A day in the countryside
Today I went to Alden to visit a friend of mine. It was so beautiful there. I miss the peacefulness of the countryside. His yard was amazing with all these beautiful birds that came to feed at the feeder. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera. Anyways, we drove around for a while and we came across someone selling things out of this shed that kind of looked like it could have been some old school house, except really tiny. She had some really nice things there, and her and her husband were so nice. It seemed like people were really nice out there, and laid back too. I always thought I was a city boy, but maybe I could live in the country. Here are some pics of my finds today. The first one is a ceramic ashtray made in Japan with a painted face. I love it! I think I'm going to plant some kind of herb in it so he can have green hair. It was only a dollar.

My next great find cost three dollars. It is a tapestry of JFK. It really is beautiful, the blue is so rich and it is made out of this velvety material. I wish I could drape myself with it!

What a great day! I'm sad that my friend is leaving for the summer. Another friend of mine is leaving for good to live in Phoenix. Good bye friends. I'll miss you.

hehe, LC.. my sentiments exactly. Kinda cool and frightening at the same time. I'd like to see it with some green "hair" and maybe a flower popping out of its head as well :)

Seems like you had a great day! I ordered up the sunshine as requested--ooh, gotta get some bike riding in real soon!

Downtown Violence
Last night I was at Club Marcella and there was a lock down. Nobody was allowed in or out as there was a shooting or something. It either happened upstairs in the old Tralf or right in front of my car that was parked in front of a meter on Pearl directly in front of the club. Police were everywhere, and everyone was smoking inside because they weren't allowed to leave. We eventually left, but my car was completely surrounded in police tape. There were two black garbage bags on the street next to my car and police guarding the area. I assumed the bags were covering up evidence of some sort. The police said it would be several hours before I could get my car from the "crime scene". There was definitely a bad feeling in the air last night, and I was afraid to go into the Club in the first place. Finally, at about 4:30am I was able to leave. Of course it wasn't that simple. We had to stand and gawk at more violence. This girl got slammed in the head by this guy. The guy takes off running and some girl chased him down to beat him. Then the cops came and slammed the girl that was beating the bitch slapper into a cop car. Downtown area at night is like a crazy circus complete with all the animals. That's right, savage animals...

  • Bitch Slapper* The girl that was hit by the guy may or may not have been a bitch, but I coined the term anyways. I know its not politically correct, but I like it.

Last night On Chanel 7 News thing got verry interesting did any one else see it? Basicly the Owner of (video went between him and the guy from the tralf so it could be out of context a little bit) Marcellos said "This dosn't have to do with race but I think this is the Wrong place for this it should be in the Ghetto". So I mean he was basicly saying he dosn't want blacks there and they should stay out and have there concerts in there hood, cause he dosn't want any of there problems. I find that kinda intersting cause I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't think he belongs downtown. I remember when it first openend they wanted to have all nude male stripers and they where told No, by I think the city. But to be honest nothing makes people move out of a nice Lofts and apartments quicker then crime or a killing. It may not be racial it may be a business thing from the guy from Marcellos in any event I wonder if there will be fallout from this and what will happen next if anything.

uncut,

Thank you for providing the news story. I couldn't find one at the time of the posting. I can't believe that happened in front of my car...makes you wonder. We all should remember that there are real dangers out there and use caution. I'm certainly glad that I didn't see that tragedy.
paul - 05/22/06 11:10
Holy crap, I hadn't noticed this journal until my RSS reader picked it up this morning. I am so glad I decided not to go out that night after all. Was it gang related violence? I mean who goes up and shoots someone in the face?
uncutsaniflush - 05/22/06 09:51
This is what happened I think:

May 21, 2006 - Buffalo police are investigating a fatal shooting, a stabbing and an attack on a police officer after a wild night in the downtown club district. Police say the shooting happened around 1 am near the intersection of Pearl and Chippewa. The victim, 21 year old Lamar Williams died at the scene. Williams was behind the wheel of a minivan, stopped in traffic on Pearl Street, when the gunman came up to the vehicle and shot him in the face. It's believed the victim was either heading to or coming from the Tralf nightclub less than a block away.

A short time earlier The Tralf was the scene of a ruckus after a larger than anticipated crowd showed up for a concert by Hip Hop performer Jim Jones. "There were probably about a thousand to fifteen hundred people waiting to get into the club that couldn't get in," said the Tralf's Rohit Kapoor. He added that some people tried to rush the doors which were locked; Our first priority was to keep everybody inside the club safe." As locked out patrons spilled out in to the street, police were called. A female officer was struck on the head. As police made an arrest in connection with assault on the officer, the man they had in custody began complaining of a pain in his side. Police soon found out why--he'd been stabbed. 36 year old Lamar Williams was taken to ECMC where he underwent surgery this morning. His condition was being characterized as Good.

