vacation in Indian Summer
This year at my job I got (11.25) days off of which I've taken (3)

So the remaining eight days need to be used before the end of the year.
These are on top of the traditional US holidays plus [A] the first day of hunting season in Michigan (17Nov) and [B] a whole stinking week at Christmas-time.

So I took off nearly every other Friday from now to January, plus many of the Thursdays preceding.

Not to get into a work discussion but instead: WOO how does it feel to have so much free time? It feels great.

It feels great cause its pretty goddamn beautiful out and theres a lot of cool stuff to do when you have a lot of time.

Truly autumn is a bejeweled finger on the freak 6-finger hands of the calendar.

ALSO NOTE, DC & NY PEEPS:
So I know a guy who works for Meneral Gotors and he was saying how there is a mini-fleet of 100 or so fuel-cell vehicles that are out in the field right about now.

NY & DC dudes and dudettes alike can supposedly sign up for a 'test drive' at this here page.

I, I mean, my friend doesn't know any details about this dealy, but maybe it would be cool to hear about.
So you should try it out and then write about it.

litres
Hey how much would you guess you pee a day?

A guy I work with was out a few days last week with kidney stones. This prompted us to to look on Wikipedia (they call it Peteypedia at work because I always use it to settle bets) .
So theres a really ugly picture of a kidney stone on the page but the big thing that got me was they say that you should produce 2 to 2.5 liters of urination a day as an indication of a healthy piss system.

So thats like 70+ fluid ounces or more than a rectangular carton of orange juice a day.

I thought about trying to collect and measure my 'throughput' this weekend but then I realized how fucking stupid that was.

Instead, I'm just going to drink a lot of water and hope for no kidney stones. FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS

Urinary Health:

nah... that's too much... "acceptable" urine output is 0.5 ml/kg/hr- the "avg person" is 70kg so that's 35ml/hr. That's 840/day. Give or take.

Just call me jenksipedia.

I heard somewhere that you are supposed to drink around 6 or 8 glasses of water a day. I'm not sure how much pee that would make. But what I can say is that it doesn't only come from stuff you drink. I don't know how much you get from things that have water or juice in them like fruits and vegies but should get some from things you eat.

let it go
I saw a shootin star last night and it made me think about a firefly I hit with my truck in July.

At first it was a little streak of light in the dark but then it hit the windshield and the little dot got a little bigger.

Even though the firefly was at point a gummy mess, it was still glowing. As the glow faded away it occurred to me that it was probably a bad thing to hit a firefly with your truck, maybe like killing a mockingbird or something similar.

So I kind of felt bad and I"ll tell you what firefly, if we ever get reincarnated as the same species I"ll make it up to you. Like say we both are earthworms, one morning I can be the early earthworm (who would invariably get screwed by the early bird.)

I hope you got laid a lot and made lots of other fireflies.

::DOWNLOAD SOUND::

I found this MP3 from our band. It was a rough cut I encoded wrong and forgot I still had it.
It sounds better fast but I wish it had vocals.

Being forgetful and then finding stuff is like winning the stupid lottery, whereas the actual lottery is like paying a stupid tax.

I have never seen Grave of the fireflies but have heard it is very good. In terms of other fireflies I loved the series on Fox it was kinda a space western and should have stayed on longer. Also back in my kid days Firefly was Maybe my 3rd favorite character from G.I. Joe (very underused also) of course Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes where the best characters how does one pick a favorite really.
imk2 - 08/27/07 06:26
heh...your truck is now "the grave of the fireflies", which is actually a really sad movie.
lizabeth - 08/26/07 23:50
Yeah, they still glow when they hit.

I have such a thing for fireflies. Can't explain it, but I want one of my next tattoos to be a firefly.

Did you know they're used in microbiology labs? There's this test you can run on urine that uses a compound harvested from fireflies to test patients' samples for the presence of bacterial ATP. You add the "firefly juice" to the pee, and put it in this machine, and if it glows, then the person's sick.

Fireflies rule.
jenks - 08/26/07 23:10
I didn't even know it was possible to hit a firefly.

i like your song.

how you BEEN, kookinator?
theecarey - 08/26/07 22:56
I never hit a firefly in my life until recently. I was amazed at how their splattered bodies continue to glow across my windshield well after impact. gross and cool.

smash
Wow I still like this place (estrip). I mean I don't post much anymore but coming around here and reading everybody else's stuff kindof makes me happy.

If nothing else you are all interesting and dare I say even Good People.

Rochester sure has a lot of festivals and crap.
Buffalo did too, but its like Crotch is making up for lost festival time.
There was a lot of music festivalage going on at the beginning of the summer, and it was pretty sweet.
We saw Toots & the Maytals, among others.
I wish the beer was as cheep as it was at Thursday in the Square.
Boy, those white people sure love their beer eh?

And now its in the August round of the Park Ave/ East End festival.
Its a festivity where people celebrate knick-knacks, brickabrack, and anything that has seashells glued on, and also beer - which is what the white people are all about.

I live in the Park ave/ east end area in a lousy apartment that was hastily carved out of a nice little house.
My apartment doesn't actually fit in the house and juts half into the attic. The lease doesn't actually include the attic, but they should've bolted that shit down if they didn't want me making a fort up there.

Anyways, I hope this note finds you all in good sprits, and I look fondly towards see everyone again at some point. Also Mighty Taco.
