Wifi privacy nightmare in buffalo
Category: computers
Wow this would totally suck. People really need to password protect their wifi. Not that password protected wifi is unhackable but at least it much safer.

BUFFALO, N.Y.

It was a nightmare scenario: A homeowner forced to lie on the floor while gun-wielding federal law enforcement officers called him a pedophile and pornographer.

But the Buffalo, N.Y., man was innocent. Someone else had tapped into his wireless Internet router to download child pornography. The homeowner had gotten frustrated trying to set up a password to protect the wireless signal and paid a heavy price.

I admit I'm a little lost about the other stuff... It is crazy that they went in with guns drawn. What if he had a legal gun and was say cleaning it or something or someone had a toy gun.... The Point is you don't go in with guns out over down loaded images it wasn't like the guy was shooting porn in the basement......

In addition to passwords, it's a good idea to turn off broadcasting your essid and set your router for a white-list of MAC addresses.

All these can be hacked, of course, but it would make it a wee bit more difficult for a lazy wardriver.

Another good idea is to look at what machines are actually assigned ip's by your router. If you only have 3 devices and there are 4 different MACs attached to your network, someone is probably using your network without your permission.

jelly belly beans
Category: food
The pear ones taste so good. I remember when these first came out here when I was a kid. We would take the bus from kenmore down to the main place mall where they had them. I still remember how surprised I was when I tried popcorn flavor ones.

The butter lamb
Category: food
I always feel bad eating it. Its weird because I don't feel bad eating a real lamb.

I feel bad, too. That's why I started from his rear, not his head. His eyes are peppercorns.

It does look sad sitting there... I think its the face. Strategically placed piteous eyes.

Fresh Corn?
Category: food
I don't believe this fresh corn is from Niagara county. Do they store it frozen? Is it grown in green houses. Its $0.59 an ear which sound ridulouslu expensive considering corn is like 4-10 per dollar in the summer. At the same time it seams reasonable considering it us not summer and when compared to other veggies that size and weight.

Wow - if you had not pointed out the price differential between summer and winter, I would have thought of that as a very reasonable price.

Basra and the sunshine
Category: pets
Basra played in the backyard and I hung out with (e:mike) and practiced more one handed cartwheels. The goal of back handsprings seems impossible at this point. Mike tried to convince me that the only thing stopping me from a no handed cartwheel is fear. He might be right but it seriously feels like hurling you face at the ground.

He has this wise yoda look about him... I wonder if I can make a origami tortoise.
tinypliny - 04/24/11 13:34
It's like Terry and Basra are doing some exotic yoga variation asana together. :)
