aye bandito!
Category: good times
Next stop.... bandits game!

okay i should be getting ready for work - which means... perfect time to update estrip!

I'll be working down in springville tonight - and closing up shop with just enough time to tear the hell out of there and get home to hit the rail to HSBC to the bandits game.

speaking of the rail... haven't taken it before - from the summer street station to HSBC arena - what is it a buck fifty? is it any different then NYC subways? i feel like such a noob.

i guess we have both seats in the 202 section as well as the game room that we have full access to. and the game rooms have one way glass in case there is a raunchy party going on inside. considering my co-workers..... yeah...

anyways... i guess i should go make my delightful breakfast shake and get my ass in the shower. this was an eventful post wasn't it?

Have a great time. The subway does go a long way from UB all the way to HSBC Arena or the AUD depending on how you look at it. It was never meant to take over for buses hence the light rail and since it is run by the same company it never would have. What it does is connect the city for people who go to main then go some place and go to the other side of town, that is what it was really made for. From what I understand the Main St bus you really couldn't do that with cause it didn't run much. That being said did the train not go out to the burbs because they thought they couldn't get those people into the city or was it because the burbs didn't want the blacks going out to see them. Reason it didn't go out to UB is that UB allready has it own shuttle (no idea how it runs) that goes out to the other campus. Lets Go BAndits!!! Lets go Bandits!!! Lets Go Bandits!!!!

The NYC subway actually goes someplace...
paul - 01/19/08 08:54
What makes it really different is that it only goes one way back and forth and only has one level. So pretty much nothing like the NYC one and its pretty impossible to get lost.
leetee - 01/19/08 08:46
Yep. $1.50. And it's NOTHING like the NYC subway. Or anything i have ever been on. It's actually rather Mickey Mouse in comparision. No offense to Mickey. If i remember correctlyl, they go on the honour system. If you are transfering from a bus, just keep the transfer. The rail goes above ground (and is free) past the Allen station towards downtown.

Have fun at the game.

I should be shovelling...

  • EDIT* here is another lovely review....

fellyconnelly - 01/17/08 11:44
i love to be alive! okay so then what would you suggest to lauren who hates the powdery gross flavor of what i have? mr health food nerdy guru?
james - 01/16/08 08:39
I love the Alive products. When I worked at a health food store I sold so many of those guys the rep. from the company gave me an Alive shirt. It made me giddy with nerdy glee.

its practically crawling with nutrients
Category: good eats
i've been having these superfoods shakes for breakfast for the past three or four days. a shake for breakfast? why yes! and the suprising thing is that i am not really hungry for several hours afterward! this is suprising to me because... well i love food. I need food on a fairly regular basis. And if i don't get it... well.. i'm cranky...

So this shake powder is... well.. green.. full of all those vitamins and kale and seaweed stuff that is supposed to be good for you but you never really get because... its disgusting...(?)

(e:lauren) thinks that the shake is absolutely disgusting, and I would have heartily agreed on day one when i wanted to vomit. But with a bit of tampering and time for my tastebuds to learn to look the other way.... i think its going to be just fine...

so this, mixed with a delightfully healthy diet of as much greens as possible and as little sugar as possible - just might have me fitting into those old clothes that i love.

we will see... i have horrible willpower you know...
metalpeter - 01/15/08 19:30
I thought part of the point of those healthy things was that they filled you up so you would eat less.
theecarey - 01/15/08 17:50
so what are these mossy breakfast shakes you speak of? I'm finishing off a container of barley greens that I add to juice and am open to trying something new. I used to work in health stores, so there was always an opportunity to shock my taste buds with some new health concoction. Eventually the tastebuds stop protesting, and none of it is really all that horrible anymore!
mrdeadlier - 01/15/08 10:10
Hm, not a bad idea.

Typically I just eat a granola bar or something on my way out the door. I typically do more calorie-counting than anything else when I'm on a weight loss kick, which isn't the best plan of attack, I know.
jason - 01/15/08 10:07
A shake for breakfast wouldn't be all that bad!!

so (e:lauren) and i are going to a bar in wheatfield named, coincidentally enough, JT Wheatfields.

