Father's day part eins
Category: family
For father's day, I spent the first half up at Paul's parents house, also for Tony's birthday. It was an early dinner, so I got to eat amazing food, like the marinated artichokes, dandelion cakes, cheese potatoes, amd vegetables.

Afterwards I helped (e:paul) and (e:terry) remortar the chimney for a bit. So much of it crumbled away - Paul actually completely pulled out a brick entirely at one point. It wasn't the cleanest job but hopefully it'll hold up for a while.

For future reference, Quickrete mix used as mortar takes approximately a 4:1 ratio of water:mortar mix.

Busted up fence
Category: buffalo
Franklin Street for the most part is the ass-end of buildings on Main Street and Delaware. But the west side of the 500 block is especially bad with unmaintained parking lots spilling out onto the sidewalk. This fence for lot at 603 Delaware is so messed up. It's the jankiest on a block of already terrible looking lots. Why even bother with a fence at this point? Who are you stopping from entering when it's only partially there?

The county GIS system says the property is owned by DANFB LLC, which according to this Buffalo Rising article is a subsidiary of Benderson (blech), or possibly just Alliance Advisory Group right now. I want to find out who so I can write them.

Nothing drives me crazier than fences and parking lots.

I also hate this fence. It seems unbelievable that any business would keep this up. Between them and the abandoned house across the street that tore up their lawn, and the parking lot next to it, it looks totally ghetto.

I hope something changes. When the city put up signs saying the abandoned house had to restore their lawn after asphalting it, the owner simply plywood boarded up over the signs. I want to know who owns it.

Heidi's birthday
Category: birthdays
After the art festival, we celebrated (e:heidi)'s birthday belatedly and a visit by her friends at our house.

It ended up being a pretty good night. I ate too much bean dip. (e:paul) and I put some whipped cream and blueberries and shortbread cookies - it was delicious.

Co-op sells beer
Category: beer
The coop sells beer now. You think it would be bougerificly expensive but it wsa $8.99 for a 6 pack of Southern Tier and $16.99 for a 12 pack, which is in line (or maybe cheaper) than Elmwood Market. If you ask me though, a keg of Flower Power would probably come at a bulk rate and be the most cost effective option for our household.

Maybe just a pipeline from Ithaca would be better.

I love you, (e:Joe)! A keg of FP would be perfect. Why do we bother with all those silly bottles?

Allentown Art Festival
Category: buffalo

Maybe I would like it I'd it if I were a middle aged suburban woman. A lot of the stuff is the trinkets about wine and their dogs I feel like old people just fill their houses with.

It wasn't too hot though, and I got to walk around with (e:Paul). The people watching was interesting too - it's the intersection of a lot of different groups of people in one place.

The little kids legs in jeans flower pots were insane. Who wants that?
