LG Thrill 4G
Category: mobile
OMG I want the LG Thrill 4g 3d phone. Unforunatelyvtge pics are only 3d on its screen.

Here are the stereoscopic images. The lg thrill screen interprets them for you into one coherent image - which is the magic part. You could however print them out and use them a stereoscopic viewer like they did in the old days Or you can just download the full size images, make them full screen, and cross your eyes. The illusionary 3d image that appears in the middle is a close approximation to what you see on a 3d screen but without eyes crossing.

I guess I can't cross my eyes effectively because if I cross them all I can see is 3 blurry images and its making my head hurt. I will just wait for you get the phone. heh.
mrmike - 09/30/11 06:52
I'm liking the phone, but haven't used that feature too much. All the extra bells and whistles from android and the fact that it does phone functions great (crazy, right) made this a giant leap forward from my iphone 3
paul - 09/30/11 00:02
This is so fucking crazy. So for years I never saw those magic illusion pic books right. I always see the 3d part in reverse. It was the same with these pictures when doing the cross eyes viewing. Then I read people that have this issue can try reversing the left and right photo. So I switched them in gimp and now I see the correct. What is wrong with me that causes that?
paul - 09/29/11 23:48
I attached the actual 3d images, although the lack of 3d screen makes it much lamer. You can load them full screen and view cross eyes for a close approximation.
tinypliny - 09/29/11 23:15
You know, your arms actually do look kind of out of the picture and abnormally in focus for a regular photo.
tinypliny - 09/29/11 23:15
Now that peter's pointed out stuff about those photos, they are starting to look out of the ordinary. The power of suggestion!
metalpeter - 09/29/11 19:58
Well they sure look like they are.... It would be interesting to compare them....
paul - 09/29/11 19:55
Sorry for the confusion. These pictures are not 3d. You need a 3d viewer such as the screen in the LG thrill.
metalpeter - 09/29/11 19:48
Yeah but this is only people Imagine how um well you know how other things would look as well...HA... When I was a kid what 3D meant was that things looked like they where coming at you... Or like out of the screen. Or in some cases to me it is more like the 3D stuff is ahead of everything else.... Again though I don't know as I get the full view.... Now filming things in a way you can feel the movement is something different... There was the movie called Coming to America yes the Arsenio Hall and Eddie Murphy Movie and at beginning they way the film the plane you can feel it move... I get this feeling of camera movement on the 3D glee movie and sometimes get it on football... Hard to explain though...
tinypliny - 09/29/11 19:34
I see what you mean. If that is the case, I can safely not repent having missed the effect of people's appendages pasted on top their regular pictures.

:)
metalpeter - 09/29/11 18:24
But paul and (e:terry)'s hand both look like they are coming right at me....

I thought what 3D was and it is bit confusing... Is in 2D Images and I guess video as well is flat. You have what would be considered back ground and foreground... Now with a Traditional camera when you focus you can pick where you focus and that some how effects how the picture looks. As an example some one is in front of city hall well you can focus so they are blurry and city hall is crisp or vice versa... This I would say can be used when you want to see the scenery ....

Now this is where I get lost. with 2d you see those things kinda as one thing. But 3d has another layer.... Look at (e:Terry) behind is the window and sky and bench and a building that is the back ground. But in front of terry is the peace sign. He is the foreground but his fingers and hand are a head of the foreground so they look like they are coming out of the picture... Or at least to me.....

Now in terms of a screen what 3D is supposed to do is take the picture into 3 layers and kinda over lay them.... It kinda looks like this picture was taken and Terry is on top of it....

But see everyone's eyes work a bit differently....

