The Turkey Chronicles: Meal 2
I threw a couple of slices of the cooked turkey breast in a skillet with olive oil, lightly browned it on each side, and then let it finish heating up in a small pool of cooking wine.

The Turkey Chronicles: Meal 1
In the spring when Price Rite opened, my husband lugged home a 14 lb turkey for $4. I scoffed at the turkey. Seriously, he wanted us to roast a turkey? Then I grew resentful at the turkey taking up such a large space in the freezer. But this month, with the grocery budget tight from Christmas, the turkey became my friend. And I'm going to see how far a roasted turkey can get us.

Meal 1: I roasted the turkey. It had a lovely brown crispy skin and a fragrant smell. In my vanity, I sacrificed juiciness for appearance for my turkey was dry. But the gravy I made tasted fabulous. We carved it up and had a few pieces to eat for dinner.

Apartment Needed
I have a friend looking for a 1br or studio apt for 6 months in the Buff state area. If any of you know a place....she would be a great tenant. Very responsible. Pay on time.

Trader Joe's
Today I exchanged $20 of my hard earned money for:

Dried Mangosteens
Olives stuffed with garlic
Olives stuffed with jalapenos
Olive Tapenade spread
Italian Grapefruit Soda

I love Trader Joes

Oh! It was love at first taste. It was nutty and fruity and a great deal of happiness. I ate the entire bag in one sitting.

Did you like the dried mangosteen? When I bought it, well, it was nice but not my favorite.
janelle - 12/29/09 19:45
We were in Pittsburgh.

Have I told you about my campaign to get a Trader Joe's here?

Once a week I write the most creepy letter I can. "Joe, I can't go to sleep at night. I lay awake staring at my ceiling imagine I am one of 12 varieties of soy milk in your cooler, looking up and hoping someone takes me home and drinks me. Joe, my heart is empty without you. I want you to fill me so I forget what it is like to live in a place without you."

I hope I get a restraining order.

Where are you, exactly?

Byron Brown
My blog post about Byron Brown is a little more amusing than Joshua's.

My mom and I did the City Hall tour and during the tour you get to go into the Mayor's office. It's a large room with 2 or 3 office rooms inside that room.

Byron Brown was in the main office area. He stopped and greeted my mom and me. And my mom stuck out her hand right out and said, "Hi Byron, how are you."

I couldn't stop laughing for the rest of the day that my mom was on first name basis with the mayor.

I don't think I can draw humor out of the subject of Byron Brown. That is a very dry well indeed.
joshua - 12/16/09 11:00
Byron Brown doesn't deserve or merit security like that.

His office lost a packet of documents and a deadline was hours away. So I walked to his office to have his secretary sign them. Of course, they wouldn't let me in. The armed guard at the door refused to let me enter.

Funny how his doors are wide open for tours.

That's great!
tinypliny - 12/15/09 20:07
I shook his hand too and said hi as a bonus at the Susan G. Komen race but he didn't donate spit at our "Spit for the Cure" campaign. Bleh
