I think I first heard this song when I was 10 or 11 and I fell in love with it. The song was first released in 1966. This version is from 1970.
The music is by Zygmunt Konieczny. The lyrics are fragments of a poem by Miron Białoszewski
Wsiadajcie, madonny madonny
Do bryk sześciokonnych ...ściokonnych!
Konie wiszÄ… kopytami nad ziemiÄ….
One w brykach na postoju już drzemią.
Każda bryka malowana w trzy ogniste farbki
I trzy są końskie maści: od sufitu od dębu od marchwi.
Drgnęły madonny
I orszak konny
Ruszył z kopyta.(...)
MigajÄ… w krÄ…g anglezy grzyw
I lambrekiny siodeł,
I gorejÄ…ce wzory bryk
Kwiecisto-laurkowe.
A w każdej bryce vis à vis
Madonna i madonna
W nieodmienionej pozie tkwi
Od dziecka odchylona
— białe konie
— bryka
— czarne konie
— bryka
— rude konie
— bryka
Magnifikat!
A one w Leonardach min,
W obrotach Rafaela,
W okrągłych ogniach, w klatkach z lin,
W przedmieściach i niedzielach.
I w każdej bryce vis à vis
Madonna i madonna.
I nie wiadomo, która śpi,
A która jest natchniona
— szóstka koni
— one
— szóstka koni
— one
— szóstka koni
— one
Zakręcone!
English translation (Faun Fables):
Just step in madonna, madonnas.
And get in madonna, madonnas.
All the patient horses are waiting,
with their hoofs above ground they are hanging.
And the carriages are restless,
everyone is painted matching all the horses,
looking like the colors of the ceiling,
of the oak tree, of a carrot.
A stir from madonnas,
a stampede of hundreds
bolting off their hoofs.
Circling in fire in their roped-in cages,
once they were of games
and throughout every dancehall
with a will of vigor, burning flowers.
And in each carriage arm and arm,
madonna and madonna.
From childhood bent up,
she is stuck inside an unchanging time.
White horses carriage,
black horses carriage,
red horses carriage,
magnificent!
Just as a gift for the
complicated eras that are too sad,
everyday on Sundays
working for the midnight holy masses.
And in each carriage arm and arm,
madonna and madonna.
And no one knows which is asleep
and which one is inspired.
White horses carriage, black horses carriage,
red horses carriage, magnif

(e:tinypliny) - I've seen Slask live when I visited Poland in 1978. That's what' they look like. They all have the same clothes and the same hair. It is almost important to remember that make-up can be used to make faces look even more alike.
It's part of the Slask "look".
Maybe its a clever video(photo)shop cut and replicate trick.
(e:metalpeter)! TOTALLY! there IS a clone-like quality to them!!
I will ask her mum tomorrow and report back. :-D
From what I've heard, the performers for Slask are chosen for "looks" as well as talent to give the ensemble a consistent look.
My assumption is that the performers are supposed to look like they are from the Silesian region of Poland.
Alas, I can't remember where (e:imk) hales from.
yeah they could lets say her not as pretty as her family, is it me or does it look like they took one person and made a lot of that one person.....
You are spot on. I almost did a double-take! They could easily be (e:imk2)'s sisters or cousins! I can't believe how familiar that bone structure, those eyes and those lips look!! I wonder how (e:imk2) is doing... I ran into her mum the other day and she told me that (e:imk2) was doing well in London but still, I miss her.
This made me realise just how Polish (e:imk2) is.
