One complete but unpainted windowCategory: windows
I have to wait 7-14 days for the putty to skim before it can be
painted. This is an insane amount of work. I have a much deeper
understanding of just how complex windows can be.

It was definately done by hand. You can tell from how each price of glass was cut semi differently, I think the difference is that it was probably 100 hands and not two.

I wonder how this was all done when the house was built. It had to have been done by hand back then as well.

You are dedicated. I would totally give up if I had this much detailed re-modding staring at me.

So that window alone took about 8-10 hours and there are 17 remaining.

Almost done with window oneCategory: linwood
This whole stripping, sanding, priming, cutting glass, reglazing is
time consuming. Especially, considering the window is really made up
of 17 panes.
Also just got done painting the dormer we primed last week. It looks
awesome in dark brown like the house is carved from a solid block of
dark chocolate.

No. I was wearing pants I had just painted in and was sitting on the couch to do this but in like 20 minutes I had to go do a second coat. I decided out of laziness that it was easy to just pull them down while I worked on the window so that I could sit on the couch.

Who eats this shitSomeone I know actually bought this. It kind of blows my mind that
anyone would choose this inedible looking pizza sitting in styrofoam,
wrapped in plastic.
It's just one step away from canned pizza as far as I am concerned.

Just thought of why for fruits and vegetables why it is a great idea. For the same reason it is with meats. It means you don't have to have a scale and have someone weigh it then take it to the counter. Plus it also lets you change your price with ease. Lets say something is $5 a pound and you order it but a bunch of the fruit is bad. Well to make up that money you would have to go out and change a sign and that might get tricky. But packaged you just print out a new label.

(e:jenks): I am really not sure they wash the veggies in these packages. I was told that it was a "convenience thing" for the shop because consumers would not be able to:
a) Cherry pick the non-rotten veggies
b) Forced to buy a certain quantity and the stock would be cleared.
Veggies packaged this way are usually a BIG SIGN that they are not as fresh as the loose ones and that the shop is trying to sell them out by packaging them - they are probably last of the lot.
However, I know for a fact that Guercio's packages beans, peppers, snap peas etc. in these packages for no reason at all - because if you ask them for a bigger quantity that is not packaged, they easily bring that out as well. I have a suspicion that the packages are the last of a particular lot of vegetables but when you ask them for loose veggies, they open a new lot.

(e:metalpeter) you have a good point. Honestly, I don't find that pizza gross at all. If it were on a plate or just out there, I am dead positive many of us would take it and heat it up in the oven/microwave it without thinking.
BUT, its in THAT hideous packaging - which I hate, even for vegetables. On top of it, the label implies that you could probably just pop it in the microwave, package and all - not a very responsible message.

I don't like those toppings, but that is a cheap piece of Pizza with all that stuff on it. Hey if it is ok to buy frozen meat like that what is wrong with pizza. The Part that I find odd is that you can tell that an entire pie was made and then it was cut that way so why not just sell the slices by the slice instead of like that?

BTW, Paul, I hope this person you know is a poor person that has no other options. I can understand poor people eating that slop but if you have a choice??? Then it's worth an intervention.

well that pizza looks gross, but I *do* like the pre-washed/chopped veggies. yes, it's lazy. But, it makes me more likely to eat veggies if I don't have to do the work.

But I do. I don't get it. I have suggested that they get rid of this wasteful and downright toxic practice altogether in several written notes to the Pricerite management over the past few months AND personally every time I go to Guercio's (to the great Guercio family members). I have also written in my concerns at the Wegmans and Tops chains in the past (and then gave up because they never listen anyway).
Pricerite took some steps (or at least I think they did)when they stopped putting peppers and string beans in these stupid packages - for almost 2 months. I think now they are back to doing the same thing. I intend writing once again and/or speaking with the management. It is unacceptable. :/

Not very different from all those veggies that are chopped up and put in styrofoam padding and then wrapped in cling film. Try telling the shop how wasteful and silly all of it and they turn a deaf ear - including Guercios, Wegmans, Pricerite etc.
