I'm crying over you AirtranCategory: travel
Not to knock on NYC or NYC People, but it's just not my thing or place to hang. Yes it's the center of so many things, but for my personal taste I prefer civility of the people of Mid-America and the South. I wrote this Sunday as I was flying back to Buffalo and these are my thoughts at the time as I was feeling and living it.
So in my travels To and from here I flew AirTran quite a bit. The reason why is that their schedule was great, they flew into Sarasota ( my parents are too old & they hate having to drive to Tampa), Business class was very reasonable to upgrade to and the people that you would fly with were descent folk. This is huge when compared to flying JetBlue to LGA Laguardia. That airline at its core had former Southwest employees which features the "cattle call" when announcing the boarding. So throw that in with entitled Neurotic metro NYC people with Money and you have a shitstorm as us Canadians say. Also with LGA the food options are not the most enthralling (I like southern fair that I can't get back up North.) Plus the bar prices are even more outrageous than other airports (which is scary) Also your drinking buddies while more entertaining than most are not the most friendly. I've had some of the most fun traveling bonding moments in Atlanta with strangers at $5 a draught, great seafood from Phillips and also had he opportunity to run into people that went to Niagara University my alma mater as well.
To me flying into LGA is traumatic and not part of a vacation but an aggregation. Let's face it, sometimes when you're on the plane it's like you're almost there at your destination. For example of you're flying to Vegas everyone is talking about where they're staying, what they play & what shows they plan on attending.
I don't want to be surrounded by loud self important people aggressively bumping into me. I sat next to this old Guy of Dutch descent, he looked working class with his old shoes and may have looked like he was a farmer. Well on his hip he had an iPhone 4s and in his attaché an iPad. Yes he brought his own meal and drinks on he plane, but he had a business to run and money to save for one his forklifts needed repair. Did I mention he was pleasant & did not make noise or bump into me once? Those little things mean the world to me more than price. I would pay more to fly AirTran over JetBlue when laid over side to side.
AirTran took great care of me. When Business class was sold out hey got me an isle seat for $20 with said gentleman from Ohio. Plus that came with zone 1 boarding & attentive flight attendants. But this airline is slowly falling into the air cattle category as one of the first things SouthWest did was do away with XM Radio as I guess those few "extra pounds" of weight was too much for them. I guess that is why I'm blogging this now on an app for my iPhone as WiFi is n longer free as well.
I am going to miss being treated like gold as the market for someone caught in between no frills economy and affordable luxury no longer has a viable option. I don't have hundreds of thousands of miles to gain status on a legacy carrier to Sarasota as I never traveled for decades for any industry or job. The folks that were up in the air for Years working to accumulate the wealth to afford to retire to Sarasota will squeeze me out every time and there are more of them than seats available. There are folks that must have felt slighted as their life savings of miles have dwindles post retirement and they have to sit back in coach.
With fuel prices and consolidation I wonder if I will ever enjoy the level of service that I enjoyed with AirTran to the SRQ? Will someone please step up And serve my market or is that I am the abominally and am not economically viable in the current configuration of the airline industry? Just do a search for "Business Class" on Kayak and see what comes up, only AirTran and with them slowly bent phased out what will happen to the in between market segment like myself that is willing to pay extra but not 4 figures for a comfortable airline seat to great destinations?

Host: George Noory
Guests: Dr. Leonard Coldwell, Reza Kahlili
One of the leading authorities of self-help education for cancer patients and considered by many authorities to be the world's leading expert on cancer, Dr. Leonard Coldwell, discussed the nature of the disease and why he believes chemotherapy, radiation, and mammograms cause cancer. In looking at the primary driver behind the illness, Coldwell contended that 90% of all cancers, as well as other sicknesses, are caused by stress. He pointed to "constant worries, doubts, and fears" as well as lack of self love and hope for the future as key factors in reducing energy levels, weakening the immune system, and leading to diseases like cancer.
He warned that patients who undergo traditional cancer treatments, like chemotherapy, are "as good as dead." As such, Coldwell shared some natural methods for fighting the disease. One tactic, he said, involves ingesting the combination of a spoonful of pharmaceutical baking soda and five spoonfuls of organic maple syrup, heated up to form a solid mass. This concoction, he said, acts as a "Trojan horse," since cancer cells will flock to the syrup's high sugar content and then be killed by the baking soda. Coldwell also advised drinking a gallon of water which contains a teaspoon of sea salt every day and avoiding the use of plastic containers for food and water. "You can always do the medical treatment," he said to those who may be skeptics, asking rhetorically "so why don't you try the natural first?"
Coldwell was highly critical of the mainstream medical industry which, he noted, nets billions of dollars from cancer detection and treatment. He asserted that the pharmaceutical industry has no interest in curing cancer and ultimately wants to turn it into a "manageable disease like diabetes." He claimed that his work towards eradicating cancer is so dangerous to the pharmaceutical industry that, when his first book was about to be published, he was offered a quarter of a million dollars to suppress it. After rebuffing the offer, Coldwell said, he was shot at two days later and had his car bombed two weeks after that. Citing similar treatment for other alternative treatment advocates, he lamented that "we live with daily death threats."

