Upload Speed Inequality
Category: computers
I don't understand why I can't get decent wired upload speeds in Buffalo. Every month I pay $99 for a FIOS account out in the suburbs because the city has no comparable upload speed service.

I was looking at some FCC data for Buffalo and it seems like the wireless upload speeds are topping wired already. I recognize that this is not a huge sample source but seriously, this is just totally ridiculous.

Wireless Averages (in kbps)
Average Download Speed10,896
Average Upload Speed7,016
Maximum Download15,168
Maximum Upload8,171
Wireless Tests39

Wired Broadband (in kbps)
Average Download Speed42,640
Average Upload Speed3,425
Maximum Download83,163
Maximum Upload3,747
Wired Tests24

You shouldn't post all these shiny stats. I have green vision as a result.

Asian food extavaganza
Category: food
I had delicious sushi for lunch at Fuji grill followed by dinner at PF Chang's. PF Chang's has a whole Gluten free menu for (e:matthew)

I however got my gluten intolletance test results and I am not gluten intollerant just allergic to wheat.

My blood pressure was a perfect 110/70.

Tommorow I take a mercury test. I am so curious with all this hype about the dangers of fish consumption. If I don't have a problem then its all bullshit.

So? What was the result? All your readers have passed out of holding their breaths too long - except me, who is their zombie spokesperson.
jbeatty - 10/28/10 22:25
Apparently dolphin is high in Mercury. Not that I have ever eaten it.

Bye Bye Building
Category: buildings
Today they ripped down the building next to the one I work in to build a parking lot. The thing that surprised me is that they didn't strip it at all. They just came in and smashed it to pieces for the garbage. I am so jealous if the guy who smashed it down - it looked really fun.

Do you know what it was? Was it a chapel? I always thought it was rather pretty... and was totally shocked when I saw it razed to the ground. Before they had the sense to start watering the debris down, I completely choked on the demolition dust on Thursday morning. People must have thought I was secretly crying for the building when I entered the lecture hall with my eyes streaming and a runny nose.
uncutsaniflush - 10/28/10 21:22
Are they recycling the bricks? Apparently, some types of brick have extra value because they are vintage and some builders seek such bricks for their projects.

I feel like it would be fun for the first hour and then you probably would be dizzy from all the spinning. They are going through today and picking out all the metal and probably will separate more for the trash.

I like pictures of what is on tv.
chris - 10/27/10 20:20
Lol I showed him. He said he used to hear that all the time when Peter was more famous. :)
matthew - 10/27/10 12:48
It does look like Chris. It is Peter Gallagher, in Dreamchild (1985).
theecarey - 10/26/10 21:14
I don't recognize the movie, but that looks like a young Peter Gallagher.

Wegmans Organic Chicken sucks
Category: food
I bought Wegmans organic chicken thighs and legs several times and if I didn't eat them the day I bought them they would reek like sulfer. Seriously, I threw them out like three times before I stopped buying them. At first I thought it was because I opened the fridge a lot, or didn't put them away fast enough.

I switched to the freebird brand at the coop and haven't had any trouble. Then today in (e:mike)'s car I saw this letter from Wegmans admitting the problem. I never got one!

If i could make out with Wegmans i would. I love them. I love them so much.
libertad - 10/25/10 22:50
Mike said that you still use your mom's shopper's club card. These chicken thighs are good when they are still fresh. The problem with Wegmans and other places, including the COOP, is that the freeze by or sell by dates are not accurate. I'm sure Wegmans put a lot of pressure on the source to increase the shelf life.

I also would like to say that not just a FEW people have complained about this. You should demand some free freaking chicken thighs. I didn't get a freaking coupon either. Screw you Wegmans. I have an updated card of my own too. First you take away sales, then you take away probably a dozen different items that I used to buy on a consistent basis, then you sell nasty ass chicken thighs.
fing - 10/24/10 22:23
We did not buy the organic chicken but they had a brand that they carried a brand that was between regular and organic chicken. They have however just discontinued them which sucks for us. It was not free range but did not have any hormones injected in it. It was about 7 to 8 dollars for 3 breasts. They were really nice and I don't think we ever had a problem with them. One thing about Wegmans is that they do take customer service seriously. My wife has written letters in the past and employees have called to follow up with her and get feedback.
jbeatty - 10/24/10 08:56
I returned them once!!! I was almost knocked over by the smell when I peeled back the plastic. They smelled horrible. I never got my letter either. I have really had some issues with meat at Wegmans over the past couple of years. Yesterday I bought scallops from them only after the guy at the counter allowed me to smell them. I have had to return chicken, a bag of half dead mussels, and tuna that stunk of ammonia. These are just the ones I returned there was definitely more that I just threw away. I have been buying most of my beef and pork at Dash's, The Bidwell market and Spars. The unfortunate thing is finding fresh fish is a tall order in Buffalo. I do go to Hayes occasionally, but I have had bad arctic char from there too. I guess I can only eat seafood in restaurants :(
tinypliny - 10/23/10 22:07
Do you always swipe your club card when you shop there?
