The Allentown Art Festival
Category: art
What is up with the increased drama between the two festivals? These signs located at elmwood and allen, way after the allen town art festival but just before you reach the allentown west festival are so douchey and just make me hate the Allentown Art Festival.

To be fair I was only there on a hunt for fried artichokes hearts, which I never found. We literally ran the entirety of both festivals on the quest for them. I hope I didn't miss it

Not sure.... I didn't see those yesterday but saw one today on the other side it said welcome.... I think Allentown has never liked that festival... If you think about it they are so different bars and if you own a place you are allowed to sell in front of it where as with the art festival you have no right to that space......

Liberty Hound At Buffalo Inner Harbor
Category: food
I headed out to the inner harbor for lunch with my mother after (e:Matthew)'s graduation. The food was totally amazing. Its a great seafood restaurant owned by the same people that run Blue Monk on elmwood.

The food is primarily seafood but they have some other fare including burgers and steak. Today they also had some pulled pork on special.

Being the seafood lovers that we are, we went for the ciopino. It was amazing. Mussels, clams, calamari, shrimp and cod.

The inside of the place looks nice and sits right inside the museum by the canal but we sat outside on the patio to enjoy the weather.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the parmesaen truffle fries we got for an appetizer but I was to busy eating it!

They open for service at 11am and the kitchen is open till 10pm. I say check it out if you haven't yet.

The chemical smell in the water
Category: water
It has been back again for a bit. I seriously cannot stand it. I won't even wash my salad with it anymore because the salad ends up smelling too.

I want to know what causes it. Its smells sort of like permanent marker. Its not my house either, I smell it in other places. Its almost like it replaced the fishy smell of zebra muscle that used to be in the water.

Is it possible that it is some sort of thing to kill them off. Last time I wrote about it in 2008 (e:paul,44701), (e:matthew) linked to a buffalo news article but the link is gone and I cannot remember what it was. Thats probably a side effect of the chemical itself, lol.
paul - 10/31/16 10:20
It happening again and it happend again two weeks ago. It's not chlorine gas because I let the water sit in a jar overnight and it's still very intense.
metalpeter - 06/09/12 09:48
Scent is a funny thing.... People adjust to things... I would think that people with with allergies would be more prone to smelling more things.... There is no real reason for that thought other then it seems to make sense.... I guess the best example I have is many people can't tell one others have been smoking but most ex-smokers pick up that scent from a mile away not a real mile but you know what I mean.....
paul - 06/08/12 23:18
Are you saying I have a big nose? Because I do lol and when its not allergic I am hyper sensitive to smell.

We do have a water filtration system but I have to replace the filter this weekend.

Someone told me it happens during the time of year when they replace the chloramine with plain old chlorine when the lake "turns over." Not sure what that really means though.
metalpeter - 06/08/12 16:44
-I love the smell of markers or maybe just how the smell makes me feel...Ha
-But from water um no...
-I wonder if you are hyper sensitive to smell in other words other people wouldn't notice it...
- I think you are onto something about it being to kill off stuff that is bad for you
- Where I'm a bit confused and maybe it is just my bad memory or maybe I'm think of a blog from the past... But I thought you guys had an entire water filtration system in your house and then on the sink as well....

-In terms of the Buffalo news.... Think they still have the article it is just in the archives and that is a pay service so......

Being sick sucks
Category: body
I can't believe that I have a cold right now. I think its the combination of allergies and then cold weather plus air conditioning that made me sick. Its one of those stupid painful sore throats where it hurts to talk. Hopefully this spicy veggie soup helps and it goes away soon.

Wish I understood this... I really have to look into getting a decent phone on a decent plan that doesn't break the bank.... Now I'm not up on Tech but I thought I heard something on the radio that there is some apple tech show... and there are rumors of some new thing... The Main thing is that it works well for you...
matthew - 06/11/12 12:06
Wow, apparently when they operated on my brain they unleashed some hidden knowledge of cell phones I never even knew I had. I don't even remember writing that last comment! LOL :)
matthew - 06/11/12 01:13
If you want the smaller size I would hold off for the Gallaxy sIII. It should be out within the next few weeks unless apple succeeds in getting an emergency injunction.
uncutsaniflush - 06/10/12 22:08
I need a new phone. We won't mention how old and stupid my old phone is. I'm debating between the Galaxy Note and the S II skyrocket. I love the display of the Note but I'm worried that the phone itself is too big for my pockets on a practical level.
paul - 06/10/12 13:17
Ya the phone fits comfortably in all my pants pockets. Voice calls work great too. It is all around the best phone I have ever used. Especially with the ice cream sandwich upgrade.
uncutsaniflush - 06/09/12 22:54
It all looks cool. Do you use it for voice calls? If you do, how is it? And does it fit in your front pants pocket?
