I ran my second Half Marathon this weekend! I did the Rochester Half Marathon (I did the Buffalo Half last May) and my friend Nicole ran the full marathon. It was a really good course and I actually really enjoyed myself, even though I was running by myself. It was very funny, I actually finished at the exact same moment as the FULL marathon finisher (this happened last time almost, also.) So as I was sprinting towards the end, the crowds were going crazy and yelling super loud and I was like "what, is this for me?!?!" and then I heard some announcer saying "And the winner of the 2007 Rochester Marathon!" and I was like "ohhhh..." The best part was that the winner of the marathon always runs through tape across the finish line, but since I was literally directly in front of him, I had to kinda crash into the side of the archway over the finish line just so I wouldn't break the tape! I suppose I could have been a jerk and gone through it, hahaha. I wonder how many times that has happened before.

Oh I ran it five minutes slower than I did the first one, but I'm okay with that. YAY! I can't wait to do the full marathon in May finally!

Some pics...

Me and Nicole, bright and early.

image
(e:Anne) came with me and slept on Nicole's couch. Nicole's dog decided to sleep on her butt once Nicole got up.

image
Me after the race was over. There's a picture of me running somewhere but it's not on my camera, so this is the only one I have.

image
We had some time to kill waiting for Nicole to finish the race. While we were walking around the streets someone dangled a carton of Tropicana from their apartment window and (e:Anne) decided to play with it.

The race finished at Frontier Field, which is like Rochester's version of Pilot Field. Inside was a horse statue made completely of baseball gloves.

image
Cory also came to see me run :)

image
Me and Nicole after she was finished. She was NOT feeling too good, but running a marathon by yourself must be terrible. Hopefully in May when I run with her she will be much better!

pics from mike's bday...very late
I'm sorry (e:mike) that facebook is stupid and doesn't seem to let me put up pictures from your b-day. So here they are. They are probably not going to be in order because I'm in between classes and don't really feel like taking the time to fix them. I'm sure you can figure it out for yourselves...enjoy!

Multicultural Markers?!
So my classroom at school is kind of like the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series. Mostly it's my music room, but it is also used throughout the day as social studies, math and art on my off periods. So I thought I would use this to my advantage and use the art supplies with my 6th grade music class tomorrow so they can make nametags. Well I was digging through the art supplies cabinets and this is what I found:

Does this seem strange/amusing to anyone else? Woohoo, we put some brown and peach and tan markers in a box and labelled it "Multicultural"!
leetee - 09/11/07 09:54
ha ha ha... (e:zobar), you crack me up.

My parents were always saying things like "it doesn't matter what colour someone's skin is; if they are purple with pink dots, we are all equal." Which is totally a great thing to tell a kid. But then i would colour people in that way at school and get in trouble. Green and pink were my fav combination...
zobar - 09/11/07 09:44
I remember when Crayola discontinued Flesh because they said it didn't look like everybody's skin. I thought it was a joke because I didn't think it looked like anybody's skin, and anyway it was only ever available in the 48-pack. I always colored everybody Orange instead.

if you look closely one of those markers is the exact shade of your skin.
mike - 09/10/07 22:14
that is hilarious! I love it! I want it! give me more!
james - 09/10/07 20:24
That is hilariously ridiculous.

I can't wait for multicultural tomato sauce. Now in African black, Yellow Chinese, and brown everyone else who isn't white!
metalpeter - 09/10/07 19:14
Here is my theory. They have allways from when I can remember used the rainbow on there box. Well I bet someone said that the rainbow is also used for gay pride. Well you put that on a box and you will kill sales big time. So as a way to distance them selves and to make it look like they are into multiculturism they add that. Again it is just a theory so.... oh yeah from a conspircy thoerhist.
drew - 09/10/07 16:36
Do they have white with pink for people with albanism?

How about jaundice green, gangrene, or seasick?

Do they have red for people with fair skin that live in warm climates?
mrmike - 09/10/07 16:02
If one of the colors is mulatto, I'm writing a letter

08/31/2007 16:35 #40863

a poem for Mr. Birthday Man
Category: mike
There is lad, his name is Mike
He has a green and black helmet to wear while riding a bike
Today he is twenty-four
Maybe he will eat some Or(eos)
Tonight we will go to Frizzy's
And we will definitely get very dizzy
Turning twenty-four is a big step
When I turned 24 Mike tied a balloon to my doorstep
Mike hates me for that last rhyme
And he will tell me to go die for the millionth time
That's just how our friendship goes
Mike Ja Rule and a buncha hoes
I should have written this in his card
I could write another one but it might be too hard
So now I will go wrap his gift
In order to make letters capital you have to press shift
Happy birthday Mike you silly swine
Tonight we will party like it's 1999

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

mike - 08/31/07 16:51
