The Daily Chuck:
(yesterday, i was grumpy about work shite and decided to wear the orange ones to cheer me up, so i thought it would be a waste of space to post a rerun)
I had the time today to make food that can simmer on the stove. So, i decided to make a huge pot of vegetarian chili. It has mushrooms and peppers and carrots and sweet potatoes and cauliflower and corn and tofu and black beans and onions and garlic and lots of spiced tomatoes....

Pissed Off Rant About WorkThis summer, a trainee was fired. She had a sweet job position. It was Monday through Friday, 8:45am to 2:45pm. Within a week of her termination, i asked my boss what was going to happen with her spot. I was told the position would not be filled because it was no longer needed. Darn.
A few weeks ago, another unit in my building was closed and as all the residents were placed in community group homes. All the employees were placed on other units or bid out to group homes. The union made sure they all had jobs to go to. Cool.
A very nice woman was one of the part time employees sent to our unit. I really like her. I like the way she does things and i would love her to be one of the people who i see working on my shift when i work.
But she went from being a 50% (20 hour) a week afternoon shift employee to a 75% (30 hour) a week employee after a couple of weeks on our unit. Yes, she got that job that i wanted back in the summer, the weekday days spot that is so coveted. By me, and i assume others.
So, i went to my union. Filed all the papers as i was supposed to. Told i would receive something in the mail. Didn't. Got a message on Friday. Returned the call today.
Turns out that what i think of as a promotion of being guaranteed an additional 10 hours a week is not. That part time is part time and why should i be complaining when i still have a job and so does she and we are both part time. Basicly, i was told that i am stupid for not understanding the concept that she was displaced and needed a job and was given one. That the union needs to protect her. And that things just cannot snowball, it just doesn't work that way. So, what i understand is that the union doesn't think seniority matters. Because i have been displaced over and over again and the reason has always been because i have the least amount of senority. But now that she is on our unit, i don't; two people have less than me and both now have permanent placements on days and i still twist in the wind.

Ugh, I feel for you. I hate when union shit gets messy. It's all fine and dandy when it's employees vs managers, but a different story when it's emp vs emp. Sucks it turned out that way. And especially sucks that it sounds like their will be no further discussion on the matter.

Not Alone!Due to the specialness of the day, i wore fancy chucks.
And, it turns out, i was not the only one today. It's a chuckyhallowedding!
(i am not sure whose feet these are, either (e:Jason) or (e:Joshua), ushers extraordinaire)

See ThroughNo, the chucks are not orange and white stripes, they are see through. And the rubber bits and the trim are glow in the dark.

So If I get that correctly what ever color or pattern of socks you wear it makes the shoes look like that, that is a cool idea.

Yum!
Come cold weather, I usually make a stove top chili/soup/stew with all of the left over veggies in my fridge. Often it turns out good, sometimes not so palatable. Sometimes scary looking, too. Your post reminds me that it is time to get cooking. However, I want my concoction to turn out tasting as good as that pic looks :)
SO, I aim to be more strategic in making my pot of cold weather yumminess. Cauliflower and sweet potatoes are going on the grocery list for sure. Hmm, maybe a spicy-curryish veggie chili. You've got me thinking.. thanks!
That does look really good.
looks yummy!
