beer summit
Category: not politics
The beer summit is today and on Fox Business Channel they were talking about how in the choices of the three participants, there was not one American Beer as the beverage of choice.

It will be Bud Light for Obama, Blue Moon for Crowley and Red Stripe for Gates, the White House says.

So we have InBev for Obama (Belgium/Brazil), MolsonCoors for Crowley (Canada) and Diagio for Gates (United Kingdom) What happened to having all of the stimulus money being directed to be spent buying products from domestic companies? ;-)

Then again their only choices would be PBR, Genny and Sam Adams if they were to stay with USA owned companies if you think about it on a macro scale.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Rolling Rock, they sold out to Bud at the time. The whole thing with them was sad as they moved the production from Latrobe to New Jersey. Needless to say I never had it again ever since.
metalpeter - 08/01/09 10:48
I still can't believe Bud sold it self out like that. I still think of them as an American Beer, because it is and it is made here. Someone with a sense of Humor should have Had Busch that would have been funny. I think Yuengling was bought by Anheiser Busch A few years back and that is why they got the big push all over the country, but not sure if that is true.

Sam Adams Light would have been a respectable choice for the President, if he wanted to stick with light beer. PBR would've rocked though.
drew - 07/30/09 15:22
Yuengling, if you go for a macrobrew. But I would have a micro on hand from each of the 50 states if I were president.
jbeatty - 07/30/09 15:06
There was a politician from Mass complaining that they should be drinking Sam Adams since its the largest American owned brewery. The founder of Sam Adams said he would brew a special beer for the event if they picked his beer. Which I thought was pretty cool.
dcoffee - 07/30/09 13:55
I'll have an Aviator Red Please. (although my usual is a Yuengling :), don't tell me "America's oldest Brewery" is owned by some overseas Schmucks too..
heidi - 07/30/09 12:53
Yuengling.

My piece of the Wall Street Fallout.

I owned a few shared of Merrill Lynch back in '07. I was kind of naive and bought it on the "advice" of Eric Bolling who at the time was on CNBC's Fast Money show. Needless to say I bought it at 96.89 and was stopped out at 89.26 Needless to say I wish I was short back in Jan of '07 specifically at that price with my life savings at the time as I would be living in my house all paid for in cash. Yea, hindsight is always 20/20 right?

Well at least someone on (e:strip) is going to get a piece of the "Bailout" money ;-) Or in my case I'm going to get back a portion of my tax dollars to "save the too big's to fail!"

Depeche Mode Concert
Category: concerts
I went up to the Molson Amphitheater last night to catch one of the legends of "Alternative" music. Needless to say I just love the venue as it's just great to be around people that are passionate about an artist and not out to sit on a lawn chair, blow smoke in your face, have a conversation that drowns out the music, have their kids run into you or worse having them run into you spilling their drink on you in the process. Plus you don't get an A/V experience like this at a free show.

Beware of the Asian Lesbian Foot Fetish Blow Job ;-)

But it was a great time as I realized that I could skip the line and also gain access to a lounge by doing business with a certain company. All I wish is that I had known this in my prior visits to the MA. But this time I played it a bit more local as I parked my car in Oakville and took the train in and out of the city.
jenks - 07/26/09 15:07
awesome. I would love to see them. and I like that venue too.

Sunday Nights
I had a great time with (e:Drew) @ Wilco tonight. It just worked out perfectly as I caught facebook at the right time when he was offering the ticket.

Other than that I'm kind of sad tonight. I was listening to the Martin Streek tribute before I meet up with him and it really hit home driving it in that he's never going to be on the air again. At least there is the live to air shows going on still and listening to the Velvet Underground show tonight and after hearing the Chameleons UK "Swamp thing" it really made me a bit emotional. Not only that but earlier int the day I had a 5 year relationship/friendship whatever it was mutually ended. It really in the end is for the best as I don't think honestly I can "move on" to whatever is next for me with her always in the background being emotional every 3 month or so trying to to a post-mortem on our "relationship" which is annoying when it is the same thing over and over again.

Anyway I'm just happy that the "spirit" of Martin is still going on for the time being. Who knows what will happen in the future or to the station, but for the moment I'm hearing The Cure "Just live Heaven" & Tones on Tail "Go." So that brings me a bit of joy in overall a kind of sad day. When a friendship ended and listening to a tribute of a very interesting person who committed suicide what can you really feel?
