LifeMike and I had to move cause our lords wanted us out to make the house into a single family home and I never found a house to buy. Now we are both unhappy and separate and having major adjustment issues. Things could be worse and they are.
It's so much easier when you have really awesome friends and family. We need you so much more than you know. I'm sorry for not being as good a friend as you all are to me. I love you all, we love you all!

I don't know all I can say is 2 things
-I've seen ads on US TV for them so that could have something to do with it
-Is it possible that they got the names from the Buddhist group you are part of (I don't know much about it if it is Korean but maybe they think you would want to go to Korea)

Try not to be discouraged. People find their dreamhomes in even the toughest of markets. It's all about being in the right place at the right time, and you have to stay in the market to make that happen. Things usually work out the way they do for a reason, so don't worry too much when the one you think you want gets away. (I guess that applies to not only house hunting, but in dating too.) Sometimes there are things wrong with houses (and men) that are not apparent on the surface, and not getting what you think you want could be the best thing that ever happened to you.

@exbuf, you have no idea, it's insane, I feel so discouraged. Property values are skyrocketing everywhere on the West Side. Last year I probably could have gotten it for $45k based on sales of similar homes in the area. Actually there is going to be a story about the current housing market in the Buffalo News very soon and I will be quoted in it. This house does look like a wreck but it actually had a lot of charm and it had one of the best foundations I have ever seen. I'm contemplating dropping out of the market and waiting to see if it balances out.

In fact, it had original hardwood floors, pocket doors, leaded glass windows, and amazing original woodwork. All that for only $74K. I still miss that house. My new house in Baltimore set me back five times that, literally, and has just a fraction of the charm and none of the history.

Mike, how would you know if you can't stand it or not unless you try it. I say just do it for 1 minute and replicate 100x times at least. Record how many times you felt gross, how many times you felt okay and how many times you felt completely disgusted. Now repeat the experimental setup for 3 minutes, 5 minutes and fall back to 2 minutes. In the last experiment record feelings of loss (like how much of a loss you felt now that you could only put it out 2 min and not 5 min on a scale of -10 through 10. -10 would mean: "It was not a loss. It was a gain, dummy."(I am pretty sure that would be a 10 for me, for sure but you have to be honest. I am not influencing your answer here.)
And oh, and just record everything on a CSV file and email it to me. I will do some pretty graphs and assess your true feelings of contentment or discontent ... and maybe publish it in PNAS. Don't worry about attribution. I promise to acknowledge you and David in gushing words.
The fact that you posted this makes me never want to let you do that again! it is so gross! I don't know why but I 100% cannot stand when people put their feet out of car windows
