Palak Queso Blanco
Category: food
I didn't use a recipe but it came out delicious. Instead of yogurt I used coconut cream. (e:terry) friend the Queso Blanco into perfect little crispy cubes but I forgot to get a pocket. The queso blanco stayed firm like paneer but I thought it was slightly too salty compared to paneer

The hardest part was that my blender broke so I was forced to hand chop the spinich and use the mini food chopper which sucked. I imagine someone used to make this dish before blenders existed.

I really like my stick blender for this. It makes less of a mess and there is less to clean up.
tinypliny - 05/26/11 21:33
cool - I meant cool not cook. Though it could be cooking beyond words!
tinypliny - 05/26/11 21:33
Wow - by using coconut cream, you made keerai masiyal instead! That is cook beyond words. It's a south indian dish that I love to bits! If you had added lentils to the mix, it would have transformed into Keerai Molaguttal: :::link:::

Youtube share link changes
Category: web
I just noticed that youtube changed their link share url to youtu.be/video_id

This broke the youtube embedder in estrip if you were using the full url between the youtube tags as the youtu.be addr does not work as the movie param value or embed src value of a youtube movie.
tinypliny - 05/26/11 21:35
Is this for all videos or only for the newer ones? Why do you think they did it? Because they ran out of space for new addresses in the youtube.com domain? Does that happen?
tinypliny - 05/26/11 21:34
So we are okay if we have been using just the last bit for linking?
flacidness - 05/18/11 00:34
I have no idea what that means :)

People Really Hate France
Category: web
Totally unrelated to the blue cheese site (e:paul,54285), I found this other gem:

Yoga is gay, like it is really fucking gay... Yoga is starting to really infest America and it is sickening me. It used to be contained to all the fags in Europe and the rest of France, but all the liberals are getting it over here.

tinypliny - 05/26/11 21:37
And I missed yoga this week because of the benadryl drama. And I AM CAUGHT UP!!!

(you really didn't post much this week, hehehe)

I try not to read comments with the exception of (e:strip). People say the most ridiculous things ever all the time, it is so discouraging.
tinypliny - 05/15/11 22:22
HAHAHA you find the most hysterical things... lol

Lexington Coop Chocolate Nut Butters
Category: food
I was at the coop picking up more raw honey and they had two nut butter options. One was a clearance discontinued chocolate peanut butter. The other was very similar to nutella in consistency. I got the ingredients of both.

They also had nutella but I forgot to check the origin. Sorry tiny.

I am going to check it out tomorrow on the way back from Ballet class.
tinypliny - 05/15/11 23:09
I think any Hazelnut chocolate creme spread is nutella anyway... I bet they bought their "Nutella" from Guercios (just as every 2nd thing in the coop), hiked the price up a couple dollars and out it on their shelves. In that case it will also be the NJ variety.
paul - 05/15/11 22:38
That was not the nutella. It was the stuff in the red topped jar to the left of the chocolate peanut butter.
tinypliny - 05/15/11 22:24
I have noticed a very large number of discontinued things in the coop lately... I don't think I have ever seen that many orange labels all together. But unfortunately, so do the other people. By the time I spot the orange label, there is wide gaping gap where that discontinued thing was supposed to be.

Gaping Gap.. hahaha
tinypliny - 05/15/11 21:28
But you did - it says "Product of Italy" under the ingredients... Over the last year, I tried out nearly 7 different types of hazelnut butter/nutella and didn't like any of them quite so much as justin's. There was this nutella called "Nocciolata Rigoni Organic" from italy (http://fiordifruttausa.com/nocciolata.shtml) that was somewhat better than the rest (but still worse and way too sweet compared with justin's). Nocciolata had:
Organic raw Cane Sugar, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Hazelnuts, Organic Cocoa, Organic Milk, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Vanilla, and Lecithin.

Justin's has:
Dry Roasted Hazelnuts, Organic Evaporated Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Powder, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Palm Fruit Oil, Natural Vanilla, Sea Salt.

I think I am ready to make my own real "nutella" at this point.

New Hamster
Category: pets
We got a new Teddy Bear hamster. This one is quite feisty which resulted in (e:matthew) being injured before we even got it home.

It's my own fault. I shouldn't have put my hand in the box so soon. Once we got home she calmed down. Hasn't bit me since. Hamster can be nippy, its true Lee. We had a small Russian dwarf hamster once who would attack anything that came into its cage. Once he was out of the cage he was as sweet as can be. The teddy bear hamsters are much more docile. The black teddy bear hamster we have has never bit me. She's my favorite.
lilho - 05/18/11 11:27
jeez! that is harsh..... get a zuzu pet instead.
metalpeter - 05/16/11 17:00
Hope none of that blood hit the floor cause if so the hamster might get eaten by the Tortoise... Seriously though you guys are brave with the pets....
leetee - 05/15/11 23:46
I've heard that hamsters are biters. Despite my experiences with the late Linus, domesticated "fancy" rats are way less likely to bite.
tinypliny - 05/15/11 21:22
I would be creeped out if I had a rodent running around in my flat... I was pretty astonished when I saw your other older hamster-mom.
tinypliny - 05/15/11 21:21
You better not let him near your toe, (e:Matthew).

Seriously, what is with Matthew and random injuries all over the place?! lol
