Why i hate IE - IE flash offscreen wmode transparent cursor bugCategory: windows
ie flash offscreen wmode transparent cursor bug One of my coworkers came to me saying that his cursor was missing in editable text areas on the intranet on windows 7/IE 8/9. This is the craziest bug I have ever seen. I was able to fix it but it was a combo of IE 8/9 with Flash Player 11.1.102.55 on Windows 7. Strangely, it does not appear to happen on my windows XP machine with IE 8 and the same flash player. Not sure if it show up anywhere else. If you put a flash swf with wmode=transparent in an offscreen absolute position, the text cursor does not show up in the text area on the page as you click around to edit. These are the kind of bugs that make me hate IE. Here is an example
ie clipboard security: Believe it or not the IE setting clipboard security vulnerability I presented many years ago still also exists on computers running IE8 with windows 7. It is especially scary because it continues to monitor your clipboard even when the browser is in the background or minimized. Please make sure you have nothing sensitive in your clipboard before visiting. The bug only show up in IE when you have javascript access to clipboard allowed
Clearly I used to care more about design, just check out the difference in style between these two bug reports, lol.

Don't know about the programming or editing pages thing.... But IE is ok.... To be honest at work it drives me a bit crazy sometimes... Sometimes you open up a page on buffalonews.com and it sends you back to the homepage... But really though I can't download another browser don't think we are allowed to ad any software or programs... We don't use it for the job though it just needs to work so that the shipping software can send info to the shipping (ups & fedex) companies and that is the only reason why the computer I use has it.....

No thinking person uses IE anymore, even at work. If they do, they probably deserve all these bugs. If anyone is forced to use IE (some applications at work), the IT department is just lazy, in general and retrogressive.

Mike's Dinner PartyCategory: food
The other night (e:Mike) had a dinner party for the family. He made this delicious terriaki chicken with green beans, cauliflower pasta salad and salad. Then we had a chocolate cake from dolci.
My brother is a borderline horder as is evidenced by the fact that he has a bowl of matches from stores that closed upwards of 10 years ago on his coffeetable. To make it crazier, he us a non smoker.

Buckhorn on Grand Island, NYCategory: hiking
It had been a while since I had been to Buckhorn on Grand Island, probably about 15 years. I forgot how pretty the scrub between river and forest can be. The day was very cloudy and dark but the temperature was a warm 60F.
It was so nice out that this ladybug hasn't hibernated yet.

The 190 bridge over the creek had the craziest looking swamp slime.

This little mouse didn't make it.

I took a bunch of panoramas too.

I was kind of surprised at the amount of Graffiti. Every nature trail sign and overview was ripped down and replaced with graffiti.

It was fun playing in the trees.

Some trees on East River road had this crazy disease.

I think someone doesn't know its winter yet.

Google found this. The spiky balls are from a bug biting the tree and the tree forms a hardened shell to protect eggs. At least that what I was told in my personal experience. I thought it was a fungus, but the person studied plants for her job.

Funny you post this I've been having this obsession with Navy Island lately but it seems that camping has now been prohibited.

One of those trees looks like a horse is trapped in it! So weird... Is that really a disease, seems more like adaptations and some symbiosis/nesting going on.
Gorgeous pictures, the colours are awesome!
