Driscoll's raspberries from wegmans tried to kill me
Category: food
I have never been as sick as Thursday night. I ate dinner and within 1hr I was sweating, cramping, puking, shitting, and then shakinh and writhing in pain on the bathroom floor screaming for help.

I seriously have never been in so much pain. It was the nost viokent gastrointestinal issue I ever had. Comparatively, the appendix exploding hurt less although it was similar. Strangely, unlike bacterial or viral food poisoning I was fine several hours after puking my guys up.

The next day, I investigated everything I ate the night before and I found the culprit. The raspberries I bought from Wegmans the night before were thoroughly infested with white/gray mold and I didn't notice when I ate them with my dessert. It was dark in the kitchen so I just grabbed a handful from the fridge without inspecting. Big mistake. Who does that? I feel like such an idiot. At the same time paying $3+ for raspberries I bought the night before, I didn't expect they would have gone bad. I might never eat raspberries again.

Since then I systematically tried each and every other thing I ate that night with no problem. I threw the raspberries out. I should have brought then back to the store.

It was seriously the worst experience I could imagine. I was literally shaking and twitching on the floor.

I wonder if washing would have helped? Would one notice the mold and would it have been washed away? Good to at least know what caused it.....

I was pretty relieved that you found out what it was. That box had berries that were completely covered in spores on the inside. It was scary looking. Maybe you should put boxed berries on your always-wash-before-eating list. I wash berries too, but just once and twice if I am freezing them (unlike the obsessive compulsive washing of greens).

separate age of consent for same-sex
Category: vegas
I wonder what the argument for this was? I am not saying they should lower the age, but it seems like they should be the same.

According to Nevada Revised Statutes, the age of consent for opposite-sex relations in Nevada is 16 while the age of consent for same-sex relations is 18.

metalpeter - 12/06/11 16:37
16 I'm moving to Nevada.....HA. It does seem odd that they aren't the same..... Guessing the age of consent is a very old law.... Not sure about that states history or when laws changed but there was a time that at 16 you had kids and a family go back far enough you might find some 12 and 14 think the the non Disney real Pocahontas was 12.... Again just a guess that when they came up with the law of what was legal for same sex they wanted to protect from rape and said both people had to be adults so they made it 18? Again no idea just a guess......

BJ's

No, despite its name and upside triangle logo, it is not a gay bar. It is, however, a very delicious chain restaurant and brewery out west. I wish we had them in NY. The fried artichoke heart appetizer is the best appetizer I have ever had. It is the perfect blend of crispy outside and soft inside. We ate there 4 times between LA and Vegas because it was so good. They even have a gluten free menu.

Mini Pies
Category: food
Cookies gave way to cupcakes. Cupcakes gave way to macaroons and now, as (e:hodown) said, macaroons are being moved over to make room for mini pies. How cute are those little lemon marengue ones.

Driscoll Progeny at a wedding
Category: weddings
The wedding was beautiful. They were definately perfect for each other. In fact, the friends of both even quoted letters they had written about each other when they first met.

Are they famous: :::link:::

PS: those two look like they stepped off frames of a Hollywood rom-com! Terry has an impossibly good-looking family. Are some of them in the movies? :)
paul - 12/04/11 17:31
Those are the descandants of the Driscoll family and they are at a wedding for one of them.
tinypliny - 12/04/11 17:23
What is a "Driscoll Progeny"? And I did google it. Your post is the first hit.

Did you mean to say the cute couple will have droll progeny? :)
