where's the damn veritcal hold add-on?

jenks - 06/18/07 11:11
ok well it's not psychedelic for me in firefox, either- v. 2.0.0.4. But I don't use firefox that often, and thus haven't installed any add-ons or anything.
paul - 06/18/07 10:47
Twisted is using firefox on mac os x. So it would really have to be firefox to be a meaningful test.
jenks - 06/18/07 10:41
that test page to me just brings up a solid red box that says 'hello' in black text and that's it. nothing psychedelic. (this is safari 3b on OS 10.4.9)
paul - 06/18/07 08:59
It is definately a problem with CSS opacity not being displayed right on your computer as we discovered with this simple test page :::link::: with CSS opacity. Does anyone else see it all psychedelic?

NExt step would be to totally trash all traces of firefox, throw out the application folder, delete any prefs. Then go ahead and redownload it and try.

I would say to take it to the apple store but they are going to tell you they don't support firefox.

p.s. -- I disabled ALL my firefox add-ons but everything's still smutchfaced. Please don't make me uninstall all of them, sigh.

james - 06/18/07 08:50
They look like the eggs of some interdimentional being. But oh good lord is their taste outherworldly good!
ladycroft - 06/16/07 16:57

I've decided it's a feature, not a bug, haha.

twisted - 06/16/07 10:44
I thought of that too. But it would have to be pretty strong stuff to project my altered images onto those screenshots. ;-)

Thanks for your help Paul. I'll start disabling my Firefox add-ons to see which one is the culprit.

p.s. -- happy belated birthday J & J!

LSD comes to mind.
paul - 06/16/07 09:35
After some testing we discovered it is her computers way of handling CSS opacity. Does anyone know what could cause this. It doesn't happen to her in Safari and it doesn't happen on our mac in firefox.
jason - 06/16/07 03:35
I appreciate the humor in your user pic!
theecarey - 06/15/07 22:19
OOoOoOoOoOh pretty, haha!

firefix?
Category: firefox
Anybody else see this in Firefox/Mac?

I started seeing it as soon as I moved my Mac upstairs. Then I remembered one of the last things I did downstairs was reset my display settings for thousands of colors. Set it back to millions and now I get this (which I did start seeing downstairs but hoped it was a temporary glitch).

image

Ai yi yi. Guess I'll be using Safari. Which already crashed once on me this morning. Time to try Safari 3 beta.

Ok, time to get back to taking screenshots for my interview at 1pm. Between comcast taking 24 hours to get my internet hooked up, and the guys who helped move my sleep sofa a computer desk upstairs not showing up until 9:30pm last night, I'm a little behind. And somehow I don't think these firefox screenshots are going to help me get a job. ;-)

paul - 06/15/07 07:58
Maybe your graphics card is dying. Maybe that was your problem all along.
twisted - 06/14/07 19:53
It's a weird shift in the color-space continuum for sure. Last time I saw something like this was back in the '90s when I was testing the Station Pass during development of station.sony.com, and discovered under certain fairly common conditions, the color palette set by the java applet in the Station Pass popup window would completely usurp the color palette in the main window. I mean, pixels that had been green suddenly turned yellow, etc. It was freakadelic. That was back in the day of "unsafe" color palettes though. I don't know what's going on for me, except that my Firefox does not seem to like gradients any more. And I appear to be the only one with this problem. Great.
james - 06/14/07 14:17
I used this site in FF on my mac and never had that problem. But crazy, perhaps you have to pull out your nintendo cartridge and blow into it from the looks of things.
paul - 06/14/07 13:21
Holy crapiness. I have never seen anything like it.

A lawyer, a comedian and a male model...
Category: real estate
...all make offers to buy a unit in your building. Which one do you choose?

All of the above.

Ok, ok, he's just one guy. But he is a lawyer and a member of a local comedy troupe. He's not really a male model, but since he came directly to our initial meeting from trying a case in court, he was dressed to the nines and quickly gave credit to some sales guy at Nieman Marcus who has taken him under his fashion tutelage and thereby changed his look and his life. Closest thing to a male model I'll come to in this lifetime, haha.

The lawyer part came in handy when he wanted to move his stuff in early and my realtor advised me not to let him because I would be liable if anything happened to it since he didn't own the unit yet. He promptly wrote up a waiver for me. Although I was a little disappointed not to be referred to as the party of the second part, it sounded legal enough to me, so he moved his stuff in over the weekend. Maybe it's not so savvy to enter into a legal agreement wherein the party of the first part wrote it. But considering after next week we'll have irrevocably entwined our finances, seems only fair to advance him a little credit in the trust department. Even if he is a perfect stranger.

I would tell you about the improv bits he and his twin brother (also in the comedy troupe) pulled on me while moving his stuff in, but you really had to be there. Just what I need, a financial partner who can whip out a legal document as quickly as he can improv about not being able to make the down-payment after all since his grandmother miraculously recovered on her deathbed. ;-)

drew - 06/12/07 09:46
hey. I'm trying to get into the improv scene here. Can you give him my email (I have experience in other towns)

jenks - 06/12/07 08:35
but... so that means you sold it? congrats!
