update from discordia
THank you Heidi for fixing my computer! it runs soooo fast!

Went to a redneck weddin last weekend. the centerpiece on the tables were actually empty jack daniel bottles. The weddin party rolled in on ATVs with a big sign on the back 'gettin hitched'

then there was the drunken sledding/racing down the sledding hill in the rain. that could have been sooooo bad but it wasn't.

all in all a good time.

time to get back to work...

You're very welcome. It would run faster if it had more RAM. :-)

It was great to meet you & (e:Lauren)! Give Ralphie a scratch for me.

perhaps a beer tasting if i can get the full operation up and running. I'm waiting on an ordered wine chiller, which will allow me to store everything at the proper 68-72 degrees. I'm afraid to start on a second batch when I had no control over the temperature variable in the first batch.

But even at this, it takes at least 6 weeks for beer to start becoming available after a brew. BOO i have no patience.
jbeatty - 08/24/08 18:09
Will there be a beer tasting?
tinypliny - 08/24/08 09:33
Good luck, Felly! I miss your posts. :(

NY city for the weekend.
after driving to NYC via Pennsylvania (i-81 to i-84) I have decided that Pennsylvania needs to be kicked out of the Union for unruly behavior. (construction from the moment I entered till the moment I left)

also...we spotted a tanker truck full of

"liquid egg product"

Gross.
tinypliny - 08/24/08 09:34
Ew ew. what is a liquid egg product? homogenized yolk?
metalpeter - 08/18/08 18:32
Could have been even worse you could have driven through where it leaked all over the road, HA.
mrmike - 08/18/08 07:43
Could have been worse, could have been leaking

xp please!
Well we didn't win the laptop at the barbeque/raffle last night. Which means we have to go and buy an uber cheap laptop. For lauren to do her papers on. Boo. but NOT a vista model. NO NO NO!

and i don't have much of a hangover at the moment, which rocks.

Anyone been to the melting pot?
tinypliny - 08/24/08 09:35
You could get a Vista model, format it and reload a slip-streamed version of XP on it.
:::link:::
heidi - 08/18/08 00:18
I've been to a Melting Pot in Rockville, Md. It was fun with a group of people. As a vegetarian, I felt a bit left out, although my choices were yummy. Dessert was incredible, and worth skipping dinner for :-)

heidi - 08/18/08 00:16
You might want to check out an Asus EEE PC 900 in XP home... I want to check out the linux version... it just seems like the perfect little item to take to class and write papers on, while quite inexpensive for the size and specs, the solid state hard drive is much less fragile than the standard hard drive.

Where the hell have I been???

working. Apparently around here, summer = busy months. Not to mention that, for the most part, days off have come to = a strange combination of weddings, events and obligations. And yes, I have been cheating on estrip with another online community.

Now now its not what you are thinking. Don't be upset, let me explain.

It all starts with samsung, you see. Samsung has offered me a deal wherein for every Samsung phone that i sell at work, I have the ability to go to their website and enter that phone's ESN number in. What it gives me in exchange are points. yes points. Delicious and free points.

And what do points give me exactly? THINGS! Thats what! Allow me to relate the items that I have received, free of charge, with said points.

1. A pair of kicks (adidas)
2. A George Foreman Grill the size of my microwave.
3. 3 month supply of Frontline Plus flea repellant stuff for Ralphie.
4. Puppy shampoo for Ralphie
5. A wok about the size of the George Foreman
6. Kicks for lauren
7. A book for Lauren.
8. A harness for Ralphie (not yet arrived)
9. An audio book
10. Age of Empires III
11. A new wireless card for my computer

and finally....

12. Mr Beer Premium Edition Microbrewery
13. Mr. Beer Whispering Wheat Weizenbier refill

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So first of all, lets not even talk about the time that I am on the computer playing Age of Empires.

I AM BREWING MY OWN BEER!!

Okay I admit, I am, by no means, a beer connoisseur. In fact, I will admit that I am a beer idiot. I know I like blue moon, and the original intention is that I would like to make blue moon!

well it has started to evolve.

The website I have been checking out is a forum for Mr. Beer fans, that tells you the ins and outs of home brewing. So I apologize for cheating on you, but I desire to know MORE!

Presently I have a Pale Ale fermenting in the closet. I will be able to Bottle said beer on the 17th and then it might be ready the first week of September.

Next batch will be a weizenbier. Then a 'witty monk' which is a true belgian witbier - or the most similar to a blue moon that you can get.

Also, I have decided to start TASTING beer, instead of drinking it. IE we went to the village beer merchant (oh my goodness what delightful beer selections!!)
We picked up a Moosbacher Weisenbier to try. Had a pint last night, good flavors! I will not even begin to pretend as though i know how to detect subtle flavors. But its a start.

incidentally, I just ordered a scale, thermometer and some extra bottles from samsung. BAM! free!!

fellyconnelly - 08/09/08 08:36
Thanks for the well wishes! Push all those positive thoughts towards happy beer!

Zobar - I've heard about that place, and though I definetely am interested in checking it out (looked at the website) I am also weary because there are those classes of homebrewers who love mr. beer and those who definetly dont! There is also a 'make your own' store across from my Lockport store that has a few supplies, though how fresh? who knows?

James - done. Now is it creepy that I found you and tracked down your childhood home, snuck in and plastered a 4'6 poster of me all over the new wallpaper with tiny roses all over it? nah.

mrmike. I WISH MY CONTRACT WITH SPRINT WAS UP!!

metalpeter - the thing is that we sell samsung, lg and motorola phones for verizon. We try not to sell the motorola phones due to high numbers of mechanical/programming errors. so now we are down to lg and motorola. There are certain types of each phone that are known to have issues, so we cut that down even further. And THEN there are some phones that are more profitable to sell than others. And they are often not even higher priced phones.

on the flip side, we also have a promotion through our warehouse that gives us actual monetary spiffs for selling motorola phones. I still try my hardest to NOT sell motorola. So some people may take these things into consideration, but we think of the customer first.
metalpeter - 08/08/08 18:49
I will admit that I'm no phone industry expert, but that sound illegal or at least it could be unethical. Now I'm not saying that it is. There are things where I work that to the outsider would sound that way but aren't. I know if I worked at a phone store and there where 3 brands I would try to get the customer to buy the one that gave me points for a sale vs. the one that didn't do anything for me. Again I'm not saying you would do that or that, if you did it is wrong. But in terms of the customer it wouldn't be what is best for them. Again I add that I don't know the Industry you are in and that might be a common practice, so don't think I'm judging you, I'm just judging what it sounds like.
mrmike - 08/08/08 10:45
Very cool. My sprint contract is up at the end of the month. I'll come see you
james - 08/08/08 08:56
Did that sound creepy?

It feels a little creepy now.
james - 08/08/08 08:56
You are my hero.

Seriously, I want a poster of you on the wall of my childhood bedroom.
zobar - 08/08/08 08:47
You may come to need 'things' which cannot be bought with 'points,' and that is where Niagara Tradition Homebrew :::link::: come in. They are located on Sheridan Dr at the corner of Military Rd, and (e:dragonlady7) swears by them for her meading supplies.

Pizza Plant :::link::: always has a big selection of interesting beers on tap, with the added benefit that their food is mad tasty - a bit of a different take on 'pizzeria,' and healthy without being too granoly. They're at the Walker Center, 5110 Main St past the 290. Don't go on weekends.
