Humbolt Fog and Summer Crops
Category: food
I love summer so much. The food choices are already awesome. I have cherries, strawberries, peas in a pod, corn on the cob, watermelon and even lychees.

I am also so obssessed with this Humbolt fog chevre.

Lichis? Where?!
paul - 06/08/11 21:07
No one noticed the lychees

Its only blue on the very outside. The inside is creamy goats cheese and the black line you see through it is a central line of edible ash that they pull though it while it is forming. :::link::: It does not taste "rotted" like blue cheese, it tastes more like creamy goat cheese.

Is it like bleu cheese and has mould in it?

Pride Parade Quote On Buffalo Rising
Category: web
I was reading the comments about the pride parade announcement on Buffalo Rising As always there was a bunch of bickering but I found this one comment/response hilarious.

EllicotNick: - Anyone know when the straight parade is occurring?
paintedpost: - It's held each Saturday night on Chippewa.

That is great...... I'm not saying to do it but it would be interesting if you include pansexual (if it means what I think it means), bisexual, gay and straight status of everyone in the parade and then do a percentage or sometimes with small numbers percentages can miss lead but a comparison .... Yes there are a lot of people who are gay in the Parade but with groups like churches and banks I think there are more non gays then people think.....

Welcome to Buffalo...

... where the evergreens go to die.

This is really the view when you get off the train at the habor. It would be better to just cut them down.

Fedora 15 - monitor rotation - Dell m4500
Category: linux
This is so great. I haven't had a one horizontally rotated monitor with one vertically rotated monitor setup since I left the mac platform, more than a year ago. The problem was I was always using the stupid closed source nvidia drivers because the open source nouveau drivers were not ready.

Apparently there is some complicated way of trying to get this to work ith the nvidia drivers andd xinerama but it never worked for me.

Well, this has all changed since fedora 15. All of the hardware acceleration I need is in the nourveau drivers. It runs the desktop great.

Monitor suport is so easy with these drivers. Simply plug the monitor in and it works - no configuration necessary. If you want to rotate one monitor, open system-settings->displays and select the rotation desired.

It works great and you can touch either monitor's top left corner to bring up activities mode in Gnome 3. I still prefer the hot key. Its amazing how efficient my computer usage is with Gnome 3. At first it was so different. Now I hate it when I find myself on a computer with anything else.

Sure these drivers get a few less fps than the closed drivers but nothing is noticeable as I am not playing games and the convenience of not having to deal with the nvidia drivers is amazing.

UPDATE: Not only is this so totally easy. It also remembers the settings when you log back in and reconect the monitor without even having to visit display preferences.

I wish there were not so many problems with doing simple everyday things on linux like hooking up a second monitor and getting the fonts to behave.
tinypliny - 06/07/11 20:47
I am not on ubuntu anymore. I am on Debian based Crunchbang. Unfortunately whenever I try and hook my second monitor up to my linux box the font on my monitor is so blurry and induces a headache. And I am running the official ATI linux driver. So I have just given up and resigned myself to just using my big monitor with my windows laptop.
paul - 06/05/11 11:47
Nouveau is also the default driver for ubuntu I believe. Not sure, you can find more info here :::link:::
tinypliny - 06/05/11 11:33
Are these universal for debian as well?
