Switching ServersCategory: estrip
There is a good chance I am going to switch servers today. The new one is up and running at my house and thinks that it is estrip.org - now I just need to switch them out over at the Artvoice data center. Then we will be one step closer to estrip v6.
At first it will just run estrip v5 like the current site but having both versions on one server will make it much easier for me to transition the data between the versions.
So at some point today the site may be down for a tiny bit.

P.S. If anyone still wants to donate to the server fund we almost made it all the way to 100%. Thanks to everyone who helped - your support gives estrip a bright future with a new fancy server.

New Rosewood theme for estrip v6Category: estrip
I swear its all still coming along. Here is a new screen shot of one of the new themes in the new version of the site. i am not done with the theme yet, but I am almost there.

The new serverCategory: estrip
As of tonight it has working DNS, Red5 flash comm server, mail server, php 5.25, mysql 5.0.45 and everything else I wanted. I also have a copy of the current site running on it, an a copy of the new site. Seems like if I could just get well soon - it will be up and running in no time.

blah blah AOL millions Fuck OffCategory: fuckoffs
I decided to start a new category for fuck offs based the messages I get for the site. Here is the latest one.
The reason I don't copy the AOL chat style is because our chatter box is in a browser and the latest chat is most important, not the chat from the near past. So when people get to the site on a smaller screen or even on a big screen but a smaller window they can still see the latest, more important info from the chat without have to scroll below the fold. Same with a mobile browser, there is no reason to keep having to scroll down to check for new data in the box.
Just because AOL made a convention like that (in a completely separate context - dedicated chat program/versus piece of web site) I see no reason to have to follow it. Should I also have it say "You get mail!" when the user gets a message and fill their inbox with loads of spam?
Secondly, I have no interest in making millions from estrip if that is what you are suggesting and I definitely don't think the chat being the other way is what is separating me from being a millionaire. Have you not noticed there is no commercial aspect to this site?

Wow calm down a little bit. I didn't write it. But the person at least knows how to read a paper in Asia. Not sure if that is good or bad in how they are saying it. The way I read it, it isn't a personal attack. It is just one person who is use to going someplace for chat and so this seems backwards. If you chatted here all the time and then went to AOL you would have trouble following AOL. I myself like the order of the chat and have used AOL and others to. And the problem with AOL's is that if you fall behind at all it is very tough to see if anyone answered a question cause the chat allways moves.
