Bubbies Litchi Icecream Dessert
Category: food
(E:lilho) bought these delicious litchi mochi ice cream treats for (e:matthew) for his birthday but he didn't like them for some reason. So I tried one and to me, they are the tastiest dessert ever.

The outside is a sweet chewy mochi with litchi ice cream inside. We got them at premier on Delaware and there are a bunch of other flavors.

I want these!!!!
paul - 03/26/11 22:46
What an interesting backstory :::link:::
tinypliny - 03/26/11 14:02
I need to tell you about the funny thing that happened when I tried to take a pic of Corasanti... (so not saying that online.. lol)
tinypliny - 03/26/11 14:01
Whoa that was a very fast tonight. :) thanks!
paul - 03/26/11 13:50
It also prevents you from clicking save twice now.
paul - 03/26/11 13:47
I fixed it. They parse when at the beginning of the comment now.
paul - 03/26/11 13:28
Nope the format is fine, I just looked. The issue is that I have it expecting a space or new line at the beginning. That is why the same :::link::: works here. I will fix it later tonight and it will update.
tinypliny - 03/26/11 12:36
Why didn't that convert to a link? Is it coded so that only things that end in htm/l convert to hyperlinks?
tinypliny - 03/26/11 12:35

I miss having real litchis and a fruit called the "nongu" that grows on palm-like trees. It looks like an egg, has an egg like shell that you peel off, inside it's like a litchi with a tender coconut flavor and at the core is juice that is like a blend of coconut water and sweet litchi juice. Seriously, the nongu blows your mind. I once ate 30 of them one after the other on one vacation to my grandma's. I just couldn't stop. I was in nongue heaven... and then went to hang out that beach later that evening. I miss the beach.

From gold teeth to grillz
Category: web
I was searching for the cost of getting gold teeth when I found grillz. They seem like a real cheap rip off on gold teeth. Are these really popular?

metalpeter - 03/26/11 18:24
He is going to try and be on the 3rd Direct TV ad! HA... My Understanding is a grill attaches or is like a front plate to the teeth...
tinypliny - 03/26/11 08:45
First the cost of a static IP and then gold teeth and now grillz... What is this about? Sitting at home running a new-age internet mafia?

My quest for static IP at home
Category: computers
I want a static IP at my house with minimum 5mbps upload. Why is this so damn difficult in 2011? Right now I am "live chatting" with a Time Warner agent. I thought maybe it would be better than talking to them on the phone. Each time I called I got a different answer with prices in all sorts of ridiculous ranges to, "they don't offer it at my location."

Them: Please provide you name
Me: Paul
Them: Thank you for providing your name.
Me: I want a static IP with a minimum of 5mbps upload speed. How much is that?
A MINUTE PASSES
Them: I understand you are an existing custome rof Time Warner Cable and would like to start a new account with static ip and Internet service at the same address. Is that correct.
Me: yes, that is what I said. It needs a minimum of 5mbps. How much does that cost.
A MINUTE PASSES
Me: Is this a difficult question?
Them: Sure I will be glad to assist you.
30 seconds go by
Them: May I have your zip code
Me: 14209-2204
Them: Thank you for providing your zip code
Them: May I know the service you are using with Time Warner.
Me: Why does it matter I want a separate account.
Me: Right now I have roadrunner home internet, but I really want a new separate account
3 MINUTES GO BY
Them: Thank you for the confirmation
Them: I would like to inform you that you can not set up two accounts at the same address.
Me: What is the cost of a static IP? You are making this exceedingly difficult.
Them: I would like to inform you that you need to contact our local Time Warner Cable Office in order to have information on the static IP. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused. Would you like the number?
Me: yes
Them: You can contact our local Time Warner Cable Office at 716-558-3000 or 866-668-6044
Them: If you have just another moment, I would to ask a question or two about you situation to see whether we can make your servie even more enjoyable for your family. Will that be alright?
Me: The local number does not work. It keeps dying as soon as I dial it.
Them: I am sorry about your experience.

So I call the 866 number. Turns out that is also the wrong number for what I need. They transfer me to business class.

Finally I get an answer:
35/5 $119/month with a three year contract

I always wonder who works at helpdesk, be it roswell or anywhere else. They all share that peculiarly annoying quality of not understanding what anyone really wants, even when stated in simple straightforward terms. Maybe they are all come from the same dense planet.

Buffalorising.com Compromised With Malware
Category: web
Today when visiting Buffalorising via google I got this google warning saying it is serving malware. It appears to come from the third party content on the page. Advertisements, banners, etc. This is precisely why I don't trust 3rd party code. Its just opening you up to everything from keystroke recorders to malware.

But I am always excited... that kind of takes the variable out of the equation!
paul - 03/25/11 23:58
I think you got too excited and clicked twice.
tinypliny - 03/25/11 22:34
How did that comment turn up twice? Glitch in the system!!!
tinypliny - 03/25/11 22:33
I think I have been there. Is it the one next to Sweet Tooth? I just randomly walked in and got something hot to drink on a snowy day while I was taking a rather long route home. It was a bit too sweet... I wished I had told them to lay off the sugar. I felt like I was back home where they saturate every conceivable beverage with sugar till you can see crystals on the bottom of your tea cup!

I still haven't gone there yet. I keep meaning to.

I like Taza because it's cozy and intimate and you get to talk to people. (Other coffee shops are for being by yourself in public.) The baristas make hot chocolates just for me - almost always different while avoiding the flavors I don't like (raspberry) and then we sit and chat, like unexpectedly dropping by a friend's house for a cuppa. There are currently four baristas - Brena (the owner), Kevin, Brittany, and Jon. Jon sings and plays guitar for me, trying out his new songs. Kevin and I talk about the art scene, his latest projects, and women. Brittany and I gossip and chatter about the neighborhood and school and change. I don't know Brena as well because she works in the mornings. Lots of interesting folks hang out there - lots of regulars so it's possible to develop friendships and random connections without really trying. Taza had a birthday party a month or so ago - it was so interesting to see folks out of context.

Sometimes I'm so busy that I can't schedule fun with friends (like this week... :-( no gaming, no bowling, no movies... ) and Taza gives me good social interaction without the pressure of scheduling.
tinypliny - 03/25/11 01:20
Hmm... why do you like Taza? Why not other cafés? :)
metalpeter - 03/24/11 18:55
I haven't voted Yet I keep meaning to I know 464 would good for the new art space or gallery Hoping to vote over the weekend........
heidi - 03/24/11 17:41

Speaking of Buffalo Rising 2 things quickly come to mind .....
1. They are like the Major Website about Buffalo that isn't part of another News Provider (Radio and Papers have websites) you would think they would have this under control......

2. This Reminds me I haven't checked it out but recently I have people asking for you to vote for them in Artvoice's Best of Buffalo
2b. When I have voted in the Past some of that makes me feel so lame... The reason being is they have all kinds of questions that I have no idea how to answer locally about.......
jbeatty - 03/24/11 11:05
I took a snapsot of this earlier and was going to post it for you you today. I figured it would make you happy considering your hatred Buffalo Rising.
