the Lg thrill
tinypliny - 01/21/12 20:53
And more importantly which version of android? ICS has improvements for the virtual keyboard.
tinypliny - 01/21/12 20:53
which phone is this?
mrmike - 01/21/12 20:00
Tried it on android, just crappy at the keypad
paul - 01/21/12 19:42
Did you use the web site? If so the android apparently is better. Just search estrip.org in the android market.
mrmike - 01/21/12 14:44
Look at the above, it is really good
metalpeter - 01/21/12 14:31
@(e:tinypliny) Sweetness 7 is on Grant St. and is very close to Guericios now I have never been there but a few (e:peeps) say it is pretty good.... I've also heard (not seen my self) I think (e:heidi) knows where on Grant there is some new International Market (and I don't mean Tops)......
mrmike - 01/21/12 12:06
Thanks, Paul, first mobile post on the new phone
paul - 01/21/12 11:58

Happy Now?
Category: weather
There was an awful lot of whining going on about when are we going to get ours in terms of snowfall? I really wanted these people to shaddup because if in Buffalo you ask for snow, chances are it will still be in here in APRIL! It’s less charming then, in fact, after the holidays, I’m sort of whatever. But some things are certain, death, taxes, the Mets sucking, Snow in Buffalo? Settle, it came.

So, it never ceases to amaze that there is somebody driving down Elmwood, with a few inches of snow covering their car, windshield barely defrosted, no lights on.

I don’t mind the snow, just what can happen mind sets. Having four wheel drive is the key to NOTHING and there are few folks in the city who think having a four drive car has given them the powers found usually with residents of Krypton.

It’s the little things that make it even more interesting.

The traffic light on my street took on disco light flashing, which brings an even busier intersection that much more of a mess as we all forgot the four way stop rule they teach you in driver’s ed.

There isn’t that much snow as I write this but somehow folks are already in the streets.

It is what makes the “Where is our snow” facebook status updates and tweets sort of laughable.

“It’s here!”
mrmike - 01/15/12 14:15
Not a fan of that either, give me some twentys and falling snow, that is an improvement over Friday where it was like being chased by barbeque smoke
paul - 01/15/12 13:45
I am happy. But don't worry too much Monday and Tuesday should be rainy and 40 again.
metalpeter - 01/15/12 10:45
Last Night I froze my Hands Eating and Taking pictures and It sure would have been nice to have it be warm.....

I have a compromise .... How about so that the Snow People are happy it snows out in ski country you know Ellicotville so people can do the snow stuff maybe it stops at tift? If you want to build a snow man you can go out there and get the snow stuff.... If you want your house to look like Christmas you can rent a truck and they will bring it into the city for you and you make it look nice?

Six Degrees
Category: weather
Alright, I need a word with you, yeah, you, the yahoo who posted on his Facebook or Twitter feed to "Bring it On!" with the forecasts of cold and snow. You, dear sir, are a schmuck! You complacent, commuter cup swilling, jug head. I thought of you while waiting for AAA Tuesday morning. I enjoy the seasons to be sure, but those who somehow measure their manhood by snow piles I think need to be smacked back to consciousness, preferably with something frosty. Changing tires is not a six degree sort of activity.
Yes, we have handled snow just fine, but 6 degrees is cold, too cold to enjoy the snow for very long.

It's cold, especially if you develop a car issue, as mine did, on the way to work, for the first time in almost a week, on a busy street, during rush hour, with a grumpy teen in the car.

While waiting the admirably fast AAA folks, (helpful dude showed in 30 minutes) all I can think about were the yahoos who filled social media spots with "Finally" "Bring it On" "Bout Time." There will be time for all the fun stuff as we enjoy Winter until May, then have near winter, not winter, then near winter again. So, settle down as the tire that might need changed tomorrow morning might be yours. Don't go tempting Karma like that, she's burn out a headlight in temps like this and make you drop the most important screw into a dark corner that you can't see into and your fingers will be too big too reach.

It snowed in real numbers in the southtowns. Go there, and settle down, we'll get ours.
metalpeter - 01/04/12 17:23
Snow is one of those things that is very pretty if you aren't in it... Kinda like how tigers are pretty as long as you aren't in the cage with them.... Wish my body could stand the cold ..... Cause there is a part of me that wishes every day after work I was hoping in the 4X4 and hitting the slopes or learning some new rail trick ...... But man is cold out there..... There are a couple of Christmas songs that maybe aren't really Christmas songs that are really about staying in cause it is bad out there put how it does look pretty.... But just cause something looks nice doesn't mean it is.... I would tend to think that most things that work well aren't pretty at all.....
tinypliny - 01/04/12 11:03
heh, I really love you for posting this right now. White Christmas, White Winter, Buffalo Snow etc. etc. are all over-rated and completely unnecessary. I don't even think the snow is all that pretty once you have to grunt and tiptoe a mile because the compacted icy bits are so slippery and you could break your jaw if you strode like a normal person.

Add all this torture to -15 deg C and that is a painful disaster. I say we kick all the twitty-yahoos to alaska or wherever sarah palin is now and you have so much snow, there is nothing else.

Kindle - ing
Category: gadgets
Always been as much of an early adopter as my bankroll and credit lines would allow, but age is catching up there with me as number one son now regularly cleans my clock at Madden and NHL on the Xbox, and apparently I slow him down on Halo missions. That said, a friend's facebook posting about a $100 Plasma tv set had me thinking.

Anyway, it happens, I think I'm losing a step. I was watching a discussion about Nooks versus Kindles via twitter the other day with a little bit of interest. I've always been a pretty avid reader, but I'm loyal to the printed page and that will remain, but....

My final christmas gift arrived yesterday. My son's lovely mom imparted a Kindle on to me. It's a straight forward reader, which is good as I don't need another data port at this rate, but as somebody who rarely needed the directions for gizmos, I found I was looking for some directions (a first). With a little futzing and learning where the buttons are, I had two books that I was curious about, but not enough to buy loaded up at nice discount prices.

So, it's a noble experiment, figured out how to work it all in the privacy of my living room, reducing the silliness of figuring it out in front of, well, my tech savvy kids.

So far? Kinda cool. Don't think it will get in the way of any real book store purchases, but might digitally get my arse to the library a little more.
metalpeter - 12/31/11 17:55
A waterproof one is a great idea.... If you think back to one of the ads yes the hot girl with the sunglasses that cost more then the kindle reading on a raft floating in a pool would be awesome.... How about even a Magazine like manly things thinking like FHM, Maxim, Penthouse, Nuts, Playboy that kind of thing....

The reading in the tub comes of as weird not because it is.... But in this country there are so many things based on gender and gender roles. If I women said that no one would bat an eye.... In fact take it one more in some circles if a women took a bath and didn't read she would be looked down on or at least in the past maybe that isn't true anymore maybe the hours in the bath is lost to time?
uncutsaniflush - 12/30/11 21:27
I've been told I'm wierd but I like taking a bath and reading in the tub. I'm waiting for a waterproof e-reader. Happy Kindling.
