Moving video about Prop 8

The Don't Divorce Us campaign...

Thanks to (e:Lauren), (e:FellyConnelly) and (e:) Vincent for hanging out at Nietzsche's last night. Zili Misik was INCREDIBLE! And as always, the Stripteasers were lots of fun.
metalpeter - 02/07/09 18:30
First of all I'm glad you 3 had a lot of fun, I wanted to go but I'm sick and was worse last night and going out would have been a bad idea, glad you 3 had a great time.

In terms of the video that is pretty good. Legally though I don't know what will and what should happen. I would think that since people where legally married at the time that those ones that took place before Prop 8 was passed should count, but not sure about that since I don't know the exact rules or laws of prop 8 or laws of that state. I know that if I was someone in that spot I would want an answer of does it count or not right away as opposed to being in limbo land, but that is just me.

Look what I found at the coop! Not to name names...

I was stuck all day Sunday in the basement of the law school building at North Campus. A schoolmate gave me a ride back to Allen. My truck had been stuck all week on Irving Place...

image (Truck on Friday 1/30)

... and I thought I'd try to get it unstuck since I had the assistance of the sun. Someone along Irving had left their snow shovel on the edge of the street so I borrowed it for a few minutes and freed my truck. (Thank you, parking gods!) Then I went for a ride before going to (e:Drew) & (e:Janelle)'s for spicy lentil dip, Hotels, beer, and Gilmore Girls. (e:Drew), (e:metalpeter), & (e:mrmike) wer very noisy in the other room, but I don't know what they were doing ;-) (e:jim), (e:james), (e:janelle) & i were quietly enjoying ourselves!

The ride was gorgeous. I went to that little bit of land that has the sewer plant on it and signs for Riverwalk. (Can anyone tell me its real name?) I should have grabbed my real camera - the angle of the sun was perfect.

I drove to school on Tuesday because... well, I guess I was feeling lazy and didn't want to take my big laptop on the metro. I pulled into the metered spots because I'd only be there 1.5 hrs and the lot was already full. Too bad the meters were all frozen! I left 3 quarters just in case the parking gods were no longer pleased with me.

My substantive classes start tomorrow. I'm dreading it because now I have to focus again, but I'm excited because it's stuff I'm more interested in and it'll be good to have a routine again. This semester I have property, contracts, and civil procedure & ethics. The property book starts with how the U.S. government justified taking all the land from the Native Americans. It really is shameful.

tinypliny - 02/05/09 18:31
Hehehe.. didn't you know I run a side business? ;)
That is such a cool picture of the frozen coin-collector-things!
metalpeter - 02/05/09 17:31
First of all nice pictures. Second of all we did make noise but no where near as much as just blanked on the kids name, I think when I was that young I had that much energy and wish I had it now. When I saw you there I thought you came for the Football game I was wrong, but you could have stayed and watched the end of it, it was pretty good, glad you had a good time, that dip was pretty good. In terms of the Indians I find things from back then strange. Blacks could be free if the hunted Indians , Bob Marley even has a song about it. But where things get odd is that the Government would give the Indians land and then sometimes gold or some other thing worth something would get found in the ground and the Indians would get kicked out and get a new home. I all ways assumed that is how the term Indian Giver was came up with, but no idea if that is true.

That wee strip of land is called Bird Island.

(e:tinypliny), it was so nice to see you this morning! Such a warm bright treat on a cold windy day. I wish I was going to keep taking that bus this semester!

I visited this foyer recently and wanted to share with (e:matthew)! I wish I had taken a couple more shots to show the detailing.

Now this is some Buffalove (seen outside Cafe 59 1/12):

The Inauguration Ale at Village Beer Merchant was $25.99/growler. Yikes! The guy said it was really good and that he really couldn't charge his usual markup for it - it would have been about $36.

This possum has been terrorizing my buddies Jill & Kelly at the office. They're afraid of it. Meanwhile, Jill's husband has been feeding it cat food. (more about oppossums: )

Is it 406 Linwood? What is it being used as, some kind of office space?
heidi - 02/04/09 21:22
The foyer is actually on Linwood. I think I'll keep taking pix of it to taunt you! :-)
matthew - 01/30/09 01:08
OMG! i love that foyer! i bet it's all quarter sawn oak. I'm guessing 1880's - 1890's? I must tell you, the more you get to know me the more you'll learn; never, EVER, show me a foyer nicer than mine! I might have to burn it down!! LOL. It's truly beautiful. Is it in Buffalo or Penn?
joshua - 01/29/09 23:31
Last week at their 1-year anniversary party Village Beer Merchant had Ommegang there and I sampled their Obamagang. I have to say - it isn't worth $26 per growler. I'm not sure it is worth $15 per growler... I thought it was fairly average.
tinypliny - 01/29/09 23:00
It was wonderful to see you as well. I think I totally forgot about the cold once I started talking to you! I didn't realize that my hair was actually wet and had frozen to icicles by the time I made it to the class!! Talk about the power of conversations. :D

tonight?
Anyone wanna hang out tonight? I'm here in Buffalo but I don't have enough schoolwork to keep me occupied.
theli - 01/19/09 12:10
Cool.
james - 01/19/09 12:08
If I can convince a crowd of people to play I will invite you along for zombie near-fun.
theli - 01/19/09 11:57
Ahh. Don't think I've played that one yet.
james - 01/19/09 11:51
"Zombies!!!" by Twilight Creations. They also made an HP Lovecraft game.
theli - 01/19/09 11:39
Nice. There are some pretty good zombie boardgames out there. Which one did you play?
james - 01/18/09 15:17
It was fun hanging out heidi. Next time I promise we wont play that zombie game. Rather, I will use the zombie pieces to mod Risk. Can you escape the growing zombie pandemic to Australia?
heidi - 01/18/09 11:47
I won the complicated Zombie game! (Only because I had a special card that let me jump ahead of everyone else.)

Thanks for inviting me, (e:drew) & (e:janelle)! (e:jim) & (e:james) - always a pleasure!

Others - feel free to invite me to hang out sometime. I'm often alone more than what's good for me.

jim - 01/18/09 09:59
We also played a very complicated zombie game, that I did not win.
jim - 01/18/09 09:58
Heidi went with us to Drew and Janelle's where I kicked everyone's ass at scrabble! Wahoo! Go me!
vincent - 01/18/09 01:33
I'm sorry I just saw this now as well. I have been chilling at home due to the snowfall.

paul - 01/18/09 01:06
Sorry I just saw this now ;(
imk2 - 01/17/09 17:58
sorry, too cold to move.