There is a lot to the evolution theory. Cancer is a form of unsuccessful reverse-evolution, in fact, its almost like a pregnancy with autonomous cells, but totally out of control.

% a medicine that daily blocks what ever turns it on and still keeps cells that die and are replaced by new ones in check
It is otherwise called a healthful predominantly plant-based diet, avoidance of smoking and alcohol, regular exercise, maintaining a proper weight for your height and around 5% luck that you don't have any faulty gene variants.
(e:metalpeter), if you have time, do read the cancer progress report. The 100 years have not been in vain.

My own thought is this...
They only know how to kill it and not how to turn it off or on yet... If they could find a drug that could turn the cancer off then I would buy his idea.... See this way once you have cancer you could take a medicine that daily blocks what ever turns it on and still keeps cells that die and are replaced by new ones in check....
Evolution... No one has proved it... but yet we see examples everyday... For example two people have a kid who are the same height kid is taller then both.... Now you could call that better health. But all call it evolving..... Also if you believe in the fact that all man kind was in one place and then that land mass broke apart then over time that would explain how features in hair and skin color changed.... Ireland is cloudy hence pale skin where as Africa the dark skin is needed... So it only makes sense that over time that "Humans" Changed.... Now is adaption the same thing maybe or maybe DNA changed and traits with it...
But what does that have to do with cancer.... Some cancers do run in families if you believe that... Yes it is a bit of a leap but I think Cancer is when evolution goes wrong or doesn't work. It is at least that same process.... Something that we don't understand tells those cells to grow in certain way and then doesn't tell them to turn off and it kills the host....
So everyone has what causes cancer and certain things turn it on or can cause it to start that process.....
So if someone can figure evolution or adaption what ever you want to call it then they will figure out most cancers......
Not bashing Roswell or St. Jude they do help a lot of people beat cancer but 150years and they still haven't figured out how to stop it and only know how to kill it.... You see why people think something smells Fishy......

There are different kinds of Cancers like the one caused by the HPV virus as an example and some of the kids cancers get beaten....
Some times if they catch it early they can remove the cancer cells and it doesn't come back.... Now when it does come back.. Did that mean that what ever turns on the cells got into the blood and traveled some place else? Cause that is what happens in other cases it starts someplace and spreads somewhere else....

So much to say on this may break it up into about 25 comments...
There are people who do believe that at one point there was a cure for cancer found and it was buried.... Now I don't know about that and I don't know enough about the science but there are a few things that this article does have right.....
Those things do cause cancer but they also kill it... What they all do kinda is they kill the Cancer sells and hopefully kill them all before they kill you... Chemo makes you sick and then you don't eat right or at all some times you get sick... Radiation Kills those cells pretty good But then you can get it someplace......

Typo in that last comment:
"... what will all" --> what with all
Holistic cures and alternative medicine are great, but not if they are ludicrous. The benefits of a plant based diet with low energy density, plenty of exercise, proper hydration, healthful sleep habits, and generally, a simpler lifestyle is universally known.
What is worrisome is that people don't easily change to adopt these lifestyles when they are relatively healthy. People only consider changing their lifestyles seriously when they are faced with health problems. At that point, what is universally known to be healthy becomes a "holistic cure" instead of just being known as general wisdom and common sense. Throw in some commonplace mixtures such as sugar and baking soda and you have a genuine quack's guide to curing cancer.

% cancer cells will flock to the syrup's high sugar content and then be killed by the baking soda
I can't help laughing. Think about it, how can cancer cells (that are very much part of our bodies, just like any other cells) and are enmeshed in its tissues "flock" to something that is in the stomach within the brief 2 hours or less after which it will be broken and/or degraded into elemental forms for absorption? If cancer cells were THAT autonomous in their actions, there would be no hope for cancer patients at all and all they would have would be holes in their entire body, what will all the "flocking" that cancer cells would be capable of.
Take a look at this: :::link:::
Cancer is expensive, for everyone involved. But that doesn't mean that all researchers, doctors, and even the hated pharma industry are inhuman enough to withhold some magic cure.
