Mobile post from the thirsty buffalo. Thought I would grace you with a little review as it happens.
Firstly, we sit 'outside' where we are blessed with the occasional whiff of sewage.
The waitress brings me a coffee cup that has coffee stains on the side. suspicious.
We sit next to either three hipsters or two gay men and their fruit fly.
There is something green floating in my water.
Quesadillas are great. (E:laurens) chicken bacon ranch wrap is 'pretty good'.

beer mom and beaBeerology was fun. Just like anything involving beer, there was a large about of people standing in line for beer. But I got enough beer in me to be tipsy, and to marvel at the Egyptian exhibit. Damn I love ancient Egypt. Also, playing with all the fun science experiments was fun while tipsy also.
All in all, I'm not sure if it was worth $25 a ticket, unless I end up winning tickets to the other event involving wine, appetizers and star gazing.
Mom is doing great now that she had her surgery. Just wishing she could get the hell home. She was mad she missed all the yard sales around town.
In more important news... I am so damn sad at the passing of Bea Arthur. She was my HERO. I'm not even kidding, I loved that woman.

thank youthanks to all of your for your well wishes for my mom..
She had surgery last night for a part of her bowels that had slipped through the hole from her dialysis tube. It cut off her digestive track and caused her to vomit for almost 2 weeks. Looks like so far she is doing much better.
Thanks again. I can enjoy friday's beerology at the science museum now. Anyone else going?

I'm dropping a hell of a lot of F bombswhere do i begin....
my mother is in the hospital. has been throwing up for over a week. hasn't been able to eat as a result, in over a week. the doctors have no fucking idea what is wrong with her. they will say, oh this is what it probably is, and then its not. they haven't exactly been putting too much effort or concern into her.
she is producing large amounts of bile, which is what shes throwing up. Yesterday, the Dr stopped in for his 'hey I'm here, okay i can log it and get paid for this' visit and when he, once again, said 'don't' know whats wrong with you,' my brother asked him why the hell mom was vomiting far more than she was taking in. the Dr. actually thought about this morning and decided to run a scope into her stomach today. Why the FUCK does it take my brother's asking of a si9mple goddamn question to prompt a Dr to do his fucking job? I'm so fucked up, mad, concerned, etc. about this. I mean FUCK.
Is there anything I can do? Any way of reporting dr.s that just don't seem to give a goddamn?? I'm so stressed about this.
Secondly, not 2 weeks after my car accident and subsequent $400+ bill, and Lauren's bullshit ticket, (e:lauren) 's car decides to shit a brick. So we have it at the mechanics right now. First its the coil - and apparently she's been running on 2 cylinders. Once they get the coil, then they can figure out if its a catalytic converter.
What really fucking sucks is that we only need this car for 4 more months until we move to NYC. Which, in case any of you are doing the math, is seriously taking a whole hell of a lot out of our "move to NYC" fund.
which brings me to my next point... My supposed best friend last night informed me that because she is miserable living at her brothers for these FEW fucking short months until I get there, she is going into a deal with her former employer (who, incidentally fucked her royally and caused her to be in serious financial debt) wherein she is getting an apartment in NY by herself, and her former boss will pay for half of it as long as he can stay there 2-3 times a month.
As in she will not be moving in with us, splitting a 2 bedroom with us, she casually says she wants to move into this apartment and we would have to find one on our own. FUCK YOU.
Okay, so moral of the whole fucking story? Someone took a big shit on my parade.
Now I have to go get ready to drive to LOCKPORT to pick up all the Cellphones that I was transferring to the SPRINGVILLE store and forgot yesterday, and then drive to SPRINGVILLE.
So, I haven't posted in a while, and this is the angry fucked up woah is me post i post? yup. Fuck.

