That is (e:terry)'s sister. She is holding her cousins wedding bouquette which was made of broaches instread of flowers.
metalpeter - 12/10/11 17:49

tinypliny - 12/10/11 17:21

A night with Sara in San Diego
Category: san diego
It was so nice to see (e:iriesara) in San Diego. I think the two funniest moments were:

1. Sitting at a mexican restaurant where I ate the best octopus dish ever. Paul says: OMG our table is on fire. Literally the greasy chip basket got too close to the candle. Sara put it out but not before the flames were like 6" high.

2. Best misunderstanding. Store Guy: Would you like a bag for it? Paul: I never though of just using a bag to do it, does it work good? Store Guy: To put the balloons in?

So awesome to see you both! Laughing my ass off reading this post. I would like add that I put the fire out with my bare hands. Can you just use the bag, I had totally forgotten about that! What an awesome surprise it was to see you! Love!
tinypliny - 12/10/11 17:21

I love shopping at the forum shops in Vegas. I was sad to see FAO Schwartz replaced by H&M.

tinypliny - 12/10/11 17:20
What was the Ted Baker display about?!
And that mirror is so cool!
tinypliny - 12/10/11 17:19
Wow, I need to go to Vegas to just look around someday. Last time we were so short of time and running to catch connections to the Grand Canyon. It was so tiring.

I like H&M!

A trip to china
Category: shopping
(e:tinypliny) and (e:pmt) headed down to the Chinese grocer last night. She was blown away by the appropriation of the Indian Buddha into the Chinese Buddha. I was equally amazed at the appropriation of the virgin Mary. Check out her dragons.

image

The picture tiny posted had a lot of arms...

image

but check out the Mega arm one. The thousands of hands kind of look like HPV based tumors.

image

(e:tinypliny) also could not get over how fat they made the buddha. We discussed if he had diabetes or not.
image

image

They do have a lot of cool pottery although some of it is very expensive.

This bird was almost $2000 which is surprising the way they just have them layed out on cheap shelving.
image

image

I wanted this mug so bad, but it was $15.

I have a Wood Dragon that I really need to replace so maybe......
paul - 12/10/11 19:21
Clearly, he ate a lot of dumplings when he got to china. I can see how it would happen.

I didn't see a lucky cat that I remember but I am sure they would have them. The place is huge. Its worth taking a trip out there something. It is on sheridan right past niagara falls blvd. In the summer you could prob ever walk there from South Campus station.
metalpeter - 12/10/11 17:45
Now in terms of the god with all the arms I don't really know any thing about that.... But like those dragons though.... Gotta ask though (maybe you just didn't photo it) where was Chinese Lucky cat not the same as Hello Kitty.....
metalpeter - 12/10/11 17:43
The Indian and Chinese Budha are both Budha but are different... The Chinese one is and from what I know has all ways been fat.... Now how different people or companies make him well that is a different story.... At least with the wood ones it is supposed to be good luck to rub its belly....
tinypliny - 12/10/11 17:15
I think the happy man personification is based on some Buddhist monk. He is some God among 12 others, called Hotei. Granted Buddha hung out under a tree quite a lot for a good part of his life, and that is probably an über-sedentary lifestyle but I am still hesitant to believe that they thought Buddha was that obese...
tinypliny - 12/10/11 17:11
I was thinking about why they would make the appendages and the level of fat so grotesque... Maybe the point is regular people can never hope to get those many arms and hands or even that fat. I guess they slipped a bit because they weren't factoring in super-sizing in the US.

tinypliny - 12/10/11 17:08
Ortiz should really send you a christmas gift basket, considering how much publicity you have given them over the years.