Toxic Tourism
Passengers on Toxic Bus Tour
image

This was a true toxic bus tour taken here in Western New York. I wonder how long they were on the tour for at this point? They look kind of pasty and ill, but maybe they were indoors all winter.

To the left you will see one of the many brown fields plaguing the area. Notice the ooze leaking from that barrel over there

image

I'm almost ready for my own tour. Right now i'm in the process of listing toxic sites and mapping them out. After visiting Lewiston's nuclear waste repository/chemical waste treatment facility and feeling quite ill in the process, I don't believe its safe to visit these areas even for just a minute. Still I go....

Ok, lets do it! It definitely would help to have someone that knows the area well with me...I'm still learning. Still need to do more research though. Maybe we can capitalize on this toxic tourism? We will be the toxic tourism capital of the world!
paul - 05/21/06 14:50
Let's go together, maybe we could do an estrip tour de toxicity.
libertad - 05/21/06 14:46
(e:paul), that is crazy that you played in that dirt pile. Very scary! Do you think if you get that geiger counter it will start beeping when you touch it? Hope not. I think I want to go on the toxic tour...I need to find out about that toxic tour guide man.
paul - 05/20/06 22:35
I wrote about it a couple years ago. That whole area freaks me the hell out. North of Kenmore avenue is glowing green toxic. :::link:::

Look its the same bus driver.

The Danza Slap
image

Last night (e:mike) mentioned the Danza Slap...I can't remember why. Maybe it was a threat or something?

Of course I wanted to see a pic of the Danza Slap, but a google search left me empty handed. I did find his classic nude but nothing else. Then I read that he went under the name Tony Nadz, but again, no luck. Here is a link to some celebrity nudes including Tony. My fav I think is Luke Perry. Does anyone know which of these pics are fakes? Can Dillon really be so huge? If you are over 18, please go to the link. If not, pretend you are, and just go in anyways.

The next link gives definitions of the Danza Slap.

  • DISCLAIMER* Libertad does not condone minors viewing Tony Danza or Luke Perry naked.

If anyone has seen footage of a Danza Slap....send me the link!

Hmmm, I wonder?

Is this for real? Has he appeared in porn?

Who's the Boss?

I'm pretty sure I have fantasized about this man when I was younger

Yes (e:jason), this is not appealing.

metalpeter - 05/19/06 19:01
My Understanding is that the arnold one is real and is from a fitness magazine well some magizine not sure wich. One odd thing is that none of the guys are shaved or cut back low. I think they way the girl celeb sites work and maybe the guys is they have some legit photos, mostly from nude scenes in movies or maybe tabloids then have fake ones. That Makes it tough to tell that the fake ones are fake. Oh funny page about the Danza slap.
paul - 05/19/06 18:20
I think most of them are not real.
boxerboi - 05/19/06 18:19
hum. somehow in my fantasies they're bigger. :op
jason - 05/19/06 16:25
Ewwww....Kevin Bacon's "bacon" is in there. =P
paul - 05/19/06 15:54
You can post the pictures on your journal if you want. That way if they take them down from the website, they will still be here in your journal.

Adopt a Pig
There is a lonely guinea pig up for adoption at Elmwood Pet Supplies. Can someone please take him? He breaks my heart everytime I see him. I think his name is Chucky D? Tricolor and unusually friendly. There must be someone somewhere that wants him? I have never seen one crave so much attention.

On a side note, I wish that people would spend more time considering pets before they get them. Like dogs and cats, small animals are often neglected. Once the initial "oh your so cute" wears off they get sick of the constant care they require and get dumped at the local shelter. That is if they are lucky....others just "release" them into an environment they can't live in. I heard one story where this girl didn't want her guinea pig anymore and threw the cage with the pig in it into the trash. Disgusting!

leetee - 05/20/06 10:58
Damn... i thought you meant little kid.

Then that 30 year old needs lessons in empathy and cruelty...
jenks - 05/19/06 14:11
long story short(ish), some friends of mine in college had "extra" mice (snake food) that they got 'sick of', and they knew I'd worked in a lab with mice, so they asked me to kill them humanely since I know how, and I said no way. So they said "fine, we'll put them in the microwave." Nice, huh?
libertad - 05/19/06 13:38
leetee,

I use the term "girl" loosely, often I am speaking of adult women. She is almost 30 actually, but mentally she really is a child.
leetee - 05/19/06 12:11
I agree. Throwing a living creature into a trash bin is disgusting. That child needs lessons in empathy and cruelty....
