Basketball
Category: sports
A friend of mine and I are going to hoop it up tonight, but we are hoping that we can do better than one on one.

We will start around 7:30. No cost, all are welcome.

james - 11/15/07 14:46
I am terrible at basketball. I would love to join you folks but my class gets out super late tonight

Not enough?
Category: time
Today I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day (and yet I find time to post on estrip--I know).

I also am thinking about our church's budget. And that would be easier if there was more money.

Of course, I know that we have exactly the right amount of time AND money, and we just have to make the choices to use them both well.

And so, when I get home tonight, around maybe 9 (after SIX separate, unrelated meetings in one day, plus too many phone calls and stress about programs and money, starting at 8am and including a lunch meeting), I will not think about this stuff anymore, and focus on relaxing with my wife.

Then we will start again on Wednesday (which should have a more normal pace)

Our trip to Toronto

Bonus points if you are the first to find my spelling error!
metalpeter - 11/12/07 17:59
Nice video thanks for posting it.
james - 11/11/07 21:10
It looks like you had a swell time.

My salad spinner was $15 at Target. Its used value it $2. And if you have known the non-salad things I have spun in there you wouldn't want it.
jbeatty - 11/11/07 20:35
Looks like you guys had fun. Its always a sign of a good neighborhood when there are duck carcasses hanging in the window :)
drew - 11/11/07 20:31
Congratuations! You win (e:James)'s salad spinner.
kookcity2000 - 11/11/07 20:24

(e:janelle) and I went to Toronto. I think I am going to make a video of our travels. But not tonight. props to (e:james) for making sure my Dog got food.
james - 11/11/07 11:48
My pleasure. Hope you had a good time.

And I need to get that book to you. I would feel bad for forgetting it, but it was 5 in the morning.
metalpeter - 11/11/07 11:32
Hope you both had a great time. There is so much to do there that sometimes in can be tough unless you go for a certain reason Like a sporting event, or play or something like that. Once you make a video you should post it here or if not at least give us a link to it.

I hope you enjoyed the visit! Toronto is one of my favorite cities. I've worked and lived there, hung out there only on weekends and miss it the longer i stay away from it. I am very interested in the perspective of someone who visited for the first time!!
mrmike - 11/11/07 00:03
One visit, you just scratched the surface. Lots of fun of all types to be had there

Nov 16 I are am going for sure. Two non-estrip friends are, too, but (e:janelle) has something lame. I am extra-geeky-spazzy happy.

AND it is on a friday, so I can party and not worry about the next day. ((e:janelle) will be there for that)

I AM SO VERY HAPPY.

Everybody on estrip should go. every. last. one. of. you.

Johns Flansburgh and Linnell rank right up there with Jesus, Bono, Tina Fey, Roberto Clemente, Tina Fey and Matt Groenig. Here's a sample

They didn't even write this song, but they certainly made it their own. At this show they will have a full band and be plugged in and awesome.

To me, a great test of how good a song is how well it can be played on as you as possible instrumensts. Here they are with a voice,a bari sax, and a stick

One more, so you can here them with a band:

You're a lucky man. I hope you'll have a great time!
james - 11/09/07 12:32
I heard John Lanell on NY public radio once. He asked for people to call in to request songs not written by him.

He played Smells Like Teen Spirit. He didn't know the words so he just sang "Blah blah blah"

Then he played a prince song. I can't remember.
ladycroft - 11/09/07 05:24
build a little birdhouse in your soul! well, i'm going to miss it and there isn't much i can do about that :(
vincent - 11/08/07 23:17
The Statue Got Me High & Particle Man are my favorites from those guys.