We are going to go meet my aunt and cousing for a few drinks.

i think i'm scared. No wait... i KNOW i'm scared.

"West of the Mark" - WesternNY's premier country western band is playing.

if i don't make it then be sure to auction off my belongings and donate the proceeds to (E:strip)!
fellyconnelly - 01/13/08 12:53
okay so it wasn't so bad there... we actually had a pretty decent time!
mrdeadlier - 01/12/08 19:44
It's not SO bad there. The place definitely has a mid-80's feel to it though.
libertad - 01/12/08 19:31
Cute title!

shopping for dummies
Category: randomo
So yesterday was our big shopping day.

Started out with a trip to the DMV - which was on 77 Broadway. So I (being the noob of buffalo streets that I am) decided to punch the address into my VZ navigator. It popped up with two address possibilities and i selected the first one - but i realized that one was probably wrong as we started heading south on 190 PAST downtown. turns out that the first address was actually a rural road in Clinton(?). Interesting town. We decided to go with the address even though our gut feelings said NOOO! Eh its only gas right?

So when we got back to buffalo and hit up the DMV - got my registration lickity split (suprise suprise). Then off to an Oil change at sonics.

Then we decided to head up to see what the outlets in the falls were all about. WOW they sucked. They REAAAAALLLY sucked.

Then we hit the summit mall that i remembered going to in my youth. Now here is the funny thing - i sorta remembered that mall sucking when i was a kid - and now it REALLY sucked. And it sucked even more in the fitting room of the bonton when i started crying. but that is another story altogether.

We then hit the boulevard mall and got an eye toy groove game and some underwear. Giving up alltogether we asked the VZ Navigator to kindly direct us to an olive garden. There we waited 65 to 75 minutes (which turned into 50 minutes thankfully) for a table.

A quick stop at Wegmans and we came home. Now tell me how we went shopping all day and only bought a couple underwears and a video game?
fellyconnelly - 01/12/08 18:49
(e:jenks) - eye toy is a camera for the PS2 that puts you on the screen and your movements controlt he game. A great workout i think...

I love olive garden. Though of course it will never compare to the real thing...

also - the summit park mall IS a joke. i thought it was closed when we walked in!! and (e:mike), i bet you were sitting in the sunken lily pond. thats probably the only part of the mall that is worth it.
vincent - 01/12/08 14:28
The Summit Mall! Maybe it it was 1982 going there would be a good time.

Although when I was in high school that is where al the "Mall Chicks" hung out with their hair that sprayed us into this global warming we have now ;-D
mike - 01/12/08 14:09
the summit park mall is a joke. Me and (e:mk) went there a few years ago just to see, and like it was basically a Bonton and a huge DEBS shop, it was so dead that we actually didn't realize it had closed cuz we were sitting in this area with plants and we got locked in and then got in trouble for being in there after it was closed.
metalpeter - 01/12/08 13:49
That reminds me of a comedian I saw I want to say bill burr but not sure if that is correct he has a line that goes "My Family is italian but Olive Garden italian" and the joke goes on from there. I haven't been there in a long time but it is pretty good. If you want to go to a chain that doesn't feel like a chain check out Buca Di Beppo they have large portions that are supposed to be shared and pictures all over the walls it is a pretty cool place. Another interesting place is Tony Romes or is that romeos somthing like that it is named after a frank sintara charater in a movie has a lot of vierty of foods and is coverd in sintara stuff and his music is playing in the background.
lilho - 01/12/08 13:12
i would like to just say for one, that i love olive garden. i will always have a special deep love for it in my heart. maybe i will go there tonight....
mrmike - 01/12/08 12:50
Not if it is going to take you to an Olive Garden. I'd want my GPS to take me to a decent Italian restaurant like Marcos or Santisaros
jenks - 01/12/08 12:35
ok, what is this eye toy thing? I supposed I could google it, but really I'd rather someone just tell me about it. ;) Do I need one?