thanks to everyone's well wishes...
(e:jenks) my mother is on peritoneal dialysis, just recently from last summer. They originally decided that it was a stomach bug and sent her home. Then they did some bloodwork, and from the results of that decided it wasn't peritonitis, and said it was just a blockage. They put a tube down her throat (which causes her severe claustrophobia/panic attacks) and drained an excessive amount of bile from her stomach. They said it was a blockage. They gave her medicine to help her pass it. Then after some more xrays they said that there might not have been any blockage at all. My mother felt loads better. they took the tube out, her throat was sore, but not sick. Next day she was vomiting all over herself again. After my brother pressing the dr about why there was so much coming out when NOTHING was coming in, DR decided to do a scope and a CT scan to check for gallbladder issues and etc.
The scope found a small polyp in her duodenum, which they brushed off as not a problem, and nothing much else. We are waiting to see the results of the CT scan.
Original problem was the vomiting/abdominal bloating/pain in the stomach. She is gassy, but does not have diarrhea. They have occasionally said (back and forth) maybe it has something to do with her peritoneal tube, maybe a hernia from the surgery, maybe not. She does not drink, and i'm not sure of her poop.
She mentioned a gallbladder problem that has run in the family many times to the dr, and they kept saying, no thats not it. actually her dr, at her questions, often brushes things off and has to apologize to her twice already as a result. this is why i want to scream at the dr.
and yes, we are moving to NYC... i guess... :) thanks for your help jenks!

i clearly missed something- you're moving to NYC?!
and re your mom...
I really doubt (HOPE!) that they were ignoring her and doing nothing. Even if we only stop in for a few minutes in the AM, that doesn't mean we're not working on things for you all day long.
That said... bilious vomiting usually means some kind of obstruction somewhere. Could be a bowel obstruction from scar tissue from previous surgery. Could be a gallbladder/pancreas problem. Could be a mass/tumor. Is she having abdominal pain, too? has her poop changed color (like from brown to gray?) does/did she drink a lot (of alcohol)? has she farted/pooped recently? Any diarrhea? Has she ever had surgery before? How long has this been going on? what medical problems does she have?
Those are some questions I'd start with...
I would start with bloodwork and an abdominal xray, then most likely a CT scan (not so much an MRI)- and I agree with the thought of an EGD (scope).
As far as getting your doctors' attention... it's a fine line. I don't recommend you sit back and do nothing. But at the same time, don't be an obnoxious pain in the ass. When we know we're going to be accosted by a million people with a million questions as soon as we walk in a room- it makes us not want to go in. That may sound horrible- but trust us. We haven't forgotten about you. Also- try to be there when the team comes by on rounds. that's the best time to get them. Asking the nurses to page the doctors to come talk to you does not win you points.
(not trying to be harsh or obnoxious, just honest.)

Positive vibes to you. And do what Jim said, I had no troubling raising cane at Sisters when my kids arrived and when my Dad was treated there.

If they're not taking your Mom being sick seriously it's up to your family to make sure she's getting the care she needs. Raise as much ruckus as you have to.
Have they done any body scans? If they haven't done a CAT scan or MRI then demand it.
I'll be thinking of you and her...

Alex, next time you go, you want to go to the St. Sixtus Monastery and get the Westvleteren 12, the Holy Grail of Beer, and a drop that I would do some seriously dirty shit to taste.

damn jay, I'll go beer tasting with you!
and unfortunately I didn't get your message in time, and couldn't find the beer you wanted. All I brought back was some chimay, which is not even hard to find here- but there were too many carry-on restrictions, so I had to buy it in duty-free and the selection was limited. :( I did have a tasty delirium nocturnum while there though, and had a rochefort back at the house too. :)
Ok felly sorry for hijacking!

It looks like an interesting event. Merchant Du Vin imports some of my favorite Belgians - Orval, Trappiste Rochefort, Westmalle.

fruit fly=fag hag. Sounds nicer doesn't it?
I have to ask - what is a fruit fly?
And I wholeheartedly agree with (e:James) about sports bars and lack of beer selection. Right now there are two bars I know of that have a proper beer selection, and one of them is decidedly not a sports bar.
That whole place is pretty meh. I mean, if you are a sports bar and call yourself Thirsty Buffalo, shouldn't you have actual beer selection?
Oh and the waitress seemed like she couldn't give a shit about being here.
Wow, sounds great, lol.
