That being said, I hate big cities. We almost killed each other on Saturday night as we were all so frustrated with crowds and what to do, etc. It is unreal crowded and overpopulated in Toronto. I could never live like that. The whole time I kept asking myself what would make it worth it to live in such a polluted, overpopulated place with personal space invading chinese women.
I can't believe how okay asian woman were with touching and pushing me to try and get around/ in front of me. I am tall and you can't see, I don't fucking care - I waited two hours for this spot, and I really don't want you to touch me. They would just nudge and push and elbow and wiggle. One woman just kept putting her elbow in my side and pushing constantly so she could cut me and get upfront.
Apparently, the chinese have a hard time understanding lines.
To establish the norm of waiting in line in public places, the Beijing government annunced on Thursday that the 11th day of every month will be the official "wait-in-line day."
So back to the women, I just held my ground but eventually I was so sick of it I decided to up the battle. I ended up just turning towards woman so that in order to push wiggle around me, she would have to deal with my penis being all up on her - she was at about that height where it should have just freaked her the hell out. I thought, "This will definately stop her"
Nothing made this woman stop.
Finally, I was so sick of being pushed around that I elbowed her back in the side of the head and left the front row of watching the parade. It was mean but satisfying.
Living - They have like 7,000 of those new glass sky palaces they are trying to build all over Buffalo, it sees like everyone must live in a highrise.
Not having a camera with me was the most painful experience. I saw so much blogworthy stuff but none of it got recorded ;(
A land with most gay rights issues solved -
The focus of Gay Pride politics in Ontario now seems to be on transgender and adoptive rights.
Who am I to say what is acceptable or not but I am not in favor of tax payers paying for gender modification surgery. Then again I am not Canadian and we don't have socialized medicine.
Someone is going to blast me for this but it seems so unnecessary and that people should just learn to comfortable being what they are.
On one hand we, as gays, we fight so hard to get people to believe we should be able to be the way we are because we were born that way, but then transgendered people make being born a certain way a disposable, correctable situation.
Commercialism
I found this pic on Flickr when searching unde the tag "Toronto Pride 2007" I wanted to take a pic of it myself but I had no camera.
There was tons of commercial marketing. Look at how all the motorola boys looks the same. They are marketing the motorola red phone. They gave out tattoos so that other people could tattoo themselves with the motorola logo. At first I thought, who would do that, but a lot people did it. I a constantly amazed at people willingness to make themselves into advertising surfaces at no charge.
In terms of the brand name I think the reason that is excepted is because Motorola is one of the most established phone compinies like Sony When they came out with the walkman. but also the (red) means that a portion of the money spent on the phone went to a charity so then advertising that you gave is good and advertising them is good since they give a cut of that phone to charity Or at least in peoples minds. You notice on there commericals they don't say how much money they give per phone bought, that alone tells you that even though it adds up to a lot of money it must be a very small % of the phone price.
I'm not a transexual (yeah I have seen some really hot and really scary pictures on line of them) or a hermathodite so I can't say what it is like. But there are two things that I have heard. First and foremost that they feel they are in the wrong body. If that is true I can't imagine that. The other thing that I have heard is that it is a hormone thing. But one problem that I think hasn't been addressed is Society and its norms. People who are trangenders arent the wrong sex the are the wrong gender. That means that they do what society says a girl does or what society a boy does. For example a guy wants to wear dresses and makeup and play with dolls. so to me they are changing to fit into what society says a girl is or a boy is. Then they change there sex and organs to fit that. I think (could be wrong not an expert) that it is mostly boys who want to be girls. But if you think about it from a society point of view that makes sense because women can be masculine and fem at the same time. A girl can be a "tom boy" wrestle play sports and video games and allways wear pants and never a dress and no jewelry and not shave and wear no makeup and get away with it. But a boy with a dress and makeup will get his ass kicked and might even get raped and murdered. I will admit it does kinda bother me that someone would change who they are physicaly to fit how they feal they fit in to society. I know it shouldn't since that is often why people get Tattoos or other body modifications. What I have trouble understand is that Someone can be a boy who feals like they are a girl and like girls. I know sexuality, and gender are two seperate thing but sometimes My mind isn't allways sure about that.
In terms of Toronto I do admit I do like to visit there. One of the cool things is all the different cultures there and that there is a great mix of people. But I don't know as I could live there. It really is pretty big and sometimes how they talk can get on my nerves after some time. But the real factor is how expensive it is. In terms of the lady that sounds so crazy. I wonder if it was just her or if she could tell you waren't from Toronto. I guess getting up close was a pretty heavly wanted spot like at a concert here. In any event as long as you had a good time that is the main thing.
as much as it irritates me how much motorola is exploiting a great cause for personal gain (with shitty ass phones at that) i have to admit that those fellas look pretty neat all painted up like that...
label whores.
FWIW, I agree with you completely on the tax-funded gender modifications. Never should tax payers pay for that, any more than they should pay for tit surgery or dick surgery to make either more, ahem, plump.
I don't have too much against them, although I do think it is odd that someone swears up and down they are REALLY NOT A MAN (which sort of reinforces my belief in reincarnation). That being said, they can let their freak flag fly, and I don't care, and I hope they're happy, I just don't want to pay for that surgery either.
