By chance, should there be any lurking Rails developers on this site, please send me an email if you're looking for work (fulltime position with benefits, local to WNY only).

SmartLeaning a giant ladder up against power / cable lines, eh?

How do you hook up pirated cable? I thought such things happened only at home in Delhi! ;-)
Won't the cable company detect bandwidth usage from a strange IP?

No, it was the cable guy not the FIOS guy. I think, at least. Maybe it was someone hooking up pirated cable.

When he went to get the ladder down, it was tangled up. He violently shook at it for 20 minutes before it came lose. At several points the ladder was hanging from, not the guide wire, but the cable lines, and he was hanging on it and jumping up and down. It was not very inspiring.

The FIOS installer did this also. I don't think there is much danger of these snapping. Those cables are super strong and they know what they are doing.

Great picture. I think that the power lines are the lines on the top and that is phone or cable. But the better question is why not lean the ladder on the pole, you know something solid as opposed to a line that could snap and send the ladder down with you on it?

TypeCon 2008 This WeekendCategory: design
Sorry Paul, I just realized my typography convention is this weekend, and so I definitely can't go to WEMF :(
But it does bring up an interesting question: how does one properly ask to get an autograph from a typographic celebrity? Does "Do you mind letterpressing my chest?" sound to forward?

I'm mostly going to meet people, not for the sessions :)
And if I hadn't already paid for this I'd pick WEMF instead, if that makes you feel better.

My life just keeps getting more and more pathetic. Now I lost out to a freakin typography conference. Not there there is not magic in typeography but seriously - I find it hard to believe that conference format provides any more insight that one could not find in a book.

Hmmmm... Seems like I chose a wrong specialty in WNY. :)
