basra the bionic super tortoise
Category: pets
I had this dream that basra the tortoise (e:paul,54485) dried up and his shell cracked open. He one eye dried off and his arms and legs had dried up into stumps. Even though half of his organs were hanging out his shell and he couldn't really, see he was still alive.

After a serious freakout where we all tried to blame each other for letting him dry out, we scooped him up and held him together with wegmans bags and hangers. Once we got him to the vet, she said she had been conducting research on this type of problem and that she could turn him into a bionic tortoise for ~$20,000 and that he would have his normal lifespan. He would also be able to hook him up to a computer system and communicate directly brain by writing computer programs. As soon as I decided to go through with the procedure, I woke up.

Heheh.. very entertaining. That is SO you, something that your brain would construct. (Obsession with amputations + computer technology + roadkill)

As long as your kid had a recent tetnus shot.
tinypliny - 06/17/11 15:49
I bet it had cushions where the screws are. If you imagine it new, it doesn't look that bad.

I'd guess from the 70's. It was all about plastic molded accessories then.

Blues Traveler
Category: thursday
Went to Thursday in the square last night to see Blues Traveler. Despite it being packed, the lack of chairs made moving around much easier and we got right up front. Its so entertaining to watch girls throw themselves at (e:enknot). Seriously, its like deer on those corn feeders.

The sound on the video is horrible because we were so close up.

Thought about going but with the rain I passed and went to sportsman's to see the guy in a band who did "Hot Rod Lincoln" ...

Now onto something more fun figure out a percentage of how many of the girls throwing them selves at Tony went home with him.....Lucky Tony...

Lloyd's Taco truck
Category: food
For someone who doesn't love Mexican food this is unusual but I (e:Terry) wanted to eat at they taco truck so bad and he was willing to drive to it, so we went for lunch at the larkin complex parking lot.

The chicken burrito I had was amazing as was the yummy krazy corn. It was cheap and delicious which is a great combo. I would totally go back.

One of my former students designed the site where you can lookup the trucks location each day

I have only had it when it was at Music Is Art and it was good both times.... Now that being said (through the facebook page and not the website) I know that sometimes they have special food.... I don't remember what it was but they had something because of the holiday or event that was going on near the truck.....
heidi - 06/16/11 00:35
I want some!
mrmike - 06/15/11 22:14
Had their stuff a few times, always good quality foods
tinypliny - 06/15/11 22:04
They come to work on Tuesdays. I really love that corn thing. It's got something called garlic butter on it which is just chunks of garlic blended with butter. I didn't like that Nachos however, a tad too dull for me.

Solé on elmwood
Category: food
First off they did an amazing job on thr decor and presenntation. I never madr it to juniper ao I am not sure how nuch was already there but I love thee setup od the restaurant.

I had the fish tacos. They were pretty yummy and looked great but they were also $16. Everyone knows I have no problem spending money on food, but expensive Mexican food labeled as "street fare" seems like a contradiction to me.

The guacamole was good for me because it was not spicy, I think (e:terry) and (e:Heidi) felt different about the spiciness. They make it right ay the table which is pretty fun to watch and then server it in a stone pot.

In general there were a whole lot of tasting soubding items on thr menu that I would try and would try it again.

I bet its going to be hard for then to compete with the new Mexican restaurant being opened by the seabar folks at Allen and Elmwood.

I want those star-shaped lamps.
mike - 06/15/11 19:30
I'm glad you had a good time. From everyone I have heard who has went to it since it went on elmwwod they said it was horrible, the staff was rude, the food was messed up and not that good, and it was expensive for how not good it was. And a lot of complaints about the horrible service and waiting like an hour to get even their drinks let alone their food. I guess it must be improving
metalpeter - 06/15/11 17:09
I do want to try that place that isn't open yet on Allen never made it when it was steal crazy...Heard it moved out to the Galleria but not there very often so I don't know..... Trying to think of the last sit down Mexican place I went to eL carlo or something like that they got shut down Illegals pretending to be Mexicans I think was the problem.... My Point is what is it like to eat in kinda a fancy Mexican place? To me sounds kinda at odds I do miss Chi Chi's though that was the place to go.....
uncutsaniflush - 06/15/11 14:48
We went to the Elmwood location a couple of weeks ago with (e:leetee) "s mom. Everything we ordered was screwed up in some way. I got a pork taco special and everything was at room temperature and the rice was underdone. (e:leettee) got a mahi mahi tostada. it was cold. And my mom in law got the peruvian hen. It was hot but everything else on the plate with it was cold. They comped two entrees.

The decor is nice. And it is noisy. Hopefully, with time, the kitchen will get better at getting food while it is still hot. We enjoyed eating at the Walker Center location.
heidi - 06/15/11 12:54
The mojito was awesome. The food wasn't spicy enough even though we had asked for the guac to be spicy. The decor was beautiful and the chairs were comfy, although the space was rather noisy.
