The dream light in transit for a month
Category: stuff
I ordered this lamp I wanted on Feb 27th. I didn't check the options on shipping. I must have gotten stuck with ground shipping. It left the facility in CA on Feb 28th. The estimated arrival time is March 21st. I am now wondering if it is being shipped by bike courier or pony . Leave it to the USPS to make it as slow as possible. Shipping was $6.99 and it is a tiny desk lamp.

Shipment Date:     February 28, 2011
Origination:     Bell Gardens CA, United States
Destination:     Buffalo, NY, United States
Estimated Arrival:     March 21, 2011

According to google maps , this is 1 day and 16 hours of driving away. Now I know that is non-stop and that the truck will probably take breaks but 3 weeks worth?
paul - 03/06/11 03:53
I would pay $69 for it.
tinypliny - 03/05/11 23:45
So even with the sound, what's your upper and lower reasonable price range?
paul - 03/05/11 23:00
No I bet it just makes it. It is barely audible. My laptop which was super expensive makes the same noise. Maybe I am just sensitive to the frequency. Thinking about it the laptop has an LED screen. Maybe I don't like the sound of LEDs, lol.
tinypliny - 03/05/11 22:40
How much do you think you would be willing to pay for it if the noise wasn't there?
tinypliny - 03/05/11 22:39
Do you think the new ones would make that noise as well? Maybe they sold this unit because its making that whine?
paul - 03/05/11 21:05
It's neat but not worth the +$100. The biggest con is that it makes a barely audible high pitched noise like some other electronics do.
paul - 03/05/11 18:31
When I came back from gym, the light was just on the doorstep in a cardboard box, in the rain. You could have stolen it. The USPS system totally failed for tracking. It still has the delivery date as the end of the month.
tinypliny - 03/03/11 22:59
Maybe Basra ordered a mail-order bride from them when you weren't looking and they are sending the lamp strapped on to the bride's back - you know, as a dowry.

Can I be there to welcome the bridal procession? PLEEEEEEAAAASSSE??? :-)

Cross Country Skiing at Allegheny
Category: skiing
Headed with (e:matthew), (e:terry) dave and (e:keithT) down to allergheny for some cross country skiing.

We all piled into dave's van to get there. It was nice as its been a while since we went anywhere in the van.

So cross country skiing is pretty sweet. I wish I had sturdier leather boots instead of the plasticy ones I rented.

(e:keithT) managed the entire trip in a white teeshirt which means shirtless adventures are just around the corner ;) I can't wait for summer to start.

Ugli Fruit
Category: food
It is that time of year when the ugli fruit is back in season.

To me it is the best tasting fruit I have ever eaten save cherries and the practically fruit punch flavored blackberries from my yard. I would give it a 10/10.

Right now they are 2 for $4 at Wegman's. They last a very long time I'm the fridge. I have yet to get a bad one and I have tried green and yellow colored ones.

The fruit itself is so easy to peel like a giant tangerine. It is also the juiciest fruit I have even eaten.

You can try it on wednesday.
tinypliny - 02/27/11 17:22
Or just come and steal one from you. ;-)
tinypliny - 02/27/11 17:22
Okay I have never eaten these... Maybe I should go to Wegmans tonight.

Canned Potatoes
Category: food
Who is so lazy that potatoes are too difficult to cook? I guess they last longer but, seriously?

metalpeter - 02/27/11 10:45
Think it is more of a not peeling them thing? But that being said some things (from what I have heard) are made to cook with the skin still on and some with the skin off so.........................
tinypliny - 02/26/11 21:14
The same people who buy cut up vegetables wrapped in plastic and squashed on to a styrofoam tray?

Blue fin on Elmwood, soft shell crab, yum!
Category: food
Went to lunch at Blue Fin on elmwood with (e:samathon86) and (e:enknot).

I swear it gets better everytime I go and that says a lot because I really liked it from the first visit.

I usually get saba and toro sashimi with a side of fried rice or lo neon but all of the entrees I have seen and tried are so awesome that it's hard to keep getting that.

For example, (e:enknot) got the softshell crab. Check out how awesome it looks.

It actually was not greasy at all. The glimmer shine is a chilli sweet and sour sauce.
tinypliny - 02/26/11 20:53
Hmm.. that thing is swimming in oil. Maybe it is all tasty because they deep fry everything.
mike - 02/26/11 19:42
lo neon? sounds toxic
