lol, yes I am a flaky person but this time the flakes are solid and substantial. You will see my office light on most nights on at Carlton. I am not even going to be able to make to ballet this week. I stopped going to salsa and hip hop ages back and of course, I haven't been to yoga in the past 3 weeks now.. :(
heidi - 05/01/11 21:36
You've been using work as an excuse way too often lately.
tinypliny - 05/01/11 21:34
Yeah, I really like that picture too. So cool. :-)
tinypliny - 05/01/11 21:33
I might turn up if my life is not down the drain that day (considering I am still at work right now... on a Sunday night, no less) and using (e:strip) as a break room. :/
heidi - 05/01/11 21:30
Beautiful!!!! Despite my "interesting" life, I was stuck inside all day. Love the Padmasana pose! Wednesday yoga, anyone?
metalpeter - 05/01/11 10:15

Birdie in a bottle
Category: mobl
We let the canary fly around all the time. I heard a weird noise so went to look for him and this is where I found him. He's so cute!

"I'm a birdie in a bottle, come, come, come on and let me out."
tinypliny - 04/22/11 23:46
Is he okay with you picking him up? Is he friends with the hamster? (I know Basra would probably have him for breakfast...)
paul - 04/22/11 22:36
He went in but couldn't get out. So cute to watch his eye magnify when he looked through.

Turkey Stew Recipe
Category: food
So the turkey stew from my last entry ended up being very tasty, so I thought I'd post my recipe as it were. I'm not sure how big my crock pot is, the bigger size tho lol, 4 qts?

2 lbs turkey tenderloins (or other turkey parts)
2 medium onions, chopped
5 cloves garlic, diced
1/2 cup white wine
1 cup mushrooms, chopped
3-4 good-sized carrots, chopped
4-5 white potatoes, chopped
3-4 stalks celery, chopped
1 bunch kale, chopped
1 can navy beans, rinsed
1 can great northern beans, rinsed
(the exact amount of veggies/beans is quite up to you, as are which veggies you use, I think just about any would be good)
spices (I used dried dill, paprika, curry powder and fresh marjoram)
salt/pepper to taste
~1 cup flour (I used rice, but others should work fine)
3-4 tblsps oil (I used olive, use whichever you prefer)

Put the flour in a bowl and add dry spices. Cut your turkey into more or less bite-sized pieces. Heat frying pan and coat with oil. Pat both sides of each turkey piece with the flour/spice mixture. Braise for a minute or two on each side. You may need to add a bit of oil between batches. Throw the meat in the slow-cooker. To the same pan add the onions and garlic; saute until translucent but not crispy. Add the wine to the onions and stir until all accumulated brown bits are scraped off. Pour onion/wine mixture into crock pot.

Everything else is cake! Throw everything else in and give it a stir or two. I usually leave my crock on high for about 2 hours and then turn it to low for another 4 hours or so. Add another dose of dried spices and the fresh marjoram when you think you've got about another half hour of cooking left. Adjust any spices to taste. I like to add a bit of liquid amino acids at this point too and just a tad of soy sauce, completely optional.

Serve right out of the pot or for the next week or so, tastes even better on day two onwards in my opinion.

That sounds really extravagant forv stew. But I'm sure it was awesome!!!
tinypliny - 04/19/11 00:38
That is very involved! Its almost as involved as making that multiple-rise bread I made a while back.
libertad - 04/18/11 21:38
I was wondering about your recipe, it looked so good sitting in the crock uncooked. When I first read it I was shocked about the amount of flour and then I realized it was for brazing and it made sense.

There doesn't seem to be much liquid in it, I guess that is what makes it stewy. I wish you had a pic of finished product.
enknot - 04/18/11 16:19
Speaking of soup recipies, do you still have that paper from the beer club. That soup needs to happen in my belly!
enknot - 04/18/11 16:18
NIIIIIICE! It was very very tasty. I fear no turkey leftovers with this in my toolbelt.
