I must have done something awful in a past life or lives....
I cannot think of a day in recent history that i have come home from work and not burst into tears.
The job itself is stressful enough just dealing with the people we care for.
To top it off my bosses jerk me around by doing simple things like not approving and sending in my paperwork so i can get paid in time or waiting for me to request days off to go to the fucking dentist then making sure i work those days without "disapproving" my official requests that were in weeks ahead of time.
Being part time, i have a constant revolving door of a schedule. A schedule that (according to union rules on schedule notification) is always always always late.
So, i make appointments based on previous days off i have had, fill out the correct paperwork to ask for the days off 3 and 4 weeks ahead of time and magically, at the last second, i find out i am indeed working exactly when i asked for time off.
Scheduling is exactly why i left my last placement.
So many people tell me i am grateful to have a job.
Will i be grateful for the stress related heart attacks too?

For e:TinyplinyWho has been asking me to take a picture of all my Converse All-Stars together for almost as long as i have known her.
Well, i just finished putting all my shoes on the newly polyurethaned custom shoe shelves in the wee cubby in the entrance to my almost fully completed walk-in closet.
As you can see, (e:Tinypliny), i still have room for expansion. I only have 56 pairs (less that i thought!). And a couple of pairs of shoes that ARE NOT Converse All-Stars! *gasp!*

On days that US declares war on some unfortunate country, you could wear the Union Jack on one and a red one on the other... or maybe the flag colour of the unfortunate country.

Do you ever wear mismatched ones on purpose? Must be so cool - like making a statement....

Wow.... my eyes are bugging out.
You are like the Imelda of Converse All*Stars! You really do wear the rainbow at your feet.
I am so jealous that I don't have a shoe rack like that and even if I did my pathetic shoe collection would probably fill 1-2 shelves. So I recently went the cheapo way and bought rainbow coloured laces for five bucks... hehehe

Girls and ClosetAmelia and Emily
I've made a wee bit of progress with them... perhaps they will not be afraid of me forever. They both licked some plain yogurt from a spoon i was holding. And they both took a small bit of strawberry i had in my hand.
My Walk-In Closet
I am seeing the beginning of the end with my closet. We need to put up some UV blocking stuffs on the window and i want to get some sort of window treatment. Once that is done, i can hang up my jewelry hanger thingie. We got a new double hamper. And today i polyurethaned the top and two sides of my custom shoe shelves; tomorrow the bottom and the other 2 sides. I want to get some hooks to put up robes and stuff like that.... Then, perhaps a bit of artwork if there is some space left, just to look even prettier.

Rats!So we went and got the baby rats that i wanted. Yay!
They are so adorable. And about 6 weeks old.
Honey Hill Pet only had females, so 2 females we got. The one that (e:Uncutsaniflush) thought was very cute was a jumper and almost made it out into the big bad world.
I had one in my hand that was mostly grey but with some white patches and was relatively calm, so she was a keeper, then we found another that was more solid grey who managed to stay still for a while.
Hard to pick them out, it was more a matter of which ones could be caught and held.
So, we brought them home and i set up the big cage for them.
With much thought, we decided on the names Amelia and Emily. Amelia is the first out to explore and Emily is more reserved -- from what we can tell in a day!
I was so excited!!
But they are scared of us. It makes me incredibly sad. Pretty much opposite of why i wanted babies to begin with.
At first i thought it was because everything is so new.
But perhaps i will never have a pet i can pick up and hold and cuddle? *sigh*

Thanks,(e:Matthew)... i hope so too! In the meantime, i think they are adorable and hope they sit still long enough for me to take a photo of them!
Thanks, (e:npage148)... i have had an anti-social rat, we adopted him from the SPCA and eventually, we were able to pet him, but never pick him up. He was territorially aggressive (cleaning his cage, at first was risky to the digits!). I was hoping that getting babies would result in friendlier rats who had no preconcieved notions of us giant humans... In time, with some "trust training", i hope they will come round. :o)

I deal with lab rats and I've never had a mean or anti-social one. So once they grow up and get used to you they should be fine. They also shouldn't bite aside from trying to taste you.

Yay! Congrats on the newest additions to your family. Hopefully, with time, they'll give you a cuddle.

Happy Easter WeekendIn honor of this weekend, i present to you, Sketchy Bunnies....
In non-bunny related news, i think i am ready to go get new pet rat(s).
After Linus died, i needed a bit of time, it was so sudden. And, with us going away for a while i didn't want a new rat to be left alone after just getting here. Honey Hill mentioned on their fb page that they have babies. Babies! Squeee!
Every time i have had a pet rat (Zoe, Tofu & Tux, then Linus), they have all been adults. Although i loved Linus and i wouldn't have traded him in for anything, he had some challenges that probably had everything to do with how he was handled before we got him. He eventually trusted us, and we gave him a good life, and i will always adore him.
But now, it is time to have wee ones. And i am so excited!!! I think i want to get 2 females... they are social creatures, and i am not sure how to raise 2 males without any dominance issues....

Well I wish you luck...... In terms of fear of those bridges I don't blame you there at all.......
Metalpeter, you are correct that as a part time employee, i get my schedule dictated to me after the full time employees have theirs. However, i am NOT the lowest senority in the house, there are 2 other part time employees who have been working there less time than me and they do not have changes in their schedule.
Thanks everyone. I really needed to vent and i thank (e:Paul) for giving me the space to do it and you all for "listening".
I know i am not trapped and i know i deserve better, thanks. The emotional support was valuable!
I called the union and if i really wanted to, i could create a HUGE fuss about some of the things that have been going on. I think i would rather use the knowledge as ammunition in case something goes even more awry. Just insert a "uhm, ok, i am willing to do this, even though it is against union policy..."
I have been looking into other placements. We have a monthly bidding process for those looking for another location to work at. And this month, there was an interesting bid. Only down side is its Lewiston location... bit of a commute and yes, i am still scareded of the Grand Island Bridges!
i honestly think you deserve better. i recently left a job where i felt the same and i am so much happier now and have more opportunities.... don't waste precious time hating it... move on and find something better!
I don't work there and don't know what is going on... But from what it sounds like to me is you are low man on the Totem pole as they say... With being part time you get the hours that aren't covered from other people.... Also with being part time I'm sure all the full time people get their time off first.... I'm not saying that makes it any better.... What I'm wondering is if there is any way you can make a deal with someone and switch my guess is personal is to tight to do that though.....
The good news is, Lee, you are not trapped. Thankful for a job, yes but not grateful for the poor treatment. It's okay to feel that way. Lib offers a great suggestion to keep an eye out for opportunities you might be interested in. You are in control of your life! Take care
Maybe you can keep half an eye on job openings? I would suggest thinking about all the places that you want to work at and if they have job postings online checking them weekly.
Sounds terrible, (e:leetee). Sending out a million good wishes in your direction! Hopefully things will change for the better in time... I believe that karma in this life is about thinking positive and hoping against all odds that things will indeed take a turn towards the better and striving towards that goal relentlessly regardless of short-term setbacks.