Maybe some of the pro level picture takers could explain this better cause it is a bit past me I was just saying how I understand it....
tinypliny - 09/29/11 14:47
What is 3D anyway? Pictures already have depth. Does it combine several pictures to give you a video? How then is it any different from just video? I guess I don't get this.
paul - 09/29/11 13:23
I am so torn now. I wanted to wait on the nexus prime or Samsung gallaxy sii but will I end up missing a whole years worth of 3d.
mrmike - 09/28/11 20:58
I got it last night, target had a good deal that reeled me in from the Iphone cold
tinypliny - 09/28/11 19:32
hahaha, nice pics. Who needs 3d when you can convey 6D on 2D.

The browser is not half as bad as I expected. I also don't mind the typing. Not that I see myself purchasing one.

Eat Right. Be Active. Have Fun.
Category: government spending
Why does this message require either government spending on Disney or free advertisment for Disney. It makes me sick. Why not a generic exercise scene or some delicious looking healthy food?

Do most people even realize this is not just a Disney advertisment?

This is a public service annoucement (PSA) :::link::: . This PSA was created for the Let's Move campaign :::link::: for the Ad Council :::link::: :::link:::

My assumption is that both Lamar the owner of billboard and Disney donated their services to the Ad Council.
metalpeter - 09/28/11 17:00
-be our guest is part is a famous part of the Disney ads....For the theme park
-Dancing is a good way to be active and a candle that would normally would just stand there that moves and yes its fire moves also is a great example of getting people moving....

-Now I know nothing about the ads but I think it is aimed to get kids to move. Yeah you can watch the DVD you bought but ok now also go play.... This is how the play movement is currently. You sit down and do nothing all day as you watch football but you will see ads about the youth going out and playing and Nike has one also..... Back to the ads I don't know if they have other characters on other ads that appeal to kids but they could...
tinypliny - 09/28/11 07:23
Hmm... a few questions come to mind. Is disney funding the letsmove campaign? It could be. So I won't be sure this is completely government money.

Who are the targets of this campaign? Most ostensibly, children. There are more obese children in the US than anywhere else on the planet (well.. maybe UK comes close) and it's likely to get worse in the next few years. But do these target children care about disney anymore? It seems a bit out of sync with what the target age kids really might be into these days.

Perhaps music icons or sports icons could have been a more attention-getting choice. By putting disney on, does the ad imply that it's perhaps an old-fashioned but fun way to live? That cannot altogether altogether appeal to kids who tend to not like anything old fashioned.

So I don't know. On the positive side, the font and colour are well done. I scarcely saw the disney characers before you pointed them out. The only thing REALLY prominent on that board is the message - which is good.

Bikeride to the outer harbor
Category: biking
The other day we took a family bikeride over to the outer harbor. The weather was so amazing. We saw the new empty business park where they already have a bikerack and toured to defunct new casino. I winder if the building will rust through before it is ever used? Leave it ti Buffalo to dilapidate a building before occupation.

We traveled up to the old water authority building. Someone left a bunch of nude playing cards all over the ground at the front steps. What a weird find.

I think those beams should be left there as a reminder to what happens when you "Half Step" or don't go all in or go Half assed...

-Now The Senecas claim bad economy so we stopped
-At the Time they where going to lose the lawsuit because even though it is their land it was bought for a casino and legally it has to be your land but those are two different kinds of lands
- Buffalo broke some law so or so claimed people who don't want the casino
-You can battle on if you think it would be good or not to have one...
-Now did the state think well we let them build this and get taxes then we get tax on reservation stuff.

All of this could have been stopped years ago By Legalizing Gambling. Now some say well there is this mob in the Falls you know those union guys... But also heard Trump payed people off so he would be safe... Now Back then they would have had Casinos before The Falls Canada you would get all the taxes. The Indians wouldn't have all this bargin with us crap ... And all the wasted time and money legal battles wouldn't go down ....

So leave it there as a reminder that this is what happens when people play politics instead of just doing what is right.....

Where cars go to die

I know every city has these but damn this is an eyesore on the way out to the outer harbour by bike. Maybe once the Chicago Street bridge is completed in 2050 I wont have to see it anymore.
