Friggin' X Men
Category: nerd
So after a really sweet day of walking everywhere I drove out to Clarence to the Regal to see the new X Men movie before my nerd assed friends could see it and ruin it for me. I didn't even know there was a midnight showing but I bumped into my buddy Chris
Schudio at Thursday at the Square. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was lack luster, but ((e:paul)) and I had fun drinking and people watching. Suspiciously, this clinically insane girl who's name I don't ever remember and who always flirts with me was there. The last few times she bumped into me she I was with ((e:paul)) it's like some kinda curse. She's kind cute but insane and she's always with the fugliest friend. I took her number again, but I might as well have written the star spangled banner in my phone because I'll never call her. I tried dating crazy before. It just doesn't work.

So my walking today proved quite fruitful in many ways as I also have a walking to work mobile phone architecture photo series to share with you peeps. I'll toss up that crazy girl's photo too as a public service. She flirts heavily and usually has a huge boyfriend so steer clear unless you think crazy sex is so much better than sane sex that you're willing to fight for it.

Steer clear! The madness you see here is surely just the tip of the iceberg. Far greater lunacy may lurk below the icy waters of this jpg's frame. Her expression tells me immediately that she is likely a big fan of BNL. (Thus explaining the fugly friend.) Such vomitously trite taste cannot be tolerated!

(She looks a tad bit mannish anyways. A bit like Jeff Bridges in "Starman".)

yeah, I tried crazy too, actually a couple variations of crazy and your right they just don't work. There always that point that they do something that makes ya go "ah oh" and who knows what else..
kookcity2000 - 05/26/06 00:08

Phoney Tony
Category: phone practice
Anyone who's ever hung out with (e:paul) in the flesh knows abot his unshakable obsession to his phone. He post losts from it, I think all his photos come from it, and if you've ever seen it you know how complex and intriguing it is. Well to nerds. Like me.

I resisted getting any new phone for a long while and made up in my mind that I wouldn't until one day almost a year ago while hanging out with a few peeps my really old nokia cricket phone took a bath in a dirty puddle. I knew a new phone was inevitable.

To make the phone story short, after a series of serendipitous deals I ended up with the same phone as (e:paul). His nerdy enthusiasm was infectious I guess.

I didn't know how much use I'd ever get out of something like this, and I'm almost ashamed to say I'm quite possibly more obsesed with it than (e:paul) is.

I went picture taking with some friends over the weekend and I didn't have a sweet camera, but I had my phone, and I came back with a thing or two worth seeing. I was at that Robert Creeley thing at Hallwalls too, and instead of succumbing to bored um I posted to (e:strip). Heck, I'm at work and stuck in locked out login land and I'm posting again.

Theres so much more that this phone can do (and has
done). I plan on writing a program for just about anything that I do frequently and a few that will push the margins of fun and/or utility. I crackle with anticipation.

here's some of the pics I took over the weekend. The first one is my friends son. We all get together to nerd it up every once and a while an his son slips further into nerddom every day. Here's the proof (yes he's wearing a Thing costume, no its not Halloween...its Sunday):

Robert Creeley
Category: unnerd
Here's my first mobile journal. I'm in the church of Ani di Franco at that Bob Creeley farewell. Turn's out Mr. Creeley has a son who's friends with my friends, and the sanctuary of the church is quite pretty. You get photos with this one since the phone's so crazy. check it:

You can increase you photo size, they will auto resize. I think they are 320x240. You get good resolution/size at 640x480. Glad to see someone else doing mobile posts!!!

Fake Plastic Trees

I woke up early on Saturday to get "in line" online for tickets to a radiohead show that's coming to Toronto that very few people even knew about. Radiohead is seriously my favorite band ever and I'd sell my first born to see em before I died, ok maybe not my 1st but maybe someone elses baby.

My buddy Andy Blake has the inside scoop on stuff like this so we (Andy, his ex-gf jenny, and I) went down to UB to use their network cause Andy thought it'd be quicker and we'd have a snowballs chance to get tickets before they sold out on us.

The controls for getting the tickets weren't on the page when we got there and we had to wait until 10:00 am EST before they'd appear. We had to keep reloading the page to get the tickets, but the page would lock you out if you hit refresh to many times (more than 6x a minute), so it was going to be a mad dash at 10 on the button to get seats at all.

10:00 and 0 seconds am EST rolled around and I was frantic. I smashed F5 (a reload page short cut in both Firefox and IE) and I was rushing to fill out my info for the tickets. By 10:00 30 seconds am EST the show was sold out, and I didn't get any tickets, but Jenny and Andy did.

Yes... I was sad.

But it wasn't 10:00 am in Chicago yet so I decided to try for tickets there, so we waited an hour.

I really wanted to go to the Toronto show, but I have a buddy or two in Chi-town it might be fun. All 3 of us tried for tickets again and Jenny was the only one to get in. Luckily. I bought the tickets and we all went out to eat some grub at Pano's to celebrate

(I guess (e:jenks) saw me but was hanging w/ her parents so she decided not to complicate things)

I bought tickets but didn't have anyone definite to go with since going to Chi-town is a bit more of an endeavor than going to Toronto. I had a friend named Ben who wanted to go with me, but he just got a new job but had to take a pay cut for the better hours and is getting married so I didn't know if he could afford a concert ticket and a plane ticket. In my fit of excitement and desire to have a music fan go with me I called my ex-gf like an idiot to see if she wanted to go.

Not to hang all my dirty laundry around town, but she owes me quite a bit of money, but I didn't care as long as she could pay her own way. She said yeah, and I told her it was first come first serve with who ever wanted to go, could afford it and confirmed, and luckily Ben came through.

My ex-gf has been more nice to me than she has been since we first started dating and it's either going to be awful or really sweet to tell her that Ben's going in her stead. I haven't told her yet, but I think I should/will by Monday. I just confirmed that my Chi-town buddy Neil can put us up for the night and we're going to get there a day early and cruise the town so um...yeah I need to call her and tell her something.

I'm taking bets on weather the niceness dries up quick after I tell her she's not going with, but che sera sera. I didn't break up with her so that she'd be nice to me...though it would be nice, since I think I treated her really well.

oh gawd it's late...
twisted - 05/20/06 11:34
So three of us tried to buy tix at the stroke of 10:00:00 Sunday and I'm the only one who came away with 2 tickets (the maximum allowed per transaction). Two nights sold out in approximately 5 seconds. It's un-freakin-believable! I'm letting Larry and Mark take the tix since they're the diehard Radiohead fans.
twisted - 05/08/06 11:33
Ordering tickets online is a scam! We're standing by to get Radiohead tix for June 23 & 24 at the Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley. But I guess you've already had your fill of Cali. ;-)

One friend said some tickets were already released on :::link::: but sold out. I have no idea how that thing works. I'm totally indebted to my friends in the know, as I have no first-born to barter with either, haha. I just do as I'm told when the time comes. Wish me luck, and enjoy the show in Chicago!
