They have the Vosges bacon chocolate at wegman's now. I can't begin
to tell you what a crazy adventure I took while in Vegas to get some
for (e:mike)'s birthday.

The shedding tool? Category: pets
We just saw this by the cash register at pet supplies plus on
Deleware. Each person that walks by does a double take. What can it
possibly do for $50. Does it come with "happy ending" LOL. Somehow I
think I might have written about this before.
As a side note, I also updated the pics from the trip to the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens (e:paul,47265)
Why do people always use the snow on our porch as an ashtray. I can't stand smokers of filtered cigarettes that leave their butts everywhere. They do not biodegrade. I am fine with rollies being left around, but the plastic filter thing is redic. The lack of responsibility smokers take in their trash disposal is astounding. (E:iriesara) being an exception as I saw her storing her butts in her purse.
I walk to work every day and the path is usually covered in snow. Depending on how fresh it is, it is in many differnt states.
Clean Snow
It was so cold that day, the door got ice in the hinge which froze it open.
Dirty Snow
Two days later, it started raining a bit and warmed up. You guys probably remember seeing it was only like a week ago. This made for messing sloshy, muddy, scum snow.
tinypliny - 01/11/09 09:59 I like walking to work. While other people are whining over how tough it is to dig their cars out of ice, drive on ice etc, I don't have any such problems. Hehehe. I feel smug being able to walk!
lauren - 01/10/09 14:22 I hate dirty snow. I think I would hate winter less if snow was never dirty.

Korean vegtable? Category: food
We ate at Korea house the other day and had the Korean barbaque. It's so awesome, you sit around the grill while the matronly Korean lady cooks your food. Then you get letuce leaves and rice along with a
multitude of side dishes from kimchee to radish and fish cakes. You take all the side dish things and put them on the rice with the meat and then wrap it all in a lettuce leaf, kind of like a lettuce taco.
God, it is so tasty. Anyhow, this time they had something she refered to ask Kohare. At least I think so. It was a delicious vegtables that resembled some sort of plant stem. Does anyone know about it? I want more.
tinypliny - 01/11/09 10:00 Lotus stem? Just guessing... Were they hexagonal and had 6-7 holes on transverse section?
lilho - 01/10/09 16:35 seriously so delish and counting the days until i can go back!

A Virus On The Prowl Category: computers
Remember when I wrote about my feeling concerning getting rid of windows in government organizations (e:paul,47052) - well nothing could underscore it more than a computer virus outbreak at the hospital yesterday. Its something virus makers probably don't even think about - what hapens when their stupid programs hit life or death kind of places.
Its such a disaster waiting to happen. Vendor software is not always compatible with system updates, systems don't get patched, worm comes and bam! It just seems like such a bad idea to have everything depend on windows and then worse to run an outdated OS from 5 years ago with IE6, a stone age browser. Especially considering those two in combo are the biggest and weakest attack vector. Its just asking for trouble.
The worm was getting people accounts locked out and slowing down the network. Imagine if you were at the hospital for some serious treatment/appointment and the computers were "on the fritz" because of unsafe computing, argh.
I made this image for a journal about bluetooth cell phone virus's back in 2004 (e:paul,31005) but I think it still gives a similar feeling for the drama.
tinypliny - 01/11/09 10:03 Did it affect Roswell's departmental office computers as well? My network access is always dead slow. I can hum the first stanza of the national anthem of India before anything loads.
chocolate and bacon, heaven in a bar.
