Tinypliny's food survey answersCategory: food
1. I drink about 1 and 1/2 gallons of whole milk per week. I also eat about 20grams protein worth of whey powder each morning with breakfast.
2. I eat a few slices of cheese each day but not a ton.
3. I use no creamer, besides milk I drink lots of juice mixed with water or just water - no coffee, sometimes herbal tea but barely.
4. I eat 1-1/2 cups of cooked rice every single day. I usually mix half brown/half white. More if you include rice cakes.
5. I eat 0.25 loaves of bread per week. Sometimes, like today, I do eat some bread. Usually, I do not.
6. I eat barely any pasta although I like rice noodles and mung bean noodles.
7. I eat meat everyday, most often fish, clams, shrimp, crab, squid, octopus. Occasionally lamb, chicken or steak. Usually lean but I do like some fat on steak. Not huge portions, accept for maybe shrimp. Sometimes I eat like 20 of them.
8. I almost never eat eggs. A couple years ago I ate eggs every single morning.
You forget to mention these but I eat a ton of vegetables and fruits everyday. Mostly, peas raw, celery, salad greens, string beans cooked, asparagus, strawberries, watermelon, citrus fruit, apples, dried apricots, olives, and blueberries.
I use almost no butter, I liberally pour olive oil on everything. Not so much cooked with olive oil but like poured on afterwards.
Also lots of nuts, especially cashews, almonds and pecans.
I eat almost no processed/packages/preserved food at all. The closest I get are like fig newmans and corn chips. I eat about 85% organic accept obviously not when I eat out. I use very few spices but those I do eat are rosemary, oregano, clove and cinnamon.
I also like to mix all my food together. I generally eat the most right before bed. I exercise at the gym about 3 times a week and walk around a bunch.

Food is such an interesting part of who we are and a window to who we want to be. It reflects personal choices, living compromises, tastes, attitudes and even schedules.

Based on the responses, you seem to be the only other person who drinks almost as much milk as I do. I intentionally omitted produce because I wanted to keep the poll short. Maybe I should do a only-produce survey in the future. :)
Have your food habits changed since the Crohn's diagnosis?
It is interesting that you said you eat just before bedtime - do you mean right before bedtime?
PS: I dropped rice from my diet because I analyzed each component of my diet in detail and arrived at the conclusion that I found rice and potatoes the most addictive! I frequently went over my only-70%-full rule and overate rice and potatoes. The result was drowsiness and lack of productivity. So I stopped buying both as an exercise in de-addiction.
I think of most of my food choices as an experiment in how resolve affects intake. I remember that in 2007, I went completely without any pizza - from January 1 through December 31. I plan to go without rice till Dec 31 this year.
