moz://a
twisted - 10/24/2023 10:05AM
Hey e:peeps. The seemingly simple job application field "website" brought me back here – the closest thing to the 'story of my life' still accessible on the web. I started compiling this particular time capsule to supplement my cover letter for Content Strategist at Mozilla, until I noticed they are no longer accepting applications. A day late and a dollar short again! Since both "website" and "cover letter" were optional, I should have gone ahead and applied last week. At least now I'll have a head start for next time.

Blast from the Past
twisted - 12/20/2019 11:55AM
Hey e:peeps, remember me? I was unsuccessfully trying to fix an inlink that doesn't link and figured I better blog about it. Maybe I'm using an outdated theme that doesn't support inlink formatting updates? Or maybe I'm supposed to update my inlinks and don't know how? I can't figure out how to change my theme either, which just goes to show how longs it's been and/or how old I've gotten. I'm also getting some weird errors, so maybe I'm on double-secret probation for being gone so long. Please forgive me! Here is an inlink twisted,36584 to the blog with the inlink issue. And an external link formatted with the link tool: And one just typed in raw: https://estrip.org/articles/read/twisted/36584?show_comments=1&article_id=undefined The external link's article_id parameter is "undefined" so maybe that's a clue? Mentioning e:paul, e:joe, and e:admin. I hope you guys don't get notified every time I update this post, since I've been using it as a test. UPDATE: I figured out ho

Native Guide
twisted - 06/28/2012 9:32PM
I'm officially seeking collaborators for SF Native Guide (aka estripwest v2, haha). Seriously, I miss Alamedalink, and blogging platforms have come such a long way, even I can build a site now (almost). So I'm giving it a shot over my sabbatical. What do you think? It's about time I got back to the master plan.

Happy Birthday Paul!
twisted - 01/22/2009 10:53PM
Wow, it's been so long! Since I didn't get you a gift, here's an update. For starters, my tenant gave notice and moved out last November. This was great news, but bad timing. It would have been crazy not to take advantage of the vacancy to pull out the wall-to-wall carpeting and refinish the floors, replace the kitchen cabinets, and tile the bathroom floor. Only bad part is, I'm still deep in debt from my own renovation, and I already had plans to go "home" for Christmas before I knew about this. So naturally when the IKEA kitchen cabinet order turned out to lack certain key items the day before I flew east, it was hard to take care of everything before I left. But not taking care of it would have been worse, since the longer I'm paying for that unit without any income from it, the harder it is to pay off my old and new debts. Anyway, I'm so sick of all this renovating now. It's like a second job, that apparently I'm not so good at. The scariest part was yesterday, when my con

Best of Halloween Video
twisted - 10/25/2008 4:18PM
My friend Steve sent me a DVD with highlights from his past Halloween parties. I figured I'd do my part toward making 25,000 journals by posting it here. You might recognize some of these shots from e:Twisted,36393 Ghost of Halloween Past post. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xWithg4os_g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xWithg4os_g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Have a great Halloween, everyone!

Google Dance
twisted - 08/18/2008 10:44PM
I will FINALLY get to verify a bit of Google-lure first-hand. Namely, heated toilet seats http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/03/05/DDGFOOEF4C1.DTL at Googleplex world headquarters. You can bet your bottom-dollar my tushy will be the judge! I really didn't do anything to deserve this honor, other than register as a platinum (whatever that means) attendee to the Search Engine Strategies conference. Mostly I'm having major flashbacks to the last time I was in San Jose to drop e:Paul off at his conference. Not much has changed since then, I'm sorry to say. I wish e:Paul and e:Iriesara could join me this time!

Catching up with the boys
twisted - 07/06/2008 11:49PM
If a picture is worth 1000 words, and a blog is approximately 1638 words, then this entry = 9.7 blogs. I have approximately 3 dozen spots for cats. But suddenly Oscar believes the only place for him is exactly wherever Filippe is. I finally pulled out my sewing machine. The cats really like to be helpful with creative projects. Rare photos of all three cats together: Oscar in a box and on a pup: ps -- Looks like the rent arrived...

MapJack
twisted - 06/03/2008 11:01PM
You too can take a virtual ride down http://www.mapjack.com/?3mEnW2f5bFiB Lombard Street (or anywhere in SF and beyond)! Nice drive-by shot of http://www.mapjack.com/?Pc7mWeY5bFyA City Hall. I wonder if I could recreate my bike ride to work every day? It's extra cool right now with all the rainbow flags flanking Market Street. They captured http://www.mapjack.com/?Bh6mWM82bFVC my house the day the sidewalk was being repaired (April 12, 2007). I didn't get to see it in person because I was in Italy, right after e:Paul, e:Matthew and e:Hodown visited. Hey Paul & Matt, maybe you can recreate your walk through Golden Gate Park to the Pacific Ocean. Who knows, you might even show up in some shots if they were grabbing images then. Plus, it's easier on the legs, haha. ps--Too bad I left my car in Alameda while I was gone or my estrip bumper sticker could've been captured in a digital time capsule!

Another Day, Another Protest
twisted - 04/09/2008 11:14PM
Weird day. Much to say about it! Here are some pix. I was glad to see my regular parking spot was available, considering all the hoopla! View from my office of the plaza where the torch was supposed to end up. Crowd at the ferry terminal clock tower. Close-up of protesters. They don't look that scary! Yeah, I did get to see the torch. On streaming video. ps--I did tell you all about the cats right? They're still here . . .
