Running Hazards
Two summers ago I fell into the street while running. i tripped over the curb and luckely no cars were coming. i cut my knee pretty bad and also put a hole in my sneaker and sock. Every so just by chance they come back together for a reunion.

hehehee that is hilarious for some reason. And wow, that must have been some fall! The small statistician in me wants to calculate the probability of that happening. (Combination shoe-sock of interest/all possible combination of shoes-socks)

I have tripped over many times and every time I tear my knee up. If ever I had dreams of having smooth knees, those dreams are over. I have so many road-battle scars on my knees and small holes in my jeans or yoga trousers or whatever I was wearing at that time. It is worse when you trip over wearing one of these hole-ridden clothes. It hurts more because there is nothing in the way to take the impact.

Shaved for the first time in about a month
I decided this year I really was going to grow out facial hair. I am a pretty low maintenance guy and I like this keep things simple. This was very new for me. I usually shave 2 to 3 times per week but don't mine a little scruff in between.

Here is me before:

I feel kind of naked now. You know that feeling that you get in the spring when you don't wear a coat outside? Like something is missing. I did kind of like it and will probably make it a yearly thing in the winter.

You had a nice beard. I can't imagine shaving everyday. Then again, I think guys look way better with beards.

Which file upload wasn't working?

Cleaning out
Last night I spent some time in the basement cleaning up. Over the past year clutter has overtaken any sort of order that was hashed out down there. Most of my time was spent breaking down boxes that I have saved on higher priced items along with empty boxes from kids toys. I told my wife after I break down a bunch of stuff and take it to the curb I feel so liberated. Kind of makes me want to rent a dumpster and throw out a bunch.

This bring me to my next annoyance....shredding. I hate the fact that stuff sent to me without my asking has to be disposed of differently. I have almost 2 garbage bags full of papers that need to be destroyed to help protect us from identity theft. Does this even matter anymore? I would think that if someone really wanted to steal my identity they could. I check my credit report a few times which I think is a good preventative measure. Perhaps I am a little paranoid. I think at this point I might try and track down a metal barrel and make it into a paper burning station. I am at the point where my shredder will overheat if I feed that much paper through it not to mention the time that will take. Anyone know where I can get a metal 55 gallon barrel?

I nodded in agreement so many times as I read this post. Recycling consciousness always comes in the way of a completely garbage-free home for me AND I am ALWAYS annoyed about the whole necessity of shredding stuff. Can't people NOT devise ways to steal things and leave people in peace for a change??? It is so environmentally unfriendly to burn or shred or not recycle potentially decomposable paper - and YET, it's almost a necessity. VERY frustrating.

I say burn it and take pictures. I bought one of those chiminea things from home depot last year. You could defiantly use one of those. Okay, I meant definitely but since it got spell corrected to defiantly, I thought I'd leave it. You can see it here (e:paul,40128) when we used it for our friend Dave's retirement party. It could totally rip through a ton of paper.

I love nothing more than throwing crap out. Recycling has put such a wrench in that though. Like I have this giant pile of metal scraps in my basement that I need to bring somewhere.

Seems like an adventurous 2 year old. Hope he is okay now.
paul - 10/22/10 15:39
I was once wounded by a coffee table, I never forgave it.
