This is my first test post from estrip8. I am sure there are a ton of issues seeing as I programmed it piecemeal over the last 6 years about 2 hours a week and have scrapped and restarted over a bunch of times. It does not necessarily represent a lot of new features, but rather brings it up to date with my surebert framework so that I can more easily add new features and fixes in the future. Hope you enjoy it.
Sorry about the lack of themes. I will create them shortly. I have some already in production.

Android Application UpdateCategory: android
You can now simply select estrip share from any menu that supports text sharing including the link sharing in the browser and other apps such as engadget. If you see their is an update for the estrip app, just update. If however, you do not see an update, please delete and download from the marketplace. I lost my private key last week and had to restart a new app in the marketplace, although it has the same name.

The island and the vote? anonomanCategory: estrip
Up until this point I have never deleted anyone because of anything other than posting commercial content, which I never hesitate to do. I am fine with deleting this guy because his postings are harassing which is against the TOS. However, I fear if you guys determine that you want to delete people based on a group vote mentality that everyone will get deleted at some point. I can guarantee at one time or another I have heard from just about every single person how they are so angry about what some other person posted and yet we all made it through because I don't delete people based on content.
This person is different based on the fact that they are not really a member of the community but more like a harasser, so go ahead and post your feelings here about it.
What makes it all so weird is that (e:theli) has not complained about it but maybe he is embarrassed? I have no idea.

Thanks for all your feedback. I spoke with the person who I needed to. He is gone.

From a community stand point, something that runs off, or kills members of the community isn't healthy. I'll admit I'm mainly voyeristic, but I still enjoying hanging around and randomly posting. I think it's a shame (e:theli) no longer feels he can.

I have seen this debate before on other sites. Notions about preserving free speech versus the health of the community boil down to "should we delete trolls or should we let them troll".
Trolls are not worthy of consideration. They do no good for the community and should be removed from the community. Anonoman has not posted anything on this site that was not trolling.

I second (e:libertad)'s and (e:janelle)'s comments. (e:anonoman) is here to bully and harass (e:theli) and so zir use of the site is in violation of the TOS. Us sniping at each other once in a while or being a little mean isn't bullying, it's not using the public space to drive someone else out of it.

I have a bit of a problem with him (Her Maybe) being deleted for one reason, and that is we the reader don't know the entire story. What I mean is that yes it seems to me like (e:anonoman) is here just to attack or bother (e:theli) . Yes I do believe (e:theli)'s side of the story but I don't have him as a friend on any other sites and I don't know what happened out side of the web, in other words in real life. So is it really fair to kick (e:anonoman) off the site when maybe something happened that causes this person to do what they are doing (from their Perspective).
What I don't get is why doesn't (e:anonoman) Just write a blog and explain what went on from their side of the story.
I have another issue with Deleting (e:anonoman). If this Person's only reason for joining is to go after (e:theli) won't they Just later join as someone else or take someone's phone and Join or find another way onto the site?
I also Have a fear that if you start here where would it stop? I won't name any names here but I know there have been (e:peeps) that haven't gotten along before (someone took a phone and said stuff on facebook I think) well what if something like that spreads here. What if two people Just can't along and get into it on line would it really be right to have to chose who to kick off or kick them both off what about people who are friends with them.
I don't want to say that (e:anonoman) should stick around but I think in the end deleting him would be a bad idea. This doesn't mean that what he did was right by the way.

(e:libertad) - (e:paul) wrote "What makes it all so weird is that (e:theli) has not complained about it but maybe he is embarrassed?" So I figured that if (e:paul) said that (e:theli) hadn't complained that meant that (e:etheli) hasn't complained. I stand corrected.
My oringal point was that if (e:theli) complains about harassment that means that anonoman has violated the TOS. Good Bye anonoman. Nobody needs to vote him/her off the island.
I'll grant your point about the chatter - it is hard to avoid. On the other hand, I have no trouble selectively reading comments.
I think I'll hush now lest I be voted off the island myself.

I would also add that it is impossible not to read what anonoman is writing since they are comments and chatter not actual journals that we can avoid clicking on. This type of behavior can be the worst type of bullying and the most damaging because of the amounts of people who see it.

(e:theli) is complaining and in fact feels he can't even use the website anymore because of the harassment.
"theli writes at 01:57:27 04/16/10 - Comment #55812theliCongrats. I'm taking a hiatus from posting on all online social sites.
Asshole."
"theli writes at 01:30:51 04/16/10 - Comment #55807theliThere is no relationship. Every inch I give turns into a mile. There was never any stability. And my wanting to live my own life is beset by guilt trips of the highest order.
I feel bad for inflicting this upon estrip."

Don't delete because of a group vote, delete because he broke the terms of services. It seems black and white. You know when someone is being snippy and mean in the moment, but this guy is stalking/harassing via your site.

I share your feelings on the group vote mentality regarding content. I tend to think that if (e:theli) hasn't complained, the content doesn't rise to the level of harrassment; and thus, it would be inappropriate to delete anonoman. Those that don't like anonoman can choose not to read him/her. Of course, the fact that anonoman doesn't really have any content other than comments and chat is an indication that he/she is not interested in being a member of the community. Another clue to the lack of interest is the name "anonoman" itself. But I don't think that in and of itself is a TOS violation.
I reckon if all the people who don't like anonoman ignore him/her, anonoman would get bored and go away. Problem solved.

Yeah, I vote delete. I see how it's kind of slippery slope. Sure there are/have been people who say things that piss people off- I'm sure we all have. but this guy is almost like a spammer in that he contributes nothing to the community, and is just there to harass someone else. If he has an issue, he should take it up in private- not anonymously in public like a big coward.

Buffalo News Article I MissedCategory: estrip
Somehow I missed this Buffalo News article that mentioned estrip.
(E:strip):
This is the self-proclaimed "original neighborhood blogging community" of Buffalo - inspired specifically by the Elmwood Village strip.
A fairly sophisticated site, it allows for image, sound and video embedding, as well as a mobile/dial-up site for the blogger who just can't wait until he or she gets home to tell everyone about that squirrel fight in Delaware Park.
Blogging topics on this site are broad, including but not limited to animals (with such delightful posts as "A bird in the hand means poop on the car" and "Chinese death camp for cats") and Food ("Dave don't eat it!" and "Subway. Finger-licking Freedom").
Turns out, the Elmwood strip is a popular hangout in cyberspace, too.

Hey (e:Paul), I can't seem to find the RSS feed for the site.
The site looks good! And fast too (judging from the float number at the top)
I really enjoy the new version. Today is the first day I really got to try it out. It seems so much faster.
I tried to sign in from my Roswell computer but it wouldn't let me. Maybe it is cause they use Internet Explorer?
Congrats Paul!
Congrats! Thank you for putting so much work into it, Paul.
