Kitty sitter? Drumline ticket?
Category: pets
I need to go home this week - would anyone like to come visit my sweet purry China Cat Sunflower? Three visits would ensure her happiness.

Back when I bought a ticket to DRUMLine Live ( based on the movie ) at UB North Center for the Arts, I didn't realize I had spring break this week. So, anyone want a ticket? 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 Orchestra Row H, Seat 112.

Searcher, there is no road. We make the road by walking.

Don't lynch me but that that sounds suspiciously like a Chuck Norris joke. HAHAH
janelle - 03/09/09 12:05
I should be able to do it. I can stop in on mornings before work or after work. Let me know when you leave and get back.

growth of Facebook
Category: social networks
I've befriended the neighbor kids' grandmother and father, my aunt's best childhood friend, A's aunt, a former landlord, and my dad's cousin in the past week on Facebook. It's freaky.

# 45% of Facebook's US audience is now 26 years old or older.

  1. The fastest growing segment in the US: Women over 55, up 175.3% in the last 120 days. Facebook growing faster with women than men in almost every age group.

At least one person attributed some of the growth to 25 things meme (see (e:lauren,47634) and (e:metalpeter,47564)).

Why now? Why facebook?

I much prefer estrip.
tinypliny - 03/15/09 17:49
I really <3 your profile pic. :)
tinypliny - 03/15/09 17:49
I am still not on facebook. I much prefer tangible friends like you all instead of accumulating random contacts all over the place and changing my current status a million time over the day - or is that myspace?
metalpeter - 03/02/09 19:29
I have been meaning to do a post about this but I'm not sure what to say Fubar, (e:strip), Myspace, and Facebook are all different and I use them kinda differently. I think one of the reasons facebook is taking off is that the main thing it does is keep you updated on everyone else and what they are doing. See you can do that on myspace also but that isn't the main thing on myspace it really isn't. I just joined like a couple weeks ago. Facebook is where you are supposed to like keep in contact with people as opposed to like joining to keep up with bands. I also think that myspace being so commerical and having tie ins to date sites and fake profiles and accounts getting hacked has hurt it some.

usability on mobile phones
Category: programming
I thought (e:jim) and (e:paul) and maybe others would find this article interesting, Mobile Web 2009=Desktop 1998

Summary:
Mobile phone users struggle mightily to use websites, even on high-end devices. To solve the problems, websites should provide special mobile versions.

paul - 02/19/09 13:42
That is why I always made the mobile site. I have had a smart phone since the first ones came out and honestly having a mobile site is easier. Most of the time on the go, you just want information, not all the features you have at the desktop.

Apple seems to be forcing that with native apps. The problem with native apps is that they are iphone specific and soon you need native apps for every phone type out there.

Little more historical bit: What is the "railroad swing bridge"? Is that the thing you go over from West Ferry across Niagara to the park? Is the railroad bridge between Canada & US still in use?

I love biking the whole riverwalk in the summer. It is crazy speeding along, dodging dozens of people fishing violently. I sincerely hope no one is eating what they catch.
paul - 02/15/09 23:40
I was trying to figure out where all the marble chunks were down by the water. I mean I knew there was some near the old Times beach but that was a crazy amount. Then I realized it was ice, lol.
