Catsup
I've been spending the last few minutes reading all the current journals and sorting out who's who. Felly is very busy playing some skateboarding game with sweet punk music in the background. She has been hogging the computer all morning long while I cry secretly about all the pit bulls that have to be put down because they have been raised for dog fighting and have "dog aggression". And then they go and play this commercial with all these cute little kitten and puppy faces and some sad song in the background....ahhh, I'm a sucker. Moving on.

After our trip out into the real world last night, Felly and I came home and I played Frogger for the first time in my life. Yes indeed, I have been living in a hole in the ground for the last 24 years. I am one of those people who is always the last to find out about the coolest new shit, whether it be because I don't care or possibly because I am too concerned with the last cool thing I just discovered that came out like 3 years ago. Either way, I played Frogger and discovered that I enjoy it a great deal and found myself being rather competitive, which is weird for me because I hate sports and for the most part hate competition, but I think Felly thought it was cute. She still kicked my ass.

Speaking of which, I know it might be a little early for this yet, but the one sport I do enjoy is skiing and I recently got Felly to fall in line. Anyone here ski...or snowboard? I can't snowboard for shit because I refuse to learn after one initial attempt and a week's worth of bruised ass cheeks, but I still think it's really cool and am jealous because of the cool boots you get to wear. Either way, we need a place that has some easy hills for Felly and some fairly difficult ones for me, cause I like to go fast :)

Alright, looks like I can talk after all. I am excited for tonight's event at the Albright Knox. I have this thing where I tend to be afraid of going to new places, so it's always good to have someone coming along who knows what they are doing. Also, Felly's birthday is on Sunday...any suggestions of a nice, not too expensive place to take her? I would like a place with an outdoor option if it is nice weather, but am really open to suggestions, even off the strip. I know she is going to read this but that's fine. I keep saying, so uh, where you wanna go? and not getting anywhere, so I thought I'd throw it out there to you folks.

Okeedokee. Peace out.

There is a meteor shower every year on my birthday!! My mom set it up for me several years ago and I enjoyed it so much she continues to provide. what a good mum.
sugarbowlmole - 08/12/07 14:28
I'd like to recommend Betty's on Virginia, though I'm not sure if they're open for dinner on Sundays, and it's probably a bit late to make a suggestion. ;p

We're going over to see Othello in Delaware Park tonight. It's free! You should check it out, if not tonight, then sometime this week.

Oh, and there's a meteor shower tonight - we're driving out to the country late tonight to see it. That might be nice birthday treat. :)

I'm a skiier, and Janelle wants to be one.

Bill Rapaport's site :::link::: has an amazing amount of information about restaurants. Along the top of the site there are links so you can find stuff according to cuisines or geography. I did the latter once when looking for a place downtown. Plus, they have links to the restaurant's website (if they have one), so you can always snoop around it to see if us (e:peeps) are steering you wrong with our recommendations. :O)

If you like Thai and Vietnamese, the Saigon Cafe on the strip (right by India Gate, actually) has always done right by us... and they have a wee patio.

Have fun at the gallery tonight. Nice place. I liked the pop art photos (pop porraits). Freaked me out to see Andy Warhol with dark hair. And the James Turrell light installation is like stepping into a new dimention -- i love that one!

And i'm with you on the stupid humans being mean to sweet doggies. So wrong, so very very wrong.

hey lauren I sent you a post-it. (click the little yellow postit note at the very top of the screen to see it)
mrmike - 08/10/07 14:56
Marco's on Niagara is good for that sort.
fellyconnelly - 08/10/07 13:52
Just so you know
the frogger game in question
happens to be a Playstation I game. Which I mention only because the rest of the gaming world has moved on to Playstation III. or PS3.
but it is indeed very cute when you grumble about it.

Tar Jhay
Felly has convinced me to take a trip to Target to get her coveted cable to connect the DVD player to the VCR and then to TV, all so we can play video games. Very exciting. I'm hesitant simply because I don't want to put on a bra today and going out into public tends to require such things. Alas, the price you pay for entertainment.

Thanks for all the info on the park. I think we shall certainly be taking a trip out there next week sometimes. All your pics look beautiful and worth the drive.

We drenched our bathtub in Tilex mildew remover and I think I'm slowly losing brain cells with every breath I take. I think Felly likes it. Hmm...how to do that neat little link thing to the person? I will have to ask her once she gets off the phone.

For now...

I totally agree with leetee. Hate 'em with all my heart, if only they would stop choking it.

What a pity they are so evil and yet so necessary. :/
leetee - 08/10/07 18:56
bras are... the devil
tinypliny - 08/09/07 20:34
Use vinegar!! Check out (e:libertad) 's post about the benefits of going green!

Just attach an "e" followed by a ":" before (e:people), and there you have it - a bright shiny link to their parge. :)

A little late, but you know what they say:

WeLCoME To BuFFaLo!!! :)

and I am so sorry I was not in the welcome committee yesterday - had to wrestle with an alligator called work. :(

Hello Again
Ok so...I initially made an account over a month ago and conviently forgot the passwod to, so I figured I could just start over.

So, first of all I would like to thank all the folks who came out last night and made us feel so welcome. It was fabulous to do a little socializing and good to find some seamingly down to earth people.

Sooooo...I was thinking while the weather is nice I would like to do some hiking, and I've heard of some canyon outside if Buffalo that is crazy huge...I don't know what it's called but someone referred to it as the Grand Canyon of the East. Anyone know what I am talking about and where it is? I certainly would also take suggestions as to other good places to get out of the city. I must admit, I am a country girl as I've never lived in a city before, so I need a little nature in my life to keep me sane.

Also, now that I have met some of you and know that you are in fact real human beings, I think I might be more inclined to be a part of this community.

Now, back to Animal Planet.

Yeah, Letchworth is fantastic. Lots to see.
chico - 08/09/07 15:08
Hey (e:lauren) ... i just hiked in Letchworth recently, as did (e:imk2) ... check out my post for a few pics: (e:chico,40428)

It took about 1.5 hours to drive there using directions from Google Maps. Vehicle entry/parking fee is $6 for the day, with re-entry privileges, unless you have a NY Empire State Park pass. Six bucks (plus gas and a bagged lunch) was a very good value. To call it a "Grand Canyon" is pushing it a bit but it is defintely beautiful and well worth the effort.

Hint: Some of the best views along the Gorge Trail (Trail 1, of many) are in so-called "Hazardous Areas". If you're confident of your footing and there's no park ranger around, consider accepting the risks and going the extra few steps.

Here's the link to Letchworth State Park:
:::link:::

The site refers to Letchworth as "GC of the East". I've only been there once and never hiked. It's gorgeous, stunning. A few hours drive from Bflo, well worth it!
drew - 08/09/07 13:08
I think you're referring to Letchworth state Park. Drew and I went about a month ago. It is pretty incredible. There's a hike down into the gorge; we didn't have time to do it, but we want to get back and try it sometime. It took us a couple of hours to get there, I think. --Drew's wife.
