jobs jobs jobs and the electronic wall
It is a tiresom task. Most want ads don't want phone calls, so it is difficult to even follow up on your application.
I feel I can only send so many emails. I guess the whole idea is to save time for the recruiter. It saddens me to think about how difficult it is to network and meet people because of the electronic "wall" that has been created.
Have any of you (e:strip) peeps seen my resumé out "there?" I feel as though I have sent it to half the country. I will never abandon all hope, it just seems circular at times.
get paper...
circle ads...
send resumé...
follow up (maybe)....
get paper...

animalé
The Pittsburgh Zoo is larger than the Buffalo zoo, and it has more animals, but the variety of animals is the same. The Buffalo Zoo has probably a greater variety, because the PPG Zoo doesn't have a lot of smaller animals.
I took as many pictures as I could, but my camera battery died. Guess that is just an excuse to go back again soon!!
Does anyone have any pointers for taking pictures of monkeys behind glass??
You would think they would use an invisible forcefield instead. It is probably a lot more expensive though.
OK, here they are....
The elephant and the orangutan are my favorite shots.
Thanks for putting up with my amateur photos!

A mixed day!
First...the BAD...
Sadly, my G4 mac desktop died yesterday. It was old (400Mhz), but It was my first. All you mac users out there know what I am talking about. Luckily, It died after I finished backing up the hard drive. It was the hard drive that went. If I try to install Tiger, it doesn't see the drive as an available drive, and disc utility tells me there is a hardware error. I may fix it, or I just might let it go. It was my main internet and downloading /itunes computer. I'm not sure if I want bto use my pc for all that, seeing there are many virus and all...(what is the plural of virus???)
The good...
I am posting this from my new office! I am finally conected again.!!
Here is my new office.
I may get a harddrive and install linux on my older G4. Is there any issues with hardware I should know about? I will research that today.

at the café again
Just thought I'd add to Metalpeter's thought . Sony has a ying yang like sign on there cell phones.
And Ladycroft, I would take you up on your tomato offer, but I don't think you want to drive to PA. Thanks anyway.
The one thing I miss about buffalo, is the roadways and driving. People in the Pittsburgh PA area drive like insane people. Nobody drive less than 15 over the speed limit. I almost died yesterday because someone cut me off at 70 in a 50mph work zone. And the roads are confusing down here. Road names take right turns at intersections, and there are 4 different Washington's within 5 miles of each other.

from the free Carnegie library
Anybody have any thoughts?
It would be so nice if there was a free open wireless network everywhere!
Yes, some jobs would be lost, but there will always be a need for support and help desk people.

my first post from Carnegie PA
I am posting this entry from a café with free wi-fi. At least I can drive 5 minutes away and get access. It is very weird to not be "connected"! This is the first time in 6 years I haven't had access.
Well, I got to go, I have to contact the school and do some more unpacking.
Pictures coming soon!

World of Warcraft Community!!
This character then asked again, and told me that he/she was the child of a different character I had met a day or two earlier. So, I convinced my current group to help this poor loner out. In the end, we all completed our quests and everyone was happy!
Later on that evening, the father of the kid I just helped, logged online just to thank me for helping his kid. How cool is that.
I just thought this was a great example of what (e:strip) is all about. Building a community to help counteract the effects of the computer in todays society.
m(••)m
on a less philosophical note,
My character in WoW is
Llolth
I am on the Skywall server.
send me a message if you want to team up, it would be cool to meet an estrip'r on the online world.

looking for work and WoW
Do any of you (e:strip)'rs have ideas of where I can start looking in Pittsburgh, Pa. In reality, I am just looking for someplace to start networking.
I haven't tried to publish from my phone as of yet, but I plan on trying to do so in the next few days. Paul, I will let you know if there seem to be any bugs.
Lastly, here is a screenshot of my character in World of Warcraft.

Poultrygeist and World of Warcraft
I have been playing World of Warcraft lately, that game is so addictive.
Are any (e:strip)'rs currently playing World of Warcraft???
If so, maybe we can have a virtual meeting. Let me know what server you are on and your character's name, and I will send ytou m y info!
Sorry, this post is just my random thoughts at the time....
I have a new computer at work, and I decided that the new mac keyboards are harder to type on than the older black, G4 keyboards. I don't like the angle:(
Back to moving,
I am going to miss Buffalo and the friends I have here, but it is time to move. AIP here I come. I plan on posting often, to give you buffalonians a taste of Pittsburgh!
